I think I'm going to cancel Chef Mickey's for this Saturday night. :worried: Normally we do a big dinner for our arrival, but this is the first time we'll be taking a 6:00 AM flight and I'm worried the kids are going to be too tired to eat dinner at 8:30 PM (that was all they had left). We'll probably wake them up around 4:00 AM that morning. It's going to be a long day, we land at 8:30, take ME to the Poly, I'm sure our room won't be ready, which means we'll be heading straight to the parks for the day. This is the only down side to the credit card guarantee, I don't want to get stuck paying a fee if everyone is too tired to eat. Hmmmmm, what to do

Maybe try a walk up when they open. I also think I saw a 5:10 on the 29th for 5.

That's good advice :) I think I'll go ahead and cancel now, just to make sure they get the required 24 hour notice, then we can hop on the monorail and go over there early just to see what they say. If they can't take us we can always just eat at the Contempo Cafe. They have the BEST CUPCAKES there!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

Sounds like you have a great plan, but I just wanted to make a comment since we were just in almost the exact same situation as you will be. Just a couple weeks ago, we stayed at Poly CL too (:cloud9:). We also had a very early arrival flight -- I mean, we arrived at Poly before breakfast in the lounge ended. Anyway, we booked a big meal for lunch that day because I knew we'd all be tired that night. So we ate at Crystal Palace around 1:30ish and stayed at MK for a bit. Then when we all felt like we were going to drop due to exhaustion, we went back to Poly and enjoyed the lounge. The hot appetizers were plenty for us as we just had a big meal at lunch. We then went back to our room to relax....sat out on our patio while the girls played in the sand....got dessert in the lounge, watched Wishes, and called it a night! Poly really was the perfect place for us to stay -- it was all-around one of the best Disney trips we've had, and I never thought anything could come close to the Beach Club for us. :)

Well, we have decided to take our bunch and move over to WL CL, it's $71 more than a Standard room at Poly and we can save by having breakfast in the lounge, especially since the baby gets up really early. And my husband is much happier at WL anyway :goodvibes

I will get to stay at the Poly someday ::yes::

The Poly is an amazing resort, but so is the WL :). The Poly is our favorite resort, but the WL runs a very close second (especially when staying CL at the WL :goodvibes). Have a great trip :wizard:.

Thank you. We haven't stayed there since Aug 2007 and we loved it, looking forward to it and our first CL stay. BWI is my favorite, so far.

I think I would prefer Poly when it will be just my husband and myself, anyway.

You will be in good hands because the WL Planning Office is the same staff over at the Polynesian Island Planning Office.

Wow !! Just checked in today after 4 nights at BC, Love it already!! Got all my requests: Samoa, 1st floor facing pool. It's fantastic. Walked right out if sliding doors straight to the pool!!

Tikiman can you share your Facebook page with us?

Steve's (Tikiman) fb page is Tikiman's Unofficial Polynesian Resort page. If you go to fb and search it, it comes up.

Nice to know someone is as petite as I am. Now if I could only get to my goal weight I wold be really happy.

And I'm only 5'1" - so not much taller! My DS12 is only 2" away from my height. Dh is 6'1", so I'm sure I'll be looking up at my ds in the very near future!

Only 8 more days till I'm in my happy place! :cloud9:

Hi all,

I hope it's okay to post pictures here. We came back from celebrating my 50th birthday, CL at the Poly. Our first time CL and first time at the Poly. Only 2 days (July 18 & 19), but absolutely fantastic.

Here is the view from our room (Hawaii 2511):

And here is the view of the fireworks at night from our room:

Here is the room itself. There was a hidden Mickey towel on the bed, but my son changed it before I took the picture. My daughter is sitting on the daybed, holding our welcome leis.

One thing that I didn't expect was seeing the Grand Floridian RIGHT THERE when I looked out our doors. By the way, we were pixie dusted... We had booked a CL standard view room. I was kind of hoping for a balcony, but when I saw that we had been upgraded to a Theme Park view, I forgot all about wanting a balcony!

Here's the boat dock at the Poly, also viewed from our room. The Grand Floridian can be seen through the palm trees and just beyond the boat dock.

Here's a view of the beach at the Poly and the Grand Floridian RIGHT THERE, lol.

This kind of gives a better idea of what the second floor rooms without a balcony are like. As I said, I had been kind of hoping to have a balcony, but for the convenience of being on the same floor as the Lounge, I didn't mind not having one at all. And the doors do open, just as if you did have a balcony.

For those who are interested in the daybed, here is my daughter sleeping on it. She's 5'4" and 110 lbs. She said it was very comfortable. (sorry for the husband in MM slippers and the messy room, lol.)

Thanks for posting the pictures! I can't get enough of them. I find myself scouring youtube for Poly videos I haven't seen yet. Just under 32 days till my husband and I head there for our first Poly stay (TPV). I can't wait. My husband made me a countdown website that literally counts the seconds... there are just under 3 million of them left. He's such a dork.

Have a great time :yay:. We stayed in Samoa and had a first floor room and loved it.

Thanks for posting those pics Napria! :) I've always wondered what the 2nd floor rooms look like from the inside.
