ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

I am at 12 days and counting...Should I do online check-in? I haven't done it for the past three trips since we were staying CL, but this trip I have just a GV reserved. I haven't made any requests yet for a longhouse or floor level, if I do online check-in can I do it then? Still can't decide what longhouse to request. I'd like to be near the GCH but also near the pool but also have an easier walking distance to TTC. When I made the reservations initially - there was a spot to list who you were traveling with and if you wanted connecting rooms - I listed my parents and they listed us. Should I reiterate that request if I do online check-in?
That is it for the questions, I think.... getting so excited for this trip! I haven't stayed at the Polynesian since 1973!

Did you know that the Polynesian Resort and the Grand Floridian resorts now both have their own outdoor movie?

Unfortunately, you can't make any longhouse or floor requests via online check-in. I am unsure about connecting rooms - I don't believe you can request that either. Your best bet is to call reservations and have them note your preferences on your reservation.

Hello...we'll be at the Poly in February and I'm so excited! :thumbsup2 We are booked with GV room and I was thinking about requesting Tokelau for our longhouse. Do my eyes deceive me, or are there full balconies on the second and third floors there?

No deception, patios on 1st, balconies on 2 and 3. :thumbsup2

Here now! Got a nice ground floor Samoa room, just outside the Volcano pool. Great, convenient location. Weather has been a little cool at night, but it looks like it should be pretty pleasant all week. :cloud9:

Thinking about staying here--can you actually sit out on the balconies? The pics are a little deceiving. I see the chairs on the first floor, but not on 2 or 3.

Any ideas on room requests? Specifically, I want a clear view of the East Pool. Also, does anyone know how deep it is? 24 hours? Temps at Xmas?

Thanks:worship::worship:

Have you checked out the tikiman site? He does a great job of mapping out the lodges and their views. http://www.tikimanpages.com/tiki/quick-longhouses :thumbsup2

I have never been there in December, so I am not sure about pool temps or hours that time of year though - so maybe another diser can help you out there. (I think MAYBE the pool is always open 24 hours though, but I could be wrong)

Yes, you can actually sit out on the balconies or patios at the Polynesian and have room to move around. The balconies are not as small as the balconies at BC.

Some second floor balconies will be standing room only, though. We're usually in Hawaii, so I'm not sure which others are standing balconies.

We just stayed in Tokelau 3rd Floor and had a clear view of the quiet pool. It is about 3'ft deep. There are no lifeguards on duty in the quiet pool. When we were there a few weeks ago, lifeguards were on duty in the volcano pool until 8:00 pm. but were told that the pool is open until Midnight; reopens at 7:00 a.m. I assume the same holds true for the quiet pool.

Thank you all so much for your replies. Just changed our reservation to the Poly and requested a third floor full balcony with a pool view. Hope we get lucky and get our requests:wizard::wizard: So excited! The kids (DS23, DD19 and DS16) think we are going to the Dolphin and our last night at the YC. :santa::santa: Ha Ha surprise to them!! I can almost hear the waterfalls and see all the beautiful foliage. Isn't funny how clear the lobby stands out in your mind!!
