I've stayed at both Poly and BC. While BC was lovely, I actually prefer the Poly (but would stay at BC again!). The food is better at the Poly and the quick food isn't in the middle of the gift shop - so that's nice! The pool bar is MUCH quicker at the Poly but you can't get hot food at the Poly pool bar so that's probably why. Although the quick service, Capn Cooks, is steps away from the main pool and you can bring your food to the pool area.

Ah, the pool....SAB is large. I didn't like that! I want to be able to keep an eye on my kids so it was very nerve racking to be at SAB - I couldn't relax! I can at the Poly pool. Now when my kids are teens and I don't have to stare at them as they swim, I think we'll try BC again :thumbsup2 As for crowds, I have found both of them to be equally crowded at peak times. The problem I had with SAB is that you can't just keep your eye on all the chairs and pick one but you have to be in a section. Where at the Poly, you can see all the chairs and grab one as someone leaves. The Poly pool is different - it is more tropical and the view of Cindy's castle and GF and Conteporary is AWESOME!

BC is nice to walk to Epcot but Poly beats transportation with the monorail to both MK and EP. And when you are coming back from the parks, you can pick the first bus between Poly and TTC so you have more bus options at the non-monorail parks.

I could have written this almost word for word but changing BC to YC! We had a nice stay at YC a few years ago but it isn't for us. The lack of a real QS, the stressful SAB, and the not-so-convenient transportation to MK were the main factors. SAB has some very nice features....the sand bottom, the little waterfalls, the "whirlpool" area....BUT as you said, you cannot see the kids from any one spot. It is so spread out with bridges and turns and little buildings blocking your vision. The fact that you have to cross the public sidewalk to access the slide is just poor planning :sad2: Most people on these boards complain that the Poly pool is too crowded and they cannot find a chair. We have NEVER had that problem. We always get one of our favorite tables--near the bar:goodvibes--and I see other tables and loungers open too. I will say though that we have never been in the summer which could affect pool overcrowding. At SAB, we had to move other peoples' "saving chair towels" just so that we could have one lounger to keep all our crap off the wet pavement. I love how the Poly pool and beach is set up. It is nice and open so that you can easily see from one to the other in case the girls want to split up. DH and I can see one another in case we need to signal the other. Usually me summoning him for another Pina Colava:love:

Thanks Carl! Is that first one from ground level? I think I want to request room 1512 which is ground floor.

Special warning!!! The first floor was awesome. But we had on several occasions to run off rude people actually sitting on our chairs on our first floor balcony! Not to sound mean, but we paid for that balcony!!

Whoa! How rude!

I agree with you also, but my kids love the pool at BC. My kids are 7 and 9 and are great swimmers, but having to look for them all the time is a drag. Like you said the layout of the pool is very confusing and difficult to get around. I figure the people that love it must have kids that stick to them like glue. My boys are all over the place. I can't begin to keep up. That being said will be back there the last 4 nights or our trip. I couldn't deny them their favorite resort. I have never had a problem getting a chair at Poly, but we have only stayed at the Poly in the month of May.

SERIOUSLY? WOW! Yea I won't be putting up with that! Maybe I will stick with the 3rd floor then! Thanks for the advice! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the great replies on Poly pool vs. Sab pool. I just watched a few you tube videos on the poly pool and in my eyes, it doesn't compare to SAB. BUT my DD is 13 and we always hang out together and swim but I could see if she was small, SAB is difficult for sure. I was trying like crazy to add a night onto my poly trip but I think I will add another day onto the YC/BC end of it for a pool day! :) So anxious to try the poly in june though!!! So pretty!

I've been lurking on this thread for a while in preparation for our first Poly stay in the Fall. After reading about it here, I put in a request for a balcony room in Fiji, because I love the location close to the GCH and the idea of getting a nice view in a garden room category room.

I was hoping one of the Poly experts here can tell me if they think the view from the beach side of Fiji will be negatively effected by the construction at the Grand Floridian. I thought about requesting the Marina side, but I didn't want to make my request hard to fill by being too specific.

We'll be there in November. Thanks in advance!

My husband and I have stayed at the Poly the past 2 years and both times we had a room in Fiji and it was facing the marina. The first time we stayed there when we made the reservation, we requsted a room close to the GCH. We were pleased with the Fiji building and the location was perfect so the 2nd time we stayed there when we made the reservation we requested the Fiji building and ended up getting the room right below the room we stayed in the year before!

It was strange to see people sitting there when we got back. And another time we opened our curtain and there they were! Wishes attracts people from all over Disney so I really don't think they were guest of the Poly!

The view on the beach side is lovely!! You have luau cove and a beach. There is a lot of foliage between you and the construction. The only thing I would worry about is noise from the dinner show and the people congregating to gain access to the show

Thanks so much for the quick responses! I'm so very excited about the location, and I don't think we'll mind the show noise and foot traffic - My DH and I kind of prefer being "close to the action" rather than feeling "secluded." It sounds like we would be happy with either side, and I'm glad to hear that construction won't be a big issue. I'm hopeful we'll get Fiji, although I don't often read about people disliking their Longhouse - it seems they all have their benefits!

Thanks again!

Looking at booking Poly CL for trip in May for trip with DH, DD4, my mom, my dad and aunt. Mom and aunt have mobility issues and will need scooters for parks but can get around hotel without them. DH and I have stayed at Poly before and loved it but not CL. I want to go CL this time so my parents have snack and drink options near room. Also, another place to hang out if they decide not to go to parks with us.

Are there any room request anyone could make based upon this scenario? I'm thinking ground floor.

Actually in the Hawaii building it doesn't matter! My parents both use scooters and we were on the 3rd floor in december! The elevator is large enough for two scooters and they can just park the scooters outside the room and plug them in!
