Are there patio rooms in Tuvalu that are TPV? Any idea what that would be like? Does anyone have a pic of a patio view from Tuvalu?

I could be wrong, already have been today :lmao:, but I think MsStinkerBelle had a 1st floor TPV room in Tuvalu before. According to tikiman there are 5 TPV rooms on the 1st floor. Sorry, I don't have any pics.

Congratulations on your great rate!

Yes, there is an AWESOME slide at the main volcano pool. It actually goes through the volcano, is mostly enclosed, and the inside is usually illuminated with a red light to simulate a lava floe (sometimes the light is off and it's completely dark). There's also a zero-entry on the beach end, with a stunning view of Cinderella Castle across the lagoon. My family ADORES the volcano pool! Alas, there is no hot tub!

OK, so, I've never been on an enclosed water slide. I get claustrophobic, so I was always too nervous to try them. Anyway, in all the times we've been at the Poly, I've never done the slide, but I want to this year!! When you say it's enclosed, is it a small space? Is it the same "circumference" as the opening at the bottom (into the pool)?

I really don't understand why Poly doesn't have a hot tub? :confused3 Not that I care because I don't really like them anyway but I like putting my achy feet and legs into them. I just never really understood why they don't..

Hmmmm. I would say no, it's not a very small space, and yes, it is the same circumference as the opening at the bottom (this is my estimation only and not a fact). I too get a little claustrophobic, and have never had a problem on the Poly slide. You kind of have to lay back on it, so there's lots of space between you and the top if the tunnel. You're also moving very quickly, so there's not very much time to experience any closed-in feeling; at least, that has been my experience.

You can do it!!!

Yep, it's pretty much just like that. :goodvibes there's even a section of the slide that is 'red' giving you the impression that you're sliding through lava. Very cool! :thumbsup2

I'm not a fan of hot tubs either (I'm a germaphobe that way and I admit to my phobia :lmao:), but like you I don't understand why the Poly doesn't have one. :confused3

Well, you're sorta right today! :rotfl: I had a lagoon view room in Tuvalu. Room 1405. 1406 -09 are the TPV rooms. Ours was on the extreme right (if you're facing the longhouse from the water) so the castle's bottom 1/3rd was blocked by beachcomber island. If you look diagonally over DD10's right shoulder in the picture below, there's the castle. It's reeally tiny in the picture but its there. :goodvibes

I rationalize my disappointment by reminding myself that those things are cesspools of germs! (Truth be told, I still enjoy a soak in one now and then, even though I know it's kind of risky :scared1:.)

Yeah, why didn't they put one in when they redid the pool area in 2000/01? Doesn't make any sense, it seems like there's room...

Hi all!

The Poly is my DREAM resort, so when I originally booked CBR, and then got a great PIN, I upgraded to the Poly. My kids are teenagers, but love MK. Will the Poly slide appeal to a couple of teenage daredevils. We love BB and TL, but are not expecting a waterpark type of slide at the Poly. My DS at age 10 thought the AKL slide was borring.

I am so glad I found this web site, you all have been very helpful in my obsessive planning!

Thanks for the info!! The funny thing is I'm fine on enclosed rides, etc., but I guess it's the thought of getting snagged or stuck and knowing someone could be coming behind me with no where to go. I know it's irrational, but isn't that the purpose of phobias? Well, sadly, I have plenty of time to work up my nerve! :upsidedow

Congrats on the upgrade! I can't speak for your guys, but my teens and DH and I (thrill-seekers) love the Poly slide (we all thought the WL slide was pretty lame, and I think that compares to AKL slide). It's definitely NOT boring!

Hope your dreams come true!:wizard:

My DH has RA, so walking for him can be hard after a long day at the parks. When I made my reservation, the CM was wonderful. He was very accomidating and noted his special needs.

What are your experiences with checking in at the Poly? Should I use the online check in or use the regular line?

We booked a GV, so I am not concerned about the view at all, just the location.

Thanks!

Speaking from experience! I have two teens and one Pre-teen they absolutley loves the Poly pool! Slide and the pool itself! We have also stayed at CBR and would never return there again! Too many problems and WAY too big of a resort! Anyway congratulations in your decision! I think you will regret it and love it at the same time! Regret it because once you spoil yourself and your family with the Poly you will not want to stay anywhere else! Love it.... Because who couldn't! :rotfl:

Thanks, Tess. And I have to keep reminding myself, if I choose TPV - I would not be sure to get Tahiti anyway. But if I choose TPVCL - we would get Hawaii, right? I just don't want one of those 2nd floor rooms.....at least with Tahiti, I know I would have a balcony.....but again, I might not get Tahiti. As you can see, my brain is playing ping pong with all of these decisions!!!

