ALOHA! The Poly FAQ~ Spring 2010 Edition

I totally agree with this. We just returned from the Poly CL and honestly, I can't justify the extra $$$ over a GV room.

Oh no! Now I am worried. We are staying GV CL at the end of this month. I thought this would be the best option for us, because we are not big eaters and do not enjoy the DDP. Too many reservations etc. for me. Plus I love my cocktails, so I though CL would best fit our lifestyle.

I know we will have a good time regardless, but am concerned over the negative reviews I have been reading on the boards.

As stated before, you will find negative reviews on every resort. Remember the people are stating their opinion. There are others on here who will tell you CL is worth every penny. We are staying CL TPV in Dec due to the convience of the lounge and the different offerings during the day. I like being able to get a Coke when I want one, a snack, etc. Yes, I know I have already paid for it via my room rate each night, but I like not having to reach into my wallet all the time. So you probably need to decide for yourself and stop second guessing yourself or you might just drive yourself crazy.

Where should I request? We are getting two-standard rooms with garden view.

We want to be near the pool and no parking lot view. Oh, and a balcony would be great.

Advice please.

I requested a 3rd floor balcony room, Fiji or Samoa. We'll see! I just don't want to look at a parking lot. Other than that, it doesn't really matter to me.

Hi Katie's mom:wave: I have a Katie as well :). I've stayed Poly CL 3 times, and have another stay booked for next Oct. Whether or not its worth it is up to you to decide-everyone's perception will be different. I have loved every minute of my stays there :)

Thanks for the positive feedback! I am super excited and know we will have a good time. :woohoo:

I hope you and your Katie have a great time in October. DH and I went in October ’99 for our honeymoon. It was a wonderful time to be there with great weather and no crowds. :thumbsup2

You are correct that there are negative reviews on every resort. I am happy to report that I have had very positive experiences and anticipate having another wonderful experience.

Great point regarding those additional charges that we will not incur being on CL. All of those little receipts drive me crazy and not having them will be another plus. :yay:

i would request either samoa or tokelau samoa is right between the main pool nd quiet pool and tokelau is right next to the quiet pool and is in a great location wen i stayed in 2008 i got a room in aotearoa with a view of the trees and flowers and the monorail it was a nice view not much rooms offr a parking lot view but i am with you i dont like getting views of the parking lot hope i helped

Monorail to Contemporary and then the boat to WL, I believe

Really - you can get a boat from the Contemporary to WL? I thought we would have to go to MK and get the boat or bus from there.

Monorail to Contemporary, then boat to WL sounds like it would be faster.

I don't remember this being an option when we were there (unless we just weren't aware of it :confused3) When we went to WL we took the launch to MK (could have also taken the monorail) and then the boat to WL from the MK.

I think we've stayed club level at the Polynesian 6-8 times. We've loved every single visit. It is a nice way to pamper your family. I just don't think it's the only way to enjoy the Polynesian. :goodvibes

I'm not sure which is faster...probably depends on timing. Belle72 is right that you can take the monorail to the CR and then a boat to WL.

If you have a car, driving will be fastest and most convenient....less than 5 minutes.

To Belle72, BCV23, Capt Barbosa and CR Resort Fan 4 Life - thanks for the info on getting to WL - we have a dinner ressie at Artist's Point (date night) - will propably try the Contemporary route.

To Maiapapaya - we are from Southwestern Ontario too - near Sarnia.

Toddd, my inlaws live in Sarnia - we're about two hours north! :wave2:

thats exciting that there are ppl on here from southwestern ontario!! I'm from Guelph!!

We're from Kincardine (on Lake Huron), so we're about 2 hours from you too!
Funny how us people from southern ON seem to seek out the tropical atmosphere of the Poly. Wouldn't have anything to do with our winters ...

Can anyone comment about the resort activities. Its only going to be dh and I May 18-23. We stayed there 2 years ago.If our 2 ds didnt have finals I am sure they would be tagging along too.

And for those that have done online check in, did you get what bldg. you requested if you made a request etc.

I have asked for Samoa, 3rd floor view, last time I asked for that too and we were upgrraded to club level. What a surpirse! I just really want that bldg, due to the proximity to everything and my recovering from cancer etc, I just dont have alot of energy to do alot of walking etc. I also asked for a wheelchair because last time they had to get me one from the GF.

Also what is good at captain cooks? TIA

bumping my own post, can anyone help with any info?, tia.

You're welcome and if you do go through the Contemporary remember that their boat to the Wilderness Lodge operates from 6:45 AM - 11:30 PM.
