Thoughts on the Adventure?

The rides look too kiddy and the coaster so slow. Nothing for the 10 plus year olds on the rides.

The artwork/theming looks amazing. Better then any of the other ships.

Rooms look to be not much.
The appeal isn’t your Norwegian/Royal Caribbean type of crowd. There are different cruise line for those seeking thrilling attractions. Disney REALLY leans on relaxation and less intense activities.

If I were to cruise on this scale in the future… it would definitely be on ANY Disney ship. The whole atmosphere is so amazing. You just don’t feel like a number compared to Carnival…

If it starts sailing to more destinations in the area we will book it in a heartbeat, I just don’t want to fly to Singapore for a cruise to nowhere.
It wont, cruises to no where are popular with a local market, which in this case are China and Japan. This ship is for the local market, not for Americans who want to see the region. Its the same reason why Disney have switched to short cruises out of Southampton in August, as the majority of passengers are UK people who stay on the ship in the ports.

When the local market gets tired of cruise to nowhere it just may branch out.

Americans just need to get used to the fact that Disney cruising is not Americancentric any more and not all cruise ships and cruise regions are for the American market. This is giving me flashbacks of 2021 on here, when everyone was so against the UK staycation cruises to no where, saying it would fail and what were Disney thinking, that without the Americans travelling to Europe the ships would be empty as no one would book them. Well that turned out to be completely wrong and now the UK cruising market is huge and demand is off the scale.

Why is it not a disney ship? It looks like it may even be more disney then the current ones to be honest.
It is absolutely Disney. They pretty much bought the shell and engines as they went a billion bucks over the billion dollar budget to make it “Disney”. Link. It’s not what was originally intended to be as the Global Dream. Is it going to resemble the other Disney ships? Nope. And Disney isn’t dumb enough to pretend it will either giving it a Class of its own. It has always been destined for the Asian market and Disney did not change that- can you imagine the hemorrhaging their FL fleet would go through if that monstrosity came to home port in FL?!! Singapore should be a nice home port as Japan announced their own ship in the next few years and China isn’t the best place to home port a ship for international appeal.

(And to the next person who tells you it isn’t “Disney” just remind them it is a major cruise ship in ASIA with no gambling. If they know even the slightest bit about Asia that will give them pause.)

In November 2022 Disney bought the unfinished Global Dream cruise ship. It was not designed by Disney and major parts of the ship were constructed before Disney bought the ship.

Disney then finished the construction and re themed the Global Dream and renamed it Disney Adventure. It was always planned for the Japan Chinese market.

Thats just the basic structure of the ship that wasnt designed by disney. It doesnt really mean anything. There is nothing disney specific about the structure of any of the other dcl ships.

All the theming and art was very much designed by disney for the disney adventure and thats what make a disney ship.

The uk cruising market is not huge. They have 7-10 cruises a year. Thats tiny.

It will be curious to see what happens once the wish class ship for Japan starts sailing. With that one being operated by Oriental LandCo, I see it catering more to the Asian market, specifically Japan.
Ehh… idk if it will see much hit. Singapore was almost an 8 hour flight from Japan when I did it last year, it’s not like hoping from Southeast Asia or Malaysia to Singapore is. In the US that almost makes it comparable to a Caribbean trip from southeast US or a Mediterranean trip out of Europe- very different trips!

Ohh!! That is fascinating. I was shocked when I first saw the schedule of cruises to nowhere but know your market!

China and japan are not the local market. Its a 6 hr flight from shanghai to singapore. A 7 hour flight from tokyo to singapore. Singapore is not a long weekend destination for these markets.

You wouldnt say northern africa is the local market for london. Yet flights from london to Morocco are only 3.5 hours.

But that may be what the local market wants. I think DCL probably did a little research before they bought the ship.
I doubt it. They did no research at all when they sent the wonder to australia and stuffed that market up in every way imaginable.

This will be the same. Im guessing within 18 months this ship is running at massive losses if it persists with the cruises to nowhere.

I don’t know enough about the Asian market to really know but it seems Japan & China are their larger markets (going off theme park locations). There also seems to be a lot of Japanese media & influencers on the current cruise. So I thought they’d be advertising in Japan and they might notice a hit with a new ship sailing from Japan that potentially caters more to the Asian market but pure speculation on my part. I know for me, a new ship with new entertainment and restaurants would be a bigger draw than the same ship over & over again but I’m not their target audience ;). We’re only doing the Adventure because we had already had a trip to Japan planned when they announced it.

No hurry here still haven’t sailed on the destiny or treasure and more Disney ships coming. My guess is Disney will start adding port stops to the adventure once the hype goes down. Maybe in 2-3 years. Get some good ports than we will think about it. With the prices so very low for Disney who knows could take 5 years or more.

No hurry here, while I want to just to see a few Crew members I know like Nyoman and Axel. I'd much prefer to cruise Treasure(hoping in 2027) and Destiny(September 2026)

If the rumored ship in Japan is built I'm more interested in that

We're booked for a B2B in September.

I'm still excited, but already lowering my expectations. The rooms, except for the bathrooms, don't look great. I much prefer the classic styling and theming of the Wonder and Magic. The rooms look too sparse and utilitarian. For us, the inside stateroom also looks quite dark, although I'm not sure I've seen photos with every single light on. But, we don't plan to spend much time in the room.

I'm not thrilled about having to book character meets, the Royal Gathering, the three "theme park" rides and quick service restaurants (?) once onboard - possibly immediately after the emergency / muster drill when 3,000 to 6,000 other people will also be trying to book everything! That seems crazy stressful and chaotic and not a great way to start a cruise when I just want to relax and enjoy.

It's disappointing that one of the stage shows has seemingly already been cancelled. I'm not a pirates fan, but the absence of three Broadway-style shows in the sit-down theatre has always been a disappointing. I'm also not sure how seating will work for stage shows in the garden (including when it rains) and up near the pool for Moana. I don't really want to have to put my daughter on my shoulders for the whole show because everyone is standing and holding iPhones and iPads above their heads to film the shows.

San Fransokyo looks great with a handful of people in it, but I can't imagine how the narrow corridors, "free" arcade machines, etc will work when the ship is sailing at capacity.

The Adventure has an agreement with the Singapore Tourism Board to run 3- and 4-night cruises for the next 5 years.

The target audience may not be China and Japan, which already have Disney parks, but rather areas such as Indonesia, India, and Malaysia, which do not.
