Love this thread

Uhoh...I just realized and guess I didn't remember the sinks are inside the bathroom aren't they? We are three adults (DH, DS, and me) so it's really one person getting ready at a time isn't it?

Can any one tell me how that worked out for them? Thanks
We have 2 girls, 1 teen and 1 preteen, plus my teen ds, me and my dh and we just break up our showering by splitting some at night some in the morning and usually at least one in mid afternoon during our rest. We never had an issue getting to the rope drop. I also made sure the 15 yr old had a travel makeup mirror so she could just apply on the go!!

Buses come roughly every 20 minutes, (more often during peak hours) and it takes 20 minutes to ride to AK. It took about 15 minutes or so to ride to DHS. Buses stop at CR first on the way back, so it makes the ride seem a bit longer to get "home" Hope this helped! :)

Thanx for that, v useful to know :goodvibes So I am guessing you just share a bus on the way back from parks, never going to? Also, do you know how long it takes to get the DTD?

You do share the bus going to the parks, but if I remember correctly Poly was the last pick up on the way to the parks, so once you board the bus goes directly to the park.

I think it took us about 40 minutes to get to DTD (once on the bus). I don't remember the time exactly, but it just seemed to take forever and it was b-o-r-i-n-g.

Subscribing.

I last stayed at the Polynesian in 1989, thinking of staying there again next year. We just came off a spectacular visit to the Grand Floridian, but not sure I would stay there again without the free upgrade to Club Level.

I'm hoping to run the Princess Half Marathon in 2011, and it looks like the Poly is the only deluxe "host" resort!

That doesn't sound like fun. Luckily we have decided to forgo the restaurants in DTD for dinner this year. So a few visits during the trip should suffice.

If you share buses on the way too, does that mean they can get quite busy?

When we rode the bus to AK and DTD, the bus stopped at the GF before heading to each. It took 45 minutes for us that day to get a bus to DTD and it was packed once the Poly people got on and the people at the GF were not happy that there wasn't any room on the bus for them.

For whatever reason the buses to Downtown Disney from the Magic Kingdom Resorts seem to take forever, which is why my family and I always have our own transportation when going there and when doing that it takes no more then 15 minutes after leaving the Contemporary.

I don't blame them. I just don't understand why you have to share, I mean the amount of buses that go through the moderate resorts, why skimp on the Deluxes?

I think it has to do with the Value and Moderate Resorts having more total rooms, which is why you would see their buses arrive a lot faster then the buses from the Deluxe Resorts.

Makes sense I guess. Hopefully it won't be too bad service wise, I remember in 2008 when we stayed at CSR the buses service was just awful.

I have stayed at the values, a moderate and deluxe and the bus service to DTD has been awful at every level. Even when we stayed at POR, we had to wait 45 minutes for a boat. We've already decided to fork over the money for a taxi this time!

How is the bus service from Poly to DHS? How long does it take, on average?

We want to spend the morning at DHS, then return to Poly for a couple of hours in the afternoon to rest, then head back to DHS for dinner and Fantasmic.

Our kids are young - my oldest will be 5-and-a-half, and my youngest will have just turned 3. They go to bed early at home - usually between 7 and 8 pm. They're usually early risers - DS wakes up always before 7 am, DD usually wakes up by 7:30 am, at the latest. We're trying to come up with a good strategy for that day.

My current plan is to DRIVE early to DHS (be there when it opens at 9 am). Do most attractions and have lunch from. Then, take the BUS back to Poly (I assume I can take a bus to either Poly or TTC and just walk, if necessary). Then take the BUS back to DHS. Have an early dinner and then go to Fantasmic. Then DRIVE back to Poly. My reasoning behind this is that I will have a double stroller and it will be more difficult to fit into a bus with a big stroller in the morning and after Fantasmic. I would also imagine the wait for a bus after Fantasmic will be tough. Would it simply be easier to take the bus all day long :confused3 ?

We always just drive to DHS when we're at the Polynesian as long as we're all together.

We occasionally split up now that everyone is older so I have taken the bus back. I do take whichever comes first...Polynesian or TTC. When I've ridden in the afternoon, the Polynesian has always shared with at least the CR and stopped there first. The shuttles for parking come so often that I think you would almost always get back to the Polynesian faster by driving.

Wow!! Uhhh wow!! I am confused and I am not even considering this schedule!

I think if it were me I would take the bus! The bus is not a bad ride to DHS! About 20 min max! And they are pretty frequent! Driving a car you have to remember after loading your car then driving in the traffic either in the morning rush or evening is not fun at all! Then after you park you ride a trolley to the entrance, loading your kids and stroller then unloading at the entrance!

Well Tuvalu is nice and close to the GCH ... which we actually thought was more of a benefit than being close to the TTC (IMHO, but we spent a lot of time at the MK). But that's fine with me ... everyone should go for Tahiti ... leaves more availablity for us and lissiesmum in Tuvalu! :rotfl2:

Maiapapaya, you crack me up! :rotfl: I'm so glad to have a Tuvalu buddy, and I know Ms Stinkerbelle also loved her room there too! Someone asked a question about the first floor TPV at Tuvalu...I walked around in front of the building and it was really pretty on the ground floor and the patios are really nice. It is very secluded and no one (well, except nosy people like me from the third floor! :rolleyes1) would be walking in front of your room. The views were just as nice as the third floor, but you can definitely see more of the castle from the top floor, where on the ground area it was more like the top of the castle. I wouldn't have minded a patio at all while we were there! :thumbsup2

I'm having trouble figuring out whether to request third or first floor. Blah!! I love the patio and all that room for the kids to get some energy out while still being in our "yard." Of course, if you're paying for TPV, you might as well see as much of the castle as possible, not just the top. Good thing I plan so far in advance so I can nitpick these things to death before deciding just to leave it up to the resort gods.
