We love the main pool at the Poly. It does not have anything like the lazy river, but it is quite large, with a waterfall, the volcano slide (which is enclosed & you ride in the dark - the kids love it), and a zero entry leading out onto the beach. The best part though is the view of the castle off in the distance as you enjoy the pool!

The pool itself is smaller relative to most of the other Deluxe resorts, so it can get crowded during peak pool times of the day. But that does not mean the pool is any less great when it comes to features!

The theming is lush, the water slide is fantastic (dark and with ambient lighting) and there is a waterfall that flows down the mountain and into the pool!

Even better, there is a zero-entry area with a gradual slope that allows guests to simply "walk" into the pool, like a beach.

Speaking of a beach, right across the walkway from the pool is a white sand beach with an excellent view of the Seven Seas Lagoon and Cinderella's Castle.

Disney's website also advertises underwater music and warm water jets within the pool as well, but these features seem to be hit-or-miss.

On many "Top 10" lists, the Polynesian's pool follows SAB at the Yacht and Beach Club, so that must mean something!

The Volcano Pool is relaxing and beautiful, but it's far from spacious. I love it there, but it does get very crowded in the afternoon.

I can completely understand being disappointed! :-(. Did you get a letter saying it would be down when you're there? Hopefully it won't impact your whole stay!

Actually, as soon as I read about the monorail closing on here, I emailed our travel agent. She said she will forward my email to her sales manager. She said she knew something was going on with the monorail a few months ago but that she hadn't been notified about this one/these dates. Still waiting to hear back from her!

Can't wait! I will be in the World on Saturday! We are leaving Friday! Unfortunately, my bff wanted to try the new Princess Rooms at POR so I won't be at the Poly this time but I will be back in September! Of course we will be eating dinner at Ohana! I had to at least go visit for a few!

I tried searching this thread but with no luck. My husband would love to have one of those huge pineapple drinks. How much are they? Do they make a non-alcoholic version also?

I believe they are $12.95. I don't think they make them non-alcoholic because they are essentially all alcohol. However... you could probably get something else in the pineapple! Or maybe someone else can tell you what they offer for non-alcoholic?

Her sales manager won't be in the office until tomorrow, but she spoke with a cast member friend who said the limited schedule is only for today through the 4th. I will be SO psyched if that's true! Still hope to get some word from her manager tomorrow.

That would be SO great if true. Even though the other transportation options are available and look very convenient and enjoyable, there is still something extremely exciting about the monorail for me and my family.

I also read a post elsewhere online earlier this evening noting that there is a bulletin posted in the TTC that states that the monorail will be operating on a limited basis starting today until the 5th of May. So that's Sunday.

From what others have posted you can get other drinks, including soda, in the pineapple shells, but you will pay a premium for it.
