Sending pixie dust to everyone leaving soon for magical trips :wizard:

We just returned a week ago, but wish I could go back right now :goodvibes

I say we plan a Poly board trip!! Now wouldn't that be cool.

I highly doubt they would work on those major areas at the same time but who knows. I would be shocked if they did. The pool construction is suppose to start in January so I would think once they have all that done, they would move on to the GCH.

I can't decide if I would rather they just do it all at once and *boom* it's done, or focus on one area at a time. Either way, it will be yucky for a while.

Greetings! Aloha! and All that Jazz!

I have a poster on the CL thread who is having a difficult time dealing with the IPO at the POLY, and wants to know who to contact about that. I would assume the GM for the resort would be the one to contact? Does anyone know his/her name and address/email address? Or can anyone help me out on who to contact with IPO issues?

Thanks!

If this is about not getting the ADR's she wanted then I am sorry I gave out the name of who to call. This is NOT a reason to complain to management. This is a situation brought on by not scheduling when she should have. IPO has NO pull in getting ADR's when the person wants them. She is lucky she even got the 5:50 seating. There are people going crazy trying to get that time. She should be happy with what she got seeing as she waited so long. Sorry to sound cranky but there are reasons to complain and reasons not to and this is a reason not to.

I tend to think they will make is as unobtrusive as they possibly can. This is one of their flagship resorts and I am sure they do not want to drive people away. No one is even really sure about the pool as we are getting conflicting reports. One was told that the pool would be down in January and I was told that the pool refurbishment was put off indefinitely. Both of us got our information from the people at the marina who are in charge of the refurbishments. I can almost assure you that they will not close down the entire GCH at one time. There is too much that goes on in there for them to do that. I figure they are going to work on it section by section sealing off the area that they are working on due to the asbestos. There just is no other place in the resort that I know of that would be able to handle the check in of guests.

Understand that the recreations staff is not in charge of the refurbishments at the pool. They are a good resource for information because they will need to be notified when things are going to happen but they have no control over what happens and when. That is decided out in California.

This is why we have to take what is said with a grain of salt. I was told that the director of the marina which is who she spoke with does have the last word on what happens with the pools. So again conflicting information. At least for me I am playing it by ear and seeing what happens when and not putting any real belief in what I hear. I mean letters from the resort are one thing but what one person at the resort says over another is something else.

Me too! I almost wish they would just close the whole thing and bang it all out at once, I know they wont, but I kinda wish they would.

Good point!:thumbsup2

Sorry, but I have to rant a little. :sad2: I'm checking in in 2 days and starting my package with free dining on the second. Not getting magic bands or fp+ because that starts on the 3rd. Really? One lousy day? To top it off I have had nothing but problems since I made my first reservation for this vacation. Top it off, we just changed to the Poly from the BC and the ME they sent me only included me and my DD - not my DH or two DS's. I should be happy going to DW and the Poly but I am just not feeling it this time. Everything is just bringing me down. I wish I could be excited. Not even sure I still want the ADR's we booked a while back anymore. I just need something to go right for a change and bring me out of this funk.

Sorry. I don't mean to be a Negative Nelly, just needed to get it out. Thanks for listening.

cart-mom When you check in ask if you can get magic bands for the family, tell them youd really like to be part of the testing.

Id call DME and explain what happened, all of you wont have any problems getting on DME its the hassle of having to get the bags that dont have the ME tags yourself. If you call tho they will have the correct tags for your departure.

Chin up your going to WDW and your going to have a fabulous time like it or Not Missy!! lol

Post some pics Id love to see some when you arrive, we check in next Sun 9/8-9/15!!!

Why not. They built the original resort in 6 months.

I received a letter in the mail today. We check in Oct 19th. It says "Sunset Point and a portion of the beach will be unavailable. Rest assured, much of our wonderful white-sand beach will be open and accessible, providing the South Seas ambience and views of the Magic Kingdom Park that makes Disney's Polynesian Resort such an enchanting destination. All of our world class amenities, including our shops, pools, marina, and wonderful dining experiences are also still available for you to enjoy." The letter is signed by the general manager, Norman Noble.

We check in October 19 too. No letter for us yet....

Trying to change my ringtone on my phone to get me more and more excited for our November trip... Any suggestions on songs?!! Right now it's Hawaiian roller coaster ride :)

Wel they just told me today that there is no director of the marina position but the manager of recreation said there were plans to resurface the pool in January. I don't know if that will turn into the big renovation that Imagnieering has planned but someone outside of the Polynesian makes those decisions and then informs the recreation manager of what will be happening. We have a long time until then so I am sure I will hear more about what and when by then.

I heard they took down some of the hammocks on the beach down by the Hawaii LH? Is this true?

I shared a photo from Jeff Lange standing where one of the hammocks is missing just days ago on my facebook.

Don't feel bad. We are going in September and are part of the test. I've had a number of problems getting MDE to work correctly and booking fast passes. To the point I was so stressed by it last night I almost had to bake a box of brownies to calm me down. (Settled for a couple chocolates instead.) :-)

While it may be magical once released to general public, this test phase can be frustrating at times. I've had numerous long calls with tech support. While they have been great, it is still a bit of a headache. I'm most at the point of where I'm only going to FP+ a few things and just take the rest of the vacation as it comes. Also, I don't trust all to be fully linked to magic bands yet. So I'll be taking the park passes, KttW card, credit card and ID with me wherever I go, as back up.

I hope you feel better about you trip in a couple of days and once you get there you can just relax and have a great time!
