Alex & Tim's PJ: SBP/Sago Cay/YSH 12/09/09: UPDATED-Hair is done!

We sent our deposit to Kevin Knox last week. I love the tone of his emails and he has a great sense of humour which is similar to ours.

I've written our vows and a reading I want to do at the wedding, and a toast too. I've had great fun researching and writing them and I'm sure I'll tweak them but I'm really pleased with them :goodvibes

Firstly congratulations on your wedding, and welcome! If you need any help let me know, by the way I love the dress.
P.S I got so excited when I saw you were from Birmingham, I used to live in Lichfield when I was little!

Hey, small world huh?! Glad you like the dress, it was love at first site :lovestruc :lovestruc

I wish I could pack Randy up in my Suitcase and take him on the cruise for my wedding! His pictures are AMAZING!

My bag arrived today:

and it is absolutely stunning! I've never seen one like this and it is perfect. The satin material is really thick and it is fully lined, and the top is beautiful. I took a chance and got it off ebay from a Singapore seller - it is the only one I have seen that I went 'wow' and it was such a good choice :thumbsup2

Hello Beep!

It's my first time on the boards (i have posted a thread for advice on an Escape package) and i am in the UK too (Essex) so i would really like to chat some more with you, if you wouldnt mind?

My fiance and i are looking at having a disney wedding in 2010 (havent decided on the date yet), are thinking now of having it in May 2010 as then i can have my 30th birthday out in florida too!

We really want to have our ceremony at the wedding pavillion at 2:30pm, ive heard the cake cutting ceremony and pics take place after that at GF and so we would like to hire the upper terrace of the UK in epcot for our evening reception and then also watch the Illuminations fireworks.

We have 15 guests including us, which are all family.

And i also have my heart set on a Maggie Sottero gown! not sure which one yet and cant try anything on until next year (which gives me time to lose some weight as i am also a UK16) but i do have a shortlist so that's something.

Anyway would love to chat some more if you wouldnt mind?

Nicola

Hi Nicola, I've just responded to your thread.

No problem chatting at all - chat away! I'm a bit of a night owl ;)

Your plans sound great, and I'm so envious of the DVC. We used rented points last year for a couple of nights at the Boardwalk and the DVC resorts are really nice. We are hoping to use some more points next year for our wedding week.

What Maggie dresses have you shortlisted? I loved the look of her dresses online but when I went to try one on I just fell in love. They are so well made and look like they should cost twice what they do - even with the extortionate UK prices. Have you read about the customs farce with shipping a dress out to the US?! Ridiculous. We have decided that we will be flying with BA as they allow two pieces of checked luggage and a piece of hand luggage with a weight limit of 21kgs. As long as my dress will fit in the cabin-sized box (and IT WILL FIT) I can take it with me and not run the risk of the airline losing it.

I know what you mean about having time to lose some weight. That's the only thing that I wish wouldn't come around so quickly! The Maggie dresses are fantastic for pulling you in where it's needed though - I think that's why I loved the dress to be honest!

I've got a wealth of information of this site. Everyone is so friendly so if there is anything you need to know just ask. Someone somewhere will know!

Hi Beep,

The Maggie gowns i like the look of so far are: Charlene, Josette, Destin, Porsha Ann and Dynasty. I think out of them Josette is my favourite.

I really love your dress, and have seen pics of brides wearing it on the maggie website and it looks beautiful but being 5ft2 i dont know if that type of skirt would swamp me? I will prob try it on though, when i start he he!

I am really drawn to the cap sleeves on josette and i like the style, dont know what it's technical term is but the way it kind of looks like you have a long jacket on over the gown as it looks very princess like to me (although the way i have described it sounds hideous lol). i am very top heavy too and dont want my baps out (as we say in UK lol) on the day so i want something that will flatter that area.

I have lost 1.5 stone since Aug 07 but ideally would still love to lose about 3 stone... have been the same weight since before xmas 07 now which is really irritating but im taking it slowly anyway.

I had a look at your pics, you look like youve lost heaps of weight so congrats on that!

