Hi all. Does anyone know if he Poly pool slide is still closed? If so, when will it be open? Thanks for the help! :goodvibes

According to Tikiman's website:

Pool update

As reported earlier, the slide was expected to open on March 9th and reports said it did that afternoon. It remains open but someone was told that it might have to close down for more work. I have not had that confirmed yet but I was told before all this started that there was going to be additional work to the pool and volcano that might cause the whole pool to close. All work is expected to be completed by April 1.

When did u book? I bought AP so am hoping for discounts for next Feb.

I did the bounce back offer but I didn't have one in the room I had to go down to GCH to ask about it. After the first two CMs just looked confused a Manager showed up and helped us.

I could have written this almost word for word but changing BC to YC! We had a nice stay at YC a few years ago but it isn't for us. The lack of a real QS, the stressful SAB, and the not-so-convenient transportation to MK were the main factors. SAB has some very nice features....the sand bottom, the little waterfalls, the "whirlpool" area....BUT as you said, you cannot see the kids from any one spot. It is so spread out with bridges and turns and little buildings blocking your vision. The fact that you have to cross the public sidewalk to access the slide is just poor planning :sad2: Most people on these boards complain that the Poly pool is too crowded and they cannot find a chair. We have NEVER had that problem. We always get one of our favorite tables--near the bar:goodvibes--and I see other tables and loungers open too. I will say though that we have never been in the summer which could affect pool overcrowding. At SAB, we had to move other peoples' "saving chair towels" just so that we could have one lounger to keep all our crap off the wet pavement. I love how the Poly pool and beach is set up. It is nice and open so that you can easily see from one to the other in case the girls want to split up. DH and I can see one another in case we need to signal the other. Usually me summoning him for another Pina Colava:love:

Oh, I totally agree about the slide!!!

Special warning!!! The first floor was awesome. But we had on several occasions to run off rude people actually sitting on our chairs on our first floor balcony! Not to sound mean, but we paid for that balcony!!

That was me - I was waiting for you to bring me a pina colava...
:rotfl:

Thanks!! Yes, that will be me...:lmao:
Or the one skipping to the check-in area from her ME Bus, shouting "DREAMS REALLY DO COME TRUE!!" :yay:

I have a feeling that I will be an emotional mess when we first get there. It's been almost 10 years since I have been back to Hawaii and this will be kind of like going "home" for me...:cloud9: So if you see a weird lady with mascara running down her face...its me and those are tears of sheer JOY :thumbsup2

I always bring water proof mascara for WDW - humidity and all - NEVER tears...;)

Yeah we love the dole whip so much for a brief moment we were thinking of leaving our clothes behind and packing the dole whip machine instead.

:thumbsup2

So someone once told me that there was one for sale???? It was like 10 grand...Oh, it's back in this thread somewhere - or maybe an old Poly thread!

When did you book? Did you book Poly?
Kids want to book CR, but unless I get a good AP discount it will be POR, or Dolphin with nurses discount.

Hey your back!! Let's hear about your celebration of disparateness! We want pics!

Our trip was amazing. We arrived room was ready did not do online check in.
Got request of Tahiti 1st floor instead of 3rd which we loved kids could go in and out, and we're surprised with an upgrade to TPV instead of LV.
Room was very quiet except when we got new neighbors the night we turned clocks ahead very NOISY glad I had my sound machine and they were gone in the am.
Mouse keeping was lousy, didn't leave us coffee, cups, extra toilet paper, took my sons bathing suit trunks & swim top, called them immediately but it was lost in laundry space, they let him pick out another swimsuit at shop. And not one towel animal. Oh well they made the beds.

I never slow down in Disney but this time we did and hung out by pool, enjoyed many Mai Tais. We rented a cabana on the 9th with hopes of slide opening but it didnt open til that night after we were told a few more weeks. We had a few rain but we still enjoyed it. would definitely do it again.

Enjoyed the character breakfast at Ohanas my son loves stitch.

We had 1rainy day but had beautiful weather. Parks were crowded but we got to MK/ Epcot at rope drop a couple days so didn't wait too long.

Monorail was down daily 1130-6 had no problem taking boat or bus. I miss lying in my bed staring at that castle.

A great trip to start my new beginning!!!
Upgraded to an AP, heading to dolphin for single ladies take on F&W in oct., then planning another trip with kids next Feb.
Once I can figure out how to post pics fom my iPad I will.

I have been obsessively combing the internet again, looking for Fireworks and EWP details.

Is the music from the MK fireworks shows piped in to all Poly beaches, or just the main one? I'm hoping to watch from the beach beside the Fiji longhouse.

Also, I can't tell the path of the EWP - has anyone been able to see it from the Fiji Beach? From the pictures I've seen, it looks like it might be blocked from view by Tuvalu, but I'm a total Poly Newbie, so I can't tell by looking at the maps what the view is like from there.

Thanks so much, Poly-Lovers!

We stayed at Poly for our first time. We had a great room right next to the GH and on the third floor. We all loved the balcony. The room was right across from the elevator. We really appreciated that for trips to refill our mug and also when we came back from the parks at night!

The monorail did not end up being as big of deal as we anticipated. We were at the parks long before 11:30 except for our first day as we did not arrive until noon. We did ride the boat one or two times. It was nice. The volcano slide was down but we enjoyed the pool anyhow.

We had decent room service. The maid left a towel animal the first day but not after. We leave our room clean so there was not much for them to do but we dont really care about towel animals anyways. We always got fresh towels and extra shampoos and had enough TP and cups. So were were happy. Overall we really really like the POLY and cannot wait to go on our next trip.

The bounceback offer was 35% off.

Yeah we were hooked by the poly before we got upgraded to it. But sadly I may still miss the POR.

Yes I agree about the mousekeeping, we never got a single towel animal, except the ones at check in. We had to request items like soap, towels, coffee, etc. But front desk CMs, were excellent, they got me a microwave 10 mins after check in. Ohana was the best as I am a very big Stitch fan myself. Yeah I had reported the monorail was down, and funny thing is that it happened to us on the days we needed it most. lol.

Sounds like you don't allow little things get you down!! To post pics from your iPad you need a photobucket or other photo hosting site and upload them there. Then you copy the img string. I help you if you want. Just IM me.. Too long and drawn out to post here.

My "new iPad" is currently traveling through time!! Sooo funny. Today is Mar 14th but it left China on Mar 15th at 6am and will be in the states on Mar 15 at 5am. I have the iPad 2 can't wait for the "new IPad" to arrive!
