Am I an electricity hog???

Okay this has been an eye opener for me as my bill last month was $352 and we only pay 0.10 kWh :scared1:

Time to cut back it looks like!

I am from Houston, and our last bill was $390. When it is 100+ degrees and 90% humidity, what can we expect? We keep it at 77 during the day and 75 at night, and still.........

I've enjoyed reading through this thread!

I think a lot of it has to do with what size your house is, as several people have mentioned. And how many users there are.

OP, I really think you don't need to worry at all!

My husband and I have a 1100 sqft condo, and in the summer our bill was about the same as yours because of air conditioner, we were having 114 degree days.

But here in the fall the weather outside has been nice and about 75 degrees, so we haven't had the air or heat on at all hardly and this month our bill was $57.

I'm not sure how we achieved that lol but hubby was a happy camper. I assume a lot of it has to do with the weather outside. Plus, my husband and I don't have kids so when we are at work nothing gets used.

I wouldn't worry OP, you probably have a bigger home and kids, your bill seems normal! My mom lives in a 2,000 sqft home with my grandparents and her bill has gone up a bit because of the number of users, even though they are all conservative. More so than my husband and I.

Good luck this month, I wouldn't worry about it though!

I live in Daytona Beach and there are three of us everything gets unplugged when not in use and our electric bill was $36.00 we have florida power and light did not use the air or heat and only wash once a week no dryer.

My latest bill (Oct 12 to Nov 14) was for 853 kWh. It is just the 2 of us, but we have been using the woodstove with a fan in it to blow out the heat about 50% of the time.
