bumping my own post, can anyone help with any info?, tia.

There is a list of organized activities in post 2 of this FAQ as well as some other things you can do on your own like boat rentals. The listed activities vary from time to time but you'll get a current list when you check in.

If you want to be limit walking, I would consider Raratonga. It is the closest of all the longhouses to the GCH. Niue is nearly as close but you would need to use the elevator in Raratonga. Speaking of elevators, they are very small in the original buildings other than in Hawaii. Have you considered first floor as a request? Less walking as well in most cases.

Tonga Toast is great at Captain Cook's. I've ordered the turkey sandwich on multigrain from room service and imagine it is the same at CC....very good.

Happy planning! :goodvibes

Todd, you're welcome...happy planning to you as well. :surfweb:

I requested (via fax) to be placed in Tokelau, 2nd or 3rd floor, closer to the lagoon side. I also did online check-in (at that time, you weren't able to make a request when you checked in online - that may have changed though :confused3). And we got our request - Tokelau, 2nd floor, close to the lagoon side.

Hope that's of some help.

Last time I went to Disney we stayed at the CR. (Which we loved!) This time I can't decide to go back to CR or try the Poly for a different experience. We did the Lilo and Stitch breakfast (Which was one of my favorites). Has anyone stayed at both? What things compare or are different that you like/dislike between both resorts. The kids are 8,5. Help me decide?

 I've stayed at both resorts, and my last few stays I've been leaning towards the Poly. The transportation options are better because of the close proximity to the TTC. The grounds are prettier as well-I love walking around the grounds of the Poly in the early a.m. and evening.

We will be there 1month tomorrow, but we will be on the road in less than 1 month.:yay:
plus I want to see my ticker!!!

I just looked at the chart ginnymack posted from the Unofficial Guide on getting to DTD from the Poly. Is it really that long? We are arriving next Thursday around noon (*gulp!* better start packing!) and thinking of heading to DTD for the afternoon before our dinner at Chef Mickey's at 6:30. What's the bus situation to DTD like? Do they run at regular intervals from DTD back to the Poly? Is there another way I should get there? Any advice would be welcome!
Thanks!
~Michele

That is helpful, thanks! I didn't realize it would take so long to get to Epcot. We have an 8:10 am ressie at Akershus. We better leave our room before 7:30 am

I have never personally done it but the trip via bus to DTD gets a big thumbs down on this thread. Many people suggest taking a taxi.

Have a wonderful trip and make sure you come back here and give us a full report :wizard:

I would give yourself plenty of time to get to that early of a ressie. You will need to walk to the TTC (or take the resort monorail and transfer to the Epcot Monorail at the TTC). Then you need to walk from the monorail to Norway which in a bit of a walk. I would say at least give yourself an hour just in case... :flower3:

Thank you for that chart, Ginnymack. It will really come in handy.:thumbsup2

Have a wonderful vacation and a safe trip, rmjkharrisfam. Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back.:goodvibes

I don't think it was quite as long to DTD as 54 minutes, but it was close (maybe 45 min). I don't know how regularly the buses run, but others suggest taking a cab and after doing it once I would agree - the bus ride was BORING and LONG (we actually didn't really find it worth the trip for an afternoon of shopping - maybe at night? - but discovered anything you could buy there is pretty much available at the resorts or in the parks).

thank you so much for posting this! i love it! for those of you familiar with the poly, do those walk times seem accurate? they seem realistic to me but i have only been there to visit, not to stay.

mbarone54, Last July we stayed at CR, which shares buses with Poly and GF to DTD (and water parks). It took at least 45 minutes each way. This year we will take a cab. When in WDW time is money--a cab won't be that much but it'll be worth it for the 1 or 2 trips we may take to DTD (and cheaper than a car rental).

We have used the WDW bus system to travel to DTD from the Poly, WL, BC and AKL, and every single trip was horrendously long! And so not worth it! If we ever go to DTD again, it will NOT be on a bus.

I couldn't agree more.

Once Disney closed PI, we have no reason to go to DTD. I think the 54 minutes listed in the chart is fairly spot on give or take 5-10 minutes either way. It has always taken us an hour, sometimes longer, to get to DTD and the return trip equally as long. So not worth the trip out there unless you are a major shopaholic. :confused3

We got to the point, when we were still going, that we would bus out and taxi back. That made the trip somewhat more palatable and we were really only going so we could hit Adventurer's Club and Comedy Warehouse. With those gone--so not worth it to us.

Does it take just as long to get to DTD from the TTC??? I have 2 little girls and 45 minutes on a bus will be horrendous!!! :scared1: I was hoping to go there for a relaxing time to check out the stores and let them see T-Rex and Rainforest Cafe and such.....

There are no buses to DTD from the TTC unfortunately. When we go to DTD, we drive.

Does anyone else think the commute time to Epcot is way too high? It looks like the time might reflect taking the resort monorail all the way around to the TTC and transferring even though the route listed is walking to the TTC.:confused3
