Aloha! ***Welcome to the NEW Poly FAQ***

SOLD! I am ready to book my Dec trip to the Poly!

Now I am just trying to figure out how to book. I was going to go directly with Disney to keep it simple, but now I am thinking about going through a travel agent. I am ok with someone else "owning" don't expect any changes to the reservation with the exception of hopefully adding a whopper promo code in a few months !:cheer2:

We are AAA members, so I am aware of their extra perks. I was reading on Tikiman that if go go through Magical Vacations and ask for the "Tiki Plan" you get some sort of perk? Has anyone done this that can provide more info?

Thanks!

I would be careful of AAA perks or no perks. I have seen on other threads where many Dis'ers have had great difficulty with them getting Ressies and correcting problems when they occur. Our experience with our local AAA has been quite bad for trip ticks, notary etc. For more than 5 years it is not the service we have come to expect from AAA. We only have it for the premier service which includes 200 mile towing any where you choose. Since my husband goes to school 3 hours away this is a must for us.

We loved small world vacation but how can you go wrong with Tikiman. His site makes it obvious he pays attention to the details. Happy planning!;)

I wasn't sure if I'd like the food at CC's either, but ended up loving it. The Adult Grilled Cheese sandwich is fabulous, (and I don't like grilled cheese sandwiches!), and I really loved the Tonga Toast for breakfast too.

I tried the Aloha Pork Sandwich, the Multigrain Turkey Club, the Grilled Cheese Sandwich, the Caesar Salad with Chicken, and the Stir-Fried Noodles and loved all of them. :)

MMMM, Adult grilled cheese!!!! :cloud9: I even loved the chips that came with it! I don't eat pork so I skipped that sandwich but the Caesar Salad and even the cheeseburger was very good! :thumbsup2: Breakfast was pretty good.

I will say one thing I like about CS over at the GF is that view of Cinderella's Castle. ;)

Hello everyone!!!! I just wanted to hop on board because my DBF finally agreed to upgrading from POP to the Poly in June with the 40% off pin-code we received! I've always dreamed of staying there!! :cloud9:

CONGRATS! How great is that? A pin *and* you get to use it at the Poly. :goodvibes

Are the Kona sticky wings ever in the club level lounge? I would love to try these, but since we are on the regular dining plan, we can't get an appetizer when we eat at Kona :(

Thanks!

They were in the CL lounge during our stay Dec '08 and are still there as far as I know. Even though you're on the regular dining plan, you can still order the wings--you'd just have to pay out of pocket for them. :goodvibes I've done this while on the regular dining plan when I wanted the crab cakes or shrimp appetizer. :thumbsup2

Quick question. I heard about complimentary Wi-Fi in the Poly CL lounge. Does anyone know if that is true?

Carlnix30 is correct--there is a Wi-Fi signal (actually a few of them) but it is password protected. No resort on Disney property has Wi-Fi access that is complimentary. I know my iPhone picked up several Wi-Fi networks when we were on property. And just as an FYI, if you have a 3G phone, the signal is awesome at the MK resort area.

Thanks tiggspring! I am in NC so Disney travel is a HUGE part of our local AAA's business. There are several specialists in the office, so I am comfortable with the idea of it all. I will make my own ADR's and flight arrangements, so I just need them to book room, tx, & dining. The only "extra" perk we are likely to use from them is the Storybook experience as we are flying and not renting a car. I am curious as to what the "Tiki Plan" entails - if it is worth loosing "control" over my own ressie!

ETA: The AAA preferred viewing sounds kind of nice, too!

We changed our reservation from the CR to the Poly! Our son wanted to stay there. But we got married at the Poly and we're celebrating our 10th anniversary. We'll stay at the CR sometime. We just had our hearts in the Poly this time.

thanks for the feedback on the water parade! Sounds like you can just stroll out there a few minutes before it starts. Can't wait (except waiting for my pin code with high hopes!)

thanks to all for for answering my question :flower3:

O.k. maybe I have a bad case of the POLYitis, but I have read everything in my POLY search threads, every review everywhere, devoured tikiman, read every page on this thread and have my trip completely planned, read all the POLY trip reports I could even the ones that went on for years and years about everything but the POLY :headache: ...anybody else as obsessed as I am?

