ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

Bummer :sad2:

Anyone know the nearest spa (not hot tub, but place to book a massage!) to the Poly since GF will be closed?

And is there anywhere that someone is posting the month's movies for the Poly?

Thx!

Hello -

The family and I will be staying at the Poly for our upcoming trip and a friend of mine has said that there are speakers under the water in the pool?? Any truth to this?

Yes, you can hear music under water!;)

Does anyone know for sure if people from Poly can use GF hotub ?

You are welcome to use the hot tub at the Health & Fitness Club at GF. Polynesian guests are not permitted to use the pools and outdoor hot tub at GF. Of course, if for some reason the Polynesian pools are closed, GF has permitted the Polynesian guests to use the pool areas. That is a very rare occurrence.

Yay, you finally got it!, your right 9pm is alot better than 9:50pm, try some more and you could get an even better dinner time!:thumbsup2

Yes ! It is 7:50 about 8:00 you mise well say :banana: They do pop up every now and then, but people snatch them up pretty quick.

Another question...if you go to the Tambu lounge and get say a Lapu Lapu :rolleyes1...can you take it down by the pool with you? I am thinking the night we arrive (hoping to be checked in around 9:30) the kids may want to swim for a bit before heading to bed. DH and I may like to have a drink while watching them swim, but I'd like to start my trip to the Poly off right with the glorious pineapple!

This is my tradition at the start of a Disney trip even when I am not staying at the Polynesian (which is often not, it's out of my budget for as often as we go-- thinking of switching it up to less trips, more Poly action). Even when we went to Universal I still drove over to the Poly the night we got there, grabbed a Lapu and watched the fireworks from the beach. So I am here to tell you that you can take your Lapu all around the resorts. When we were staying at Fort, we quit MK in the late afternoon, I boated over to the Poly to get a Lapu, then hit the boats again to get back to Fort. Taking a Lapu outside of its native habitat is a fun experience. Everyone's eyes get wide and you get many comments on where they can obtain a Lapu of their own. Spreading the Lapu love is one of my favorite things to do. I saved my pineapple in my cabin fridge and finished it after my nap.

I miss Disney World!

Although next time I'm going to make it a point to try that Blackberry something Lemonade someone mentioned from the pool bar. Sounds good!

Hi Poly fans,
Only 13 days until our trip to the Poly :woohoo:! We have a reservation at Kona Grill on our first night, and I would love to know what people recommend for dinner there. I've heard the teriyaki steak is great, but what else would you recommend?

Thanks!

You're welcome, I thought about for myself, but I would personally not be able to relax with all that noise & people,:scared1: it would stress me out more, I would need a massage after my massage, lol!:rotfl:

Its about 18 hours. We stop in GA at a hotel. We don't like to drive if we are tired. 5 of us on a plane is so pricey and we like having a car when we're there. We're doing IOA too for the first time. The kids are excited to see Hogwarts. It does look really cool. Can't wait.:woohoo:

You're welcome, now relax and have a wonderful massage. Let us know if you get one in cabana or what spa you select, I've heard alot of people rave about Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa!

Could someone tell me how much it costs to do a load of laundry?
I can't believe I'm asking this I swore I would NEVER do laundry on vacation.

8 days left!!!:banana::banana::banana:

I can't wait!!!!
We actually leave in 3 days b/c we're staying at HRH before heading over to the Poly.
This is gonna be the best b-day ever, even if it's the big 4 0!!
:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Thanks to all you Poly experts I learned so much. Soon I'll be sitting on the beach w/ my Lapu Lapu and Pina Colava.
Safe and happy travels to all leaving soon.
ALOHA:)

I'm turning the BIG 40 on 8/23, but not celebrating until October....when's your b-day????

I believe it is $2 to wash and either $1.50 or $2 to dry....

Also related to this, does the Poly laundry still require coins? Last year at CR, we could use our room key to charge it , which was so easy. It would be great if the Poly has this now.

I am so excited!!!!:cool1: :woohoo: :yay:
We are so close to our trip! Who cares about laundry!!? :yay:

My B-Day is actually the weekend after we come home 9/3.
But I am CELEBRATING from 8/21-8/28 :thumbsup2
And what better place to do that than Disney!!!!
:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Okay...not happy that the maximum occupany for the regular cabanas is only 6, especially since there is a total of 8 sitting options (two cushioned lounge chairs, one love seat (2) and four chairs with two foot stools. We have a party of 8, which includes 3 kids - two of which are 12 and 5 and will probably pre-occupied with the pool and arcade.

So now I am thinking of renting the two regualar cabanas for 4 hours. I think it is to much space, but I don't like the location of the Premium Cabana and it would be cheaper. Two cabanas at $110 each for four hours.

It just stinks because that is $110 of Banana Cabanas, Lapu Lapus, and Mai Tais down the drain for space we probably won't need.

I just don't know......:confused3

Feel free to have a cocktail for me on 8/23!!!! I wish I was there, but we are meeting in the middle since we are also celebrating my DBIL 50th bday, which is in November.

Enjoy and Happy Early Birthday!!!
