ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

The rest of our traveling party all switched to the poly this week! For 7 nights there will be 11 of us in 3 rooms, and then also Linley my MIL for 2-3 nights as well. Hope they all love it as mich as we do!

So glad you enjoyed your stay! I had asked about CL offerings a couple of days ago to help me decide whether to spring for it or not. Another person felt the morning offerings were not fresh and the evening appetizers were supermarket caliber. What were your favorite evening offerings? Did you find the food fresh and well-prepared?

We are not picky, but stale food would be very disappointing. The idea of being able to graze is really appealing since my children are growing and eating ALL of the time. Having beverages available throughout the day would be great, too. I may have talked myself back into splurging!

One night was sushi-I am not a fan but my kids loved it. Another nite Kona salad-delicious, chicken wrapped in bacon and baked brie puffs. Wed night was chicken wings-delicious, pork dumplings and a cold soup. Also a vegetable quesadilla one night. As well as a great assortment of cheeses, crackers, veggies, pita bread, hummus, corn dogs for the kids. I thought the dessertrs were just ok- and stayed the same most nights. Wine and beer and specialty cocktail every night :) Food was very fresh and refilled often.
Hope this helps!

It does :goodvibes The food sounds tasty and plenty for an evening snack. Thank you for taking the time!

Just wanted to add my 2 cents ... we stayed at the Poly CL in October. This was our third trip to the Poly, the first time staying CL and I have to say as a mom I LOVED the lounge. It was so nice to have that extra 'living space' outside of the room. They have a nice kids' table set up by the tv or you can relax at one of the tables overlooking the lagoon. Up in the loft there is another sitting area and some game tables (checkers etc). Loved it so much we are staying CL again our for our next trip.

Which is my cue to  ... just booked this afternoon and am getting our new banner up and running!

Okay Poly lovers...here is my issue. Discounts have not happened yet for this trip. We are arriving on June 13th with the rest of our party on the 14th. So that is only two days at 20% for us and 20% for one day for everyone else.

It has my parents looking at other options since they are paying for 5 rooms. They are considering moving to the Boardwalk Inn or Beach Club...:confused3. We don't have any issues since we will move to the Poly after everyone leaves. As Poly lovers...which would you prefer and why? I am looking for pros and cons.

Thanks!:santa:

Personally I would have issues with the Boardwalk because of that evil clown slide :scared1: (trying to shake that image off now ... )

We arrived at the Poly at about 6:30pm last night. We are in Hawaii, GV, 3rd floor, loving it! The room feels very updated. Plenty of space for 5 adults. Comfy beds. Bounceback offer in the room!!!

Just an update on the volcano pool slide. Poly IPO just got back with me and confirmed that the slide is going to be down for about 2 weeks starting 1/16/12. Huge bummer for us. Hope it doesn't affect anyone else too badly :goodvibes

Bummer! Maybe they will get it finished a little early in time for the end of our trip? Fingers crossed!

Alright, I've just put a depost down for May 5-12. This will be our first stay at the Polynesian and the first visit for my daughters (ages 4 and 6). What building would you recommend? I'm thinking it will be better to be by the pool or the monorail, but I'm a complete newbie. Thoughts?

Congrats! My favorite is Tokelau. It has a great view of the quiet pool and is centrally located between the GCH and TTC, so you can catch the monorail or a bus in either spot. It's also quieter than being right near the volcano pool. GL!

This happened during one of our trips too. They put us in a speed boat and took us to the GF. It turned out to be awesome.

Good luck!

This really upsets me to read it. Will they comp us somehow? We arrive the 22nd for 6 nights. My kids were really looking forward to that slide!

I haven't received my packet either we arrive on the 8th of January, but I have heard to start looking for it 2 weeks out. Hope you have a great vacation!:goodvibes

You cannot go wrong with Samoa/volcano pool side/patio. It is close to everything. The Polynesian resort is small enough, however, that everywhere is close to everything! At Samoa, you're just steps from the pool(s), the beach (Wishes and Electrical Light Pageant), the Luau, the Great Ceremonial House (shopping, O'hana, Kona, the Tambu Lounge, and Capt Hooks), bus stop, boat dock, monorail, and about 3-5 minutes from the EPCOT monorail. Being on the monorail loop, you can visit the Grand Floridian and the Contemporary resorts for shopping and dining.

Nice ticker :thumbsup2

Back atcha! :thumbsup2

Unfortunately, I don't think they will. On one trip the slide was down and, as
mickey2minnie1 said, they provided a dedicated water taxi to the GF for the use of their waterslide. They also have the quiet pool available (no slide, I know, but there is another pool on site you can use).

We get there on Jan 22nd but haven't gotten our Mickey mail yet. I paid off the trip back in Oct.

I got mine super early. It varies from person to person, but usually they say 2-3 weeks before your trip. Have you checked your ressie online to make sure they have your flight info?