With regards to taking the dress on the plane (great advice btw). a friend of mine told me that she packed her's in one of those vacuum bags, that shrink to practically nothing once youve sucked the air out with a hoover and so she had no probs taking her dress and the bridesmaids dresses with her on the plane... she arranged to have the dresses steamed when she got to her venue and they were as good as new! i thought that might be quite a good idea?

Have you booked your wedding yet?

Baps out - that made me laugh! I thought that was a Brummie saying!

The Dynasty and Josette are gorgeous - I love all the detailing on them. My bridal shop said that they could add sleeves to almost any dress so that might give you more scope. I love the jacket effect on Josette, it is really nice.

I'm 5'7" and most of that is leg. I've got a 34" inside leg so can carry a skirt like the one on the Capri Royale but looked strange in anything that had sleeves or a higher neckline. This one fitting just under my armpit balances well. I'm having a really big crinoline to go with it and it looks really good. It made me look and feel about a size 10 so I had to have it!

Well done on the weight loss, that is fantastic :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 It's hard going isn't it? I lost my weight by doing low carb and have been (sort of) sticking to it ever since. I was a UK22 and saw that picture of me in India and thought "That's enough." I used to do martial arts 6 times a week and co-ran a school with the other instructor who was my husband. We split up and I had to leave the club and therefore did no exercise. It went downhill from there.

I'm about 10lbs heavier than when we went to Florida last year and I can really feel it in my clothes. Keep at it and it will come off. I found if I had reach a plateau with my weight that eating the exact opposite of what I should have been for a day gave it a kick-start. I think it shocks your body back into action and gets the metabolism working again.

I'm getting a box from The Empty Box Company to transport the dress as it is waterproof and ph-neutral and fits in the cabin of the plane. I've got a vacuum bag which is about the same size but someone warned me to be very careful when getting the air out as it can damamge the bones. I'm going to use it to get some of the air out and then seal it so keep it like that and I should be ok.

We haven't booked our wedding yet. We can't book it until 12 months out so it won't be until later this year. It is really frustrating!

beautiful bag... great choice!

i know tell me about it!... apparently the WP cant be booked until 8 months prior but ive heard that it's as ridiculous as 6 months prior and that the date and time you pick is not actually confirmed until 6 weeks prior!!!

my colleagues niece who got married at WP in dec 07 has said this, which is really giving my fiance earache and headache lol cos i cant stop stressing at the thought of it! apparently she didnt get her original date, she got the day after the day she wanted but she said they will try to accomodate you and obviously make sure they can find you a slot for the timeframe that you're going to be in florida! honestly my blood pressure is rising just typing this out lol.

im really hoping that is not true or not the main and that they just had a situation to deal with, with regards to her date.

glad im not the only one who is impatient and frustrated by this process lol

so have you booked your photographer and officiant before the wedding?

I found out that if the venue is at a place that they use for conventions, like the GF, it can't be booked until 8 months out but other venues like Sea Breeze Point can be booked at 12 months out. I thought that once the contract was signed that it was locked in. Maybe if they have a convention booked after that they change the date. Sounds like it was a nightmare for that poor girl!

We booked Randy and Kevin to make sure we got them for the date we are hoping for. Disney said it shouldn't be a problem to get the date we wanted as December isn't a popular time for weddings (but they probably say that to everyone lol) and we would go for a different time on the day if we had to. We could also go for the day before but would have to hope that Randy and Kevin were free.

I'm really glad that we can book with Disney 12 months out but until then we are at the mercy of the mouse! Our other choices are Randall Miller and Misty Miotto so hopefully someone will be free

We will be booking our accommodation with Disney as soon as we can (you can book upto 499 days ahead) for the honeymoon and then as soon as we can confirm the date with them for the wedding we can book the DVC points for the wedding week in January next year. Someone is holding the points for us which is brilliant, we just need to let her know the dates and as the Boardwalk is her home resort she can book straight away for us.

Like I said, at the mercy of the mouse. Everything else is set up and ready to go.
