Just returned from a week at Poly and wanted to thank everyone here for all the great info!
Welcome home! Very glad Hawaii was AMAZING :lovestruc

Excellent!! I love Stacey and all but when we are in the room there's only so many times we can watch "The Must-Do's". :thumbsup2
I LOVE Stacy!!!! And the toons! And the CL at AKL was where we were first hooked on P&F...however, it will be great to have some more channels. My DH is SO happy. Between Stacy and the resort channel....:confused3
Dear Poly,
It has been 3 weeks since I last stepped foot in your doorway. You have no idea how much I miss you and how much I enjoyed my stay in Tahiti room 3024 with the beautiful TPV....:sad1: just saying :sad1:

so happy and thankful to be at the Poly in a little over a week ~ so needing a break!! Cannot wait to sit on the beach at my fave place in the world ~ thanks for all the great help on this board:)

With the construction at the Grand Floridian Villas, can you still walk from the Poly to the GF now?

Just returned from a week at Poly and wanted to thank everyone here for all the great info!

We were in Hawaii, with a great view of the theme park and a walkout patio to the beach. I had requested 3rd floor because DH is an amateur photographer (thought it would be better for fireworks/parade photos) but was surprisingly pleased with ground level & would always request it moving forward. The room was great with plenty of storage and ample bathroom counter space. My only complaint is that the light in the bathrooms is pretty weak (are you with me ladies???) - and if that's all I've got to kvetch about, I've got no problems, right?

Having typically stayed in 1 bedroom villas in recent years, we were worried about feeling cramped, but the lounge was a great place to stretch out & relax for a break without being confined to our room. We've stayed at a number of other deluxes and done concierge previously so, in comparison, we found the Poly & the lounge to be top notch. The staff was very personable, the a.m. offerings were typical & just fine (although the bagels always seemed to be a bit stale), and the cocktail hour offerings were amazing - we only made it on two days of our stay and were impressed by the spread on both nights. We even got one of the recipes from our gracious chef/host. The reports of there not being enough or nothing being replenished were completely false in our experience; there was an abundance (even after a few of the guests loaded up enough plates to feed 10 people and scurried off to their rooms with them) and when a tray emptied, it was quickly refilled. And, the view is simply the really rewarding icing on the cake - wow, what a way to start and end your day! This cannot compare to other lounges!

So, thank you for converting us. It was disappointing that the volcano pool slide never attained an operational status during our stay though, despite notices it would be ready on 3/4, so I guess we'll just need to give Poly another whirl next time so DS4 can ride the lava!

Also, for anyone going soon & wondering about the monorail service, the midday hiatus is really no problem. They are running plenty of boats to/from MK and we only waited a few minutes both times we used them.

:thumbsup2 Thank you for the wonderful update! Makes me even more excited for my stay here in Oct.....although your post is the second review I've read about the stale bagels in the CL lounge :sad2: I love a bagel in the AM / as do my boys....but yuck, stale bagels do not an appetite make! I hope this gets straightened out!

We love the Polynesian and will be heading there for a few days prior to our cruise. I love how I can pop back to the Resort thread and always get my Poly fix. All of your pictures bring back great memories of past stays. Thanks for keeping the dream alive! :hippie:

Ill try not to hog the machine! :thumbsup2

TARA FROM PA
Your trip sounds lovely! I am going to Poly in June for first time and am doing the POLY and BC CL on split stay. I am a die hard BC/YC lover and am nervous for my Poly gig! Silly huh? could you equate the two pools for me - volcano vs. sab in terms of crowds etc? I got a PIN for 35% off Poly so I am trying it for the first time. Also, I am outside of Pgh, PA - saw you were from PA too..thanks Melissa

I've stayed at both Poly and BC. While BC was lovely, I actually prefer the Poly (but would stay at BC again!). The food is better at the Poly and the quick food isn't in the middle of the gift shop - so that's nice! The pool bar is MUCH quicker at the Poly but you can't get hot food at the Poly pool bar so that's probably why. Although the quick service, Capn Cooks, is steps away from the main pool and you can bring your food to the pool area.

Ah, the pool....SAB is large. I didn't like that! I want to be able to keep an eye on my kids so it was very nerve racking to be at SAB - I couldn't relax! I can at the Poly pool. Now when my kids are teens and I don't have to stare at them as they swim, I think we'll try BC again :thumbsup2 As for crowds, I have found both of them to be equally crowded at peak times. The problem I had with SAB is that you can't just keep your eye on all the chairs and pick one but you have to be in a section. Where at the Poly, you can see all the chairs and grab one as someone leaves. The Poly pool is different - it is more tropical and the view of Cindy's castle and GF and Conteporary is AWESOME!

BC is nice to walk to Epcot but Poly beats transportation with the monorail to both MK and EP. And when you are coming back from the parks, you can pick the first bus between Poly and TTC so you have more bus options at the non-monorail parks.

As a former Chief Engineer of a large resort, this is how this works. We would buy 300 of any simi soft good product and store them. (we got a deal) then as needed we replaced them. Since it does not change the theme or overall decor this was successful and economical. By the time they were gone we had at least 200 rooms replaced. Much cheaper than sending one or two of my guys to replace them all at once. you would be surprised how many stupid things walk out the rooms. Remote, batteries to the remote, sheets, pillows, alarm clock, coffee pot, and the number one theft item...... Room 420 sign! (Some of you know)

:lmao: I actually worked at a Marriott for a long time but never had an issue with that room number (surprising since it was in Boulder Colorado ;) )

I've only stayed in Tokelau but I've never had low light in the bathrooms there (I've stayed in 4 of them). I wonder if Hawaii is different??

I didn't know you could YouTube Stacey!!!!! I know what I'm going to do...
