I believe the footprint for POFQ to be similar to POLY if not smaller but POR is much larger. I understand POFQ to be the smallest resort at WDW. If I understand the question correctly.

I actually disagree with this Carl. I have stayed here several times and I am also a travel agent and moderate resorts who are "Large" and have a larger layout offer preferred rooms such as CBR, CSR and POR but POFQ does not. It is the smallest resort on property and from a building farthest out it would be a max 5 minute walk.

Yes you are correct.

OK! But in any case, the Poly is still rather small? Maybe just a tad bigger than POFQ?

Also, are there stairs throughout the longhouses or is it just one central staircase? I know for POFQ there was a staircase near our end of the building which was much more convenient than having to walk in a big circle to reach the staircase, and then walk back in the direction we came from once on ground level!

The POFQ 126 acres and has 1008 rooms Polynesian 39 acres and has 847 rooms.

POFQ is the smallest moderate resort on property. But it is not smaller than the poly as far as acreage. Please understand I am not knocking POFQ but walking just from my sons room last year to the boat dock took us at least 15 minutes. maybe I was sight seeing a little too much? :confused3
POFQ would be our moderate of choice. :thumbsup2

There is an elevator in each longhouse and two stairwells so you have options! :)

Welcome! It's not barging at all :goodvibes There are two pools at the Poly. The main pool (volcano pool) has some depths to 4' 6" (I'm approximating here based on what I remember seeing and how tall I am which is 5' 4" and I've never had to go on tip toes to keep my head above water but I am up to my shoulders). The East pool (some people call it the quiet pool) was recently made more shallow. It is not over 5'. Again, I'm using my own experience in the pool as a guide. It felt deeper than the volcano pool but not by much.

The volcano pool is the only pool with a lifeguard but they go off duty anywhere from 8 - 10 pm based on the season. The east pool has no lifeguards. I've swam in both pools late in the evening - they stay open even without lifeguards. I'm not sure about official closing times. We've swam in the east pool at 1 am but we were quiet and there were other people there. But I imagine you would get kicked out if you were loud that late at night.

THANK YOU for this info! I appreciate it! My boys are iffy swimmers despite private lessons for awhile now. I'm hoping to get them some good swimming practice in while we're there. The depth sounds perfect so we can be there to help them along on our own feet, but it would be slightly over their heads in some areas (which is easier to learn to swim that way, I think.)

Anyway, THANKS!

Looking to my Poly Peeps for some help. We have a big trip coming up in June. My parents are treating everyone to a trip to WDW. As a Christmas present I have reserved the two regular cabanas for an afternoon, but now I am looking for a birthday/mother's day/father's day gift for my parents. I know my Mom would love a wine, cheese and cracker gift basket, but there are no good options at Disney Florist or at Betsy's Gift Baskets. Any other suggestions?

Marina area. Love the vibe here, but I am glad we were given Tahiti and not Fiji. I think the noise/high energy from the pool area would have irritated me by mid-week. We really appreciated being a bit away from the motion and commotion so we could RELAX and feel like we were on a tropical getaway.

I think you are right as well. Although the Poly has less rooms you have to take size of the rooms into consideration and I think it would actually end up being equal in space! The grounds are smaller because the grounds end just past the longhouses whereas on POFQ grounds they extend a bit beyond the buildings. I find it much longer to walk from end to end at the Poly than at POFQ. I think we can both be right! :thumbsup2

POFQ grounds are absolutley lovely! All the benches and huge trees.. Yep we can both be right!

We stayed in CBR and will never do it again! The resort was way too big for us. We booked a preferred room.. But even that made us question the value. My grown son stayed in POFQ and visiting him had me considering a future stay there. I really like the quant feel and size of it.

DH and I are extremely disappointed to hear about the upcoming monorail closure. We will be arriving in 6 days with ou 4 1/2 year old DD, and our main reason for choosing Poly was the easy monorail access to MK, especially for afternoon breaks. I'm sure we have no recourse, but we are really, really upset by this. :-(

Shameless countdown post!! :D

First stay at Poly & first time club level in 4 days!! Can't wait! Now hopefully there will not be any rain on Saturday while we're at Epcot or Sunday for the cabana rental.

I can completely understand being disappointed! :-(. Did you get a letter saying it would be down when you're there? Hopefully it won't impact your whole stay!