I agree with Tess -- the added services of the CL, plus the great location next to both pools, proximity to the GCH and boat dock, and fantastic views of both the EWP and Wishes make me want to stay in Hawaii over Tahiti. But then, Tahiti has the bigger rooms and the 2nd floor balconies...:rolleyes1 Guess you have a tough choice there!:rotfl:

Welcome! My DD is a waterslide "expert" and says that the slide at the Poly is faster and more fun than the one at AKL (and we love AKL). The only one that is better, in her opinion is the one at SAB at the YC/BC resorts. ;)

Hi :wave2:

I apologise in advance if this has been asked before many times.

I was wondering if someone could tell me about the buses to DHS, AK and DTD. Roughly how long does it take to get to each park from the Poly and are there any stops made on the way there and back to the other Deluxes?

Trying to find out some info, so I know how to time my AM ADR's etc.

TIA

The AKL slide is boring! But it was my first water slide so it worked out well for me. :) The slide at the Poly is lots better IMO. Congrats on booking the Poly! :goodvibes

Same phobia here! It took a lot for me to go on AKL's water slide, but I used that to get over my phobia. Remember that physics and a good design will get you down the slide. :) They don't want you to get stuck, so they make the slides so you can;t get stuck, and physics will keep you moving downward and out with the least amount of friction. Plus the enclosed rides are better 'cause you can't see how much further you have to go to get out. :) Hope you enjoy it once you try it! :goodvibes

Buses come roughly every 20 minutes, (more often during peak hours) and it takes 20 minutes to ride to AK. It took about 15 minutes or so to ride to DHS. Buses stop at CR first on the way back, so it makes the ride seem a bit longer to get "home" Hope this helped! :)

The movies are on the beach between the GF and the Poly. They are typically shown every night except Monday and Tuesday. I think every month they change the rotation of the movies so it will depend on when you are there.

There is a campfire before the movie and they sell s'more materials in little packets. They also play some rockin music before the movie while the sun is setting waiting for the darkness to fall. There are beach lounge chairs that you can sit back and relax on.

DH and I took turns walking to the GF pool bar to buy a few rounds of cocktails to enjoy during the movie while DD had a blast playing with the other kids and watching the movie. Good fun for free (minus the cocktails and s'more packages):thumbsup2

With all the fresh air and relaxing by the lagoon watching the movie, we all passed out cold that night :faint: and slept like rocks!

Thanks So much!!!!:dance3:

These pictures were wonderful exactly what I needed. I have now added Smores kits to my packing list:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Because we are staying 16 days on site and our last 6 days at the POLY, we are really planning to enjoy the POLY resort when we are there and we have a couple of days of just enjoying the resort so the movies will be wonderful for the end of one of our days.

Please let us have nice weather for our last 6 days:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes
Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you for posting this!!!!! You are the best!:thumbsup2

Love this thread

Uhoh...I just realized and guess I didn't remember the sinks are inside the bathroom aren't they? We are three adults (DH, DS, and me) so it's really one person getting ready at a time isn't it?

Can any one tell me how that worked out for them? Thanks

Yes, the sinks are inside the bathroom! We have never had a problem with 4 people getting ready. One strategy is to shower the night before; that's what I always do at home anyways, because I don't like getting into bed dirty. Maybe not all members of your party will want to do this, but if at least one or two does, it really cuts down the time in the am. We also don't wear much makeup, if any, in Disney, but if we did, we'd apply it in the main room instead of the bathroom.

We did this on our last trip and it is one of my fondest memories :) DD 8 danced and had a wonderful time with the movie "counselors" before the movie-- Cupid Shuffle, Macarana... she doesn't usually jump into a bunch of kids like that NOT knowing the dance, but she did! They played Wall-E and Bolt (hadn't been out long on DVD at all) when we went. (The movie schedule for the day or week maybe was on the schedule sheet the Poly gives you.)

I will say that one of the nights was so cold I thought I'd freeze with the wind coming off of the lagoon. It was about 60 and windy!! (It's all relative-- bring hoodies or a blanket if you have any question...) Mind you, they almost had to cancel as the blow up screen was really moving around. They have a certain wind mph that they stop at (you know, $10K system setup and all ;) ) I could not recommend this higher unless you have limited days for the parks. It sounds perfect for your longer stay. DD 15 and DH left MK to come to the movie with us as it was so busy there. Three of us fell asleep watching the movie. It was heavenly to be on the beach, at Disney, watching a Disney movie with my family...such a juxtaposition to the parks! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy...
