GREAT!!! I wonder how far out the codes are good for? I want to go back in December 2011!!!

We arrived at Poly on 12/23 around 5:00 pm. It was later than I wanted, but I was grateful that there were no crowds or wait. We were traveling with my in-laws and had requested rooms in the same building, but not together. In addition, we requested to be in Tokelau or Fiji. Well, we got Fiji and the in-laws got the other side of the resort. They are in their 70s and haven't been to Disney in 35 years, so they wanted to be near us. The front desk staff was great and moved them to Fiji. We had room 1310, which is the last room on the luau cove side of the first floor. The in-laws were on the same side, but down the hall.

The rooms were very clean, but they was some wear. We seemed to be missing a picture in between the beds since there was a paster patch a little above eye level. It was odd that the in-laws had the exact same patch. The alarm clock/iPod dock had a mind of its own and we had to unplug it. None of these these hampered our trip.

The view from our room was ok. We could see the beach, which was very nice, but the grass had tire tracks through it which made it a muddy mess. Since it was freezing during our trip, this didn't really effect us. Sidenote - we have never been in a pool at Poly! Each time we go it freezes!

We found Captain Cooks really easy for breakfast. We never had trouble finding a table and the food was always good enough to start the day. We also ate at the Kona Cafe for dinner once. The bread and butter were amazing! The food was average - not bad/not outstanding. I did the 3-course menu and it was all good, except for the pineapple upside down cake. It was so dry! I really didn't need to eat it, so I didn't complain.

Overall, the Poly is great resort and we would stay there again. There is one issue that I think they have to address - wifi! When paying to stay at a deluxe resort, whether it be at Disney or not, I expect wifi service somewhere. Both the Contemporary and the Grand Floridan have it! I also think that internet connection in general should be for free at deluxe resorts, but that another story.

Finally because of the blizzard in NYC, we had to extend our trip a day. The front desk was very helpful again. What a friendly and efficient group of people! We were able to stay in our original rooms at our original price, which was significantly lower than the rack rate. That's it for this stay at Poly! I'm happy to answer any questions. Until next time....

Dale

You should be OK. I *think* the rooms at Poly max out at 5 + a child under 2yrs. I would suggest requesting a room in one of the newer longhouses as they have bigger rooms to allow for a crib or pnp without crowding. Have fun:goodvibes

Thank you! I will make sure to request one of the newer longhouses!

Does the Poly have wi-fi in the check-in area like the Yacht Club does? Hmmm, why is the bottom of my ticker cut off? I am excited for our May Poly stay, but the ticker seems to be cut off on the bottom. Is my signature too long?

The website automatically cuts off the portion of your signature that exceeds the site's rules for them. I would guess that your ticker is cut off for that reason. Play with making the font size smaller on the written part of your signature. :confused3 Hope you can get it to fit in total!

So after upgrading to club this past week I sub'd the club/concierge thread just in case there were other little pieces of information. Wow - there are a lot of negative comments about the Poly on there... I don't like to read that! (especially since Poly only had a 25% code and the other deluxes had 30%)

How do you know if you have a PIN code? Do they tell you when you call or is there someplace you see it when you look online?

Pins are emailed to you. The discounts and times of year you can book for your particular pin code vary. I guess it's just sort of random the way they decide to give them out??

Recently a lot of people have called and found out they had codes without having received an email. If you're registered with disneyworld.com you could have one (and not know it). You can always call the reservation line and ask the CM if you have any discount codes attached to your name. Good luck!

Can anyone tell me about the leis at check-in? We will be visiting the poly for the first time this April and it sounds like my girls would love them! Can we respectfully ask for them if they are not offered at check in? Thanks for all the expert info!

Thanks Tess. I will play around with it and see if I can fix it.

We got ours from the CM when we checked in at the front desk as well as other times during our stay. There was usually someone in the lobby with a bunch slung over their arm for anyone who wanted one. We also got them when we checked in for the Spirit of Aloha dinner show. This was in 2008.

We have asked for leis at the front desk when we weren't staying there, so yes anyone can ask for them.

We were in club level, so didn't go to the main check-in desk, but we didn't get leis at all during our stay, except at 'Ohana breakfast before the photo. The kids didn't even get leis at the lei-making demonstration which I, frankly, thought was a little odd. Though the whole "demo" was pretty half-hearted, so I guess I wasn't really surprised. Lilo and Stitch coloring pages were handed out.
