ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Winter 2011 Edition

I too suffer from PPD... The only thing that helps me is booking another trip! LOL

Mine started the moment I finished packing to leave the Poly.. I actually started crying..lol Which suprised me b/c in past trips I was always so exhausted I didnt mind but my Poly trip was different! My poor DH left his cell charger b/c he was so worried about comforting me and getting me out our room.. Plus it was a bit embarressing, we were staying in CL and they sent someone to help us get our stuff to the car and he was waiting on me while Im standing there crying..LOL

I would also stay anywhere else if it was the only way to return to WDW, in fact we have a 1 day trip in Nov planned for the christmas party as a suprise for DD bday and unless I get a room only code I will be staying in a DTD hotel..

I'm right there with ya! For us we wont be back until next year - 3 trips last year got quite spendy :rolleyes1 - but I keep hoping for a amazing deal to coincide with time off so we can just go spur of the moment. So until we set in stone our dates for 2012 I price out phantom vacations to keep the spirits up.

I love the monorail voice track. Last fall we stayed at Pop for our arrival night and then transferred to the Poly. We bussed it to Epcot and then rode the monorail. What a fantastic feeling to hear those wonderful words "ladies and gentlemen we are now stopping at Disney's Polynesian Resort." :cloud9:

On an exciting note here, the fedex truck just rolled up with our MNSSHP tickets. Only 169 days until we are back at WDW to use them! :rolleyes1 Sorry, but it's the small victories that help make the wait more bearable!

Hey I have a question to ask my Poly peeps.. I cant get an answer anywhere else..lol

We are suprising DD for her bday with a one day trip in Nov specifically for MVMCP.

Im waiting for a military discount to be announced for MVMCP. My understanding is you cant buy them online or over the phone.

How risky would it be to drive all the way to WDW w/o tickets in hand hoping to buy them upon arrival? DO early Nov dates sell out fast?

I wouldn't think that any Christmas parties would be sold out in early November. We went the first week of December last year and the party was not sold out. A week night would be less of a risk because fewer locals are likely to be there as opposed to a weekend. Did you try asking on the Theme Parks forum? There are usually a few threads in there going on wrt the parties. :santa:

Does anyone know if here is a "dress code" at Le Cellier now that it is a signature restaurant for dinner and requires 2 DP credits? :confused3 Gotta make sure DDs BFs have nice enough clothes to wear if there is. I guess I can always call LeCellier directly to check for sure.

You should be fine unless you are going the week of Thanksgiving. Other than that they typically don't sell out in November. Of course... you would still be taking a chance but I would say you have a 75% chance of getting tix! :thumbsup2

LOL... There is but it isn't any different than any of the other signature park restaurants. You should be fine unless you plan on wearing a bathing suit in the park or tank tops. Just your normal park wear that doesn't show belly or shoulders should be fine! :thumbsup2

We are leaving Poly on May 8. :sad2: But, we are embarking the Dream that afternoon. :yay: I hope it will help relieve, or at least decrease, PPD. :rolleyes1 I will report as soon as we know. ;)

Ok Poly'ers.... here's a question!

Has anyone upgraded their room when they got there? I tried to upgrade over the phone but they said there was no theme park room available for my discount. We are staying GV CL and I would like to get a Lagoon view or a theme park view. Has anyone had success? TIA! :goodvibes

Its possible they may not have any at your discount rate but might have rooms available. They block off a certain amount of rooms for certain discount packages and then leave the rest open for rack rate. Did you ask if some were available in general, ie non discounted? The other possibility is a room may not have been open for your full length of stay at the discounted (or even rack) rate, but might have been available one or two nights. If you would be willing to switch rooms it's another possibility to inquire about.

No I didn't ask if there were any available in general (rack rate). I am completely ok with staying GV CL but would LOVE to see the Castle from my room. If it is not available I am not going to be heartbroken, I will just enjoy the lounge a little more! :goodvibes But... if it were possible... I would definitely take advantage! :cloud9:

I don't know if I would want to switch rooms but who knows how I will feel when I get there. Since we are staying a week I may get settled into wherever we end up. :tink:

two weeks!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm having trouble sleeping already and can feel my heart pounding! What will I be like when I am walking through the turnstiles into MK and actually SEE the castle again?!?!

Only two days until your cruise:goodvibes. Would you have preferred to have stayed longer at the Poly or was this just the right amount of time? Is your DD excited about her first-ever cruise?

You should also keep trying. There might be a cancellation that would allow you to upgrade.

As for me - one more day!!!!!! I slept so poorly last night. I just can't wait. Glad that I have a bunch of things to do today or I would be constantly jumping out of my skin. Any last minute requests????

On a previous trip, we had booked a non CL room with a discount and really wanted CL.When we checked in, we asked about paying for an upgrade to CL. They had room availability, but not with the discount that we had. We could have done it but paying rack rate! I currentl have a GVCL booked with a pin for our upcoming trip and wanted to arrive two days earlier than I originally planned. I have called several times and they had nothing available. Then, they had one night earlier available... so I took that. Now I am still trying to add one more night with the discount, but it is still unavailable. I had some success and will keep calling periodically to check. Good Luck!!!:thumbsup2
