All Aboard Presidents Week Mexican Riviera February 19, 2012 Wonder

We booked Las Caletas in PV. We normally wouldn't have spent that much money but just about everyone raves about it so we thought we would give it a try.

We didn't book anything for Cabo.

Misako, I saw your post on the main board. Which day is your son's 4th b-day? I'll make sure we deliver a special birthday FE that day. :bday:

We booked paradice beach on PV day hoping we can have some relax in the beach and kids still have a lot of fun. I also read pretty good review for it. Harbor cruise and scenic stop on first cabo day. Since We have some age gap between our DD and DS. It was little hard to decide which one will be the best fit. :yay:

His Birthday is 2/22. He is turning 4th. We are still wondering which cake to order since we can not find any picture of it. Thank you for asking. He will be thrilled.

Ummm.... Las Catelas... Sounds really good. since LKFan mention it.. I looked again the detail... Age 4 and older can enjoy kids activity. My DS turn 4 that day. We might think again before sold out..... Las Carelas VS Paradice Beach ?? any pro and con?

My son turned 7 a couple of years ago on the day that we boarded the ship. While the kids were with my husband, upstairs playing in the pools, I snuck down as soon as the rooms opened and hung up a Happy Birthday banner that I had brought with me. I also blew up a bunch of balloons and put them all over the room. I have since found out that balloons aren't allowed. Oops! The stateroom host didn't say anything to us. :confused3

I immediately called room service and ordered the "cake of the day" (which was a slice of chocolate cake) and milk. I put plastic decorations on it and placed it on the table with his wrapped present for when my family came down to the room. To this day, he still thinks that Disney decorated the room.

That night, at dinner, they brought my son the strawberry b-day cake that used to be routine.

Last year, we sailed over my husband's birthday and they also brought cake at dinner. I think they have changed it from strawberry to chocolate but it didn't matter. Give your server the heads up a day or two in advance and they will decorate any desert that you son orders that night.

81 days!!

We have Palo brunch booked for the last sea day and some spa time for the other sea days. I haven't booked any excursions, I think we're going to do them on our own this time around.

Yesterday I finished booking our airfare - got a great rate from Cyber Monday so I am happy!! We are flying in Thursday night and taking the red eye home Sunday night. Still have to book a hotel. Haven't decided where we are staying yet - looking at a couple of options. Is anyone else coming in early? Where are you staying?

We are staying Double tree San Pedro on Saturday night....

Is there a lot of activity happen on the ship while they are in the port?

76 days....

Do we have any first time cruisers in our group who are going to book Palo and excursions tomorrow? :beach:

Yes, but not til the 6th. We're not going after much - just one excursion in PV, I think. Does anyone know if there's anything special we need to do if we have linked reservations and we want to both book the excursion? I think we linked ours w/my BIL's (hard to tell, since the Disney site is so bad, though!:confused:), but I have no idea what it will show us when we go in to do the excursion.

How did you do? Did you get what you wanted?

Any of you runners? I am supposed to be running a marathon 3 weeks after the cruise so I will need to run while on the cruise. Wanted to see if anyone else will be running around deck 3 (I think it's deck 3 you can run around) or on the treadmills. Not the best timing on my part but it is what it is. I'm shooting for 3-4 runs we shall see if that actually happens.

Yes, we did - the Pirate Cruise in PV. Since my BIL is in Seattle, he booked it at 9PM rather than us staying up til midnight.:woohoo: Between us we have 5 boys - three of them 6 or under, so hopefully it will be fun for them.

My DH likes to run but not sure what he is planning for the cruise. Sometimes he's good and runs everyday on vacation and sometimes he doesn't want to do anything! If he does, it will be probably be out on deck 4 and early before the rest of us are up.

We'll be on that, too - my friend did it last year and loved it.

We are getting in late on Thursday night so are looking for a hotel close to LAX that will fit 6. I am looking at the Embassy Suites LAX North hotel at 9801 Airport Boulevard. Does anyone know what kind of area this is? I have read that there are certain areas around LAX that have frequent gang activity after dark so I am leery to just book it. It looks like it right across the street from some of the car rental agencies.

So which race are you doing?

Haven't been running since I've run into problems with plantar fasciitis. I did train for a half marathon while on a cruise a couple years ago. Had to pull off a 10 mile run on the treadmill- it was an Alaskan cruise so running outdoors on deck was NOT an option. The ship was rocking big time, so I had to use handrails quite a bit of the time.

Let me know if you're looking for any pre/ post cruise running areas in San Pedro or the surrounding area.

It's off of Century which is the main artery into LAX. Just a bunch of big hotels on that street, so it should be safe. The downside is that there isn't much to see or do there.

Have you looked at El Segundo or Manhattan Beach? A bit further down south are Torrance, Redondo, and Hermosa Beach. All are safer residential areas.