The good thing is from all of this reading I do not think I have too high of expectations, I have my rose colored glasses off, but I am still really exited to be able to stay at the POLY. It has been a dream for a looooooong time to stay at the POLY. So I really do not think it will dissapoint me at all.

Now I have another:lmao: please have patience with my ramblings, but I can not talk to DH about my obsession. He is fine with me obsessing, because he says there are much worse things, but he does not want to hear about our trip, he just wants to show up... so thanks! :flower3:

So has anyone done the Movie? Where exactly is it? and on what nights? Is it at the GF or the POLY? What time do they show the movie and what do they show the movie on?

Part of the "Tiki Plan"--We would receive a HUGE Poly gift basket (full of fruit, kona coffee, beans, chocolates) and a Disney Florist's bouquet-polynesian style, of course.
Some tiki stuff too.:)

We're all obsessed, some of us suffering from PPDS...I've been back for almost two weeks and I am still not over the fact that I'm not looking at my castle anymore :( :sad1:

True that! But if you eat outside of CC's you can still see it... :upsidedow

It was a dream for me too for a long time. I wasn't disappointed when I finally got to stay there either. :goodvibes

Have you looked at the photos (not the reviews) on Tripadvisor yet? They have some good ones on there. :)

The movies are on the beach between the GF and the Poly. They are typically shown every night except Monday and Tuesday. I think every month they change the rotation of the movies so it will depend on when you are there.

There is a campfire before the movie and they sell s'more materials in little packets. They also play some rockin music before the movie while the sun is setting waiting for the darkness to fall. There are beach lounge chairs that you can sit back and relax on.

DH and I took turns walking to the GF pool bar to buy a few rounds of cocktails to enjoy during the movie while DD had a blast playing with the other kids and watching the movie. Good fun for free (minus the cocktails and s'more packages):thumbsup2

With all the fresh air and relaxing by the lagoon watching the movie, we all passed out cold that night :faint: and slept like rocks!

They were on the updated menu I posted last fall. I forget which day the wings were offered. I'll see if I can find my post and give you the day. :thumbsup2

Post #221 in this thread I posted a menu for the lounge that went into effect in the fall--around October 1. The wings are served on Wednesdays.

:thumbsup2

Thank you for your feedback! I'm excited to try them. It sounds like the appetizer is a big portion, and my DBF doesn't like wings, so it just won't work out to order them at Kona. I'm glad there is an alternative for me :)

Hello! We were at the Poly - Hawaii building - a couple of weeks ago and can confirm that the Sticky Wings were still being served in the Lounge and I do believe it was still on Wednesday. Tikiman's site seems to be correct...my boys insisted we make our plans on being in the lounge on certain days so they could try items that really interested them, so I had planned ahead using his site. From all I can remember, Tikiman was absolutely correct!

9 days left! I already did online check in yesterday. Now to start ironing :( I just have to convince myself that all the work now means less while there. Thanks for all the pics. Maybe I can figure it out when we get back since I got a new camera just for the trip. :)

Just had to share that I booked our December trip this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We'll be TPVCL December 1-8!!! I am soooooo excited!! We're only going to WDW once this year, and it's soooo far away, but booking it has definitely given me a mini-Disney high today!

YEAH for you!

Let's say that CL is not a factor. In your opinion, which longhouse has the best location & the best TPV? Hawaii or Tahiti? Depending on what I find out after I do my taxes this weekend, there might be a Hawaii TPV in my future.....however, if many of you say you like Tahiti over Hawaii, it would be hard to justify. I seem to remember Dawgdad saying her liked the Tahiti longhouse better than Hawaii..... decisions....decisions.....

The TPVCL (f/k/a LVC) are the best on the resort property. I like Tahiti, but the added service at CL, the location of the longhouse, and the terrific views make Hawaii a preferred location for me. :lovestruc
