Alex & Tim's PJ: SBP/Sago Cay/YSH 12/09/09: UPDATED-Hair is done!

Hi Raspberry - my sister-in-law is from Redditch!

I've lived in Birmingham since I was about 11 (we lived in central Spain up until then) and my folks used to live in Evesham. They retired to Cornwall a couple of years ago so we get nice free holidays down there now :thumbsup2

To be honest I don't think I would have thought to haggle but when they started I thought why not? I love haggling, it's one of the best things about going to India but the shop yesterday wasn't up to the standard they are over there!

Hey there - I can't believe your SIL is from there - no one comes from Redditch these days! I love Evesham - I used to go there and paddle when I was little!

Ha ha about the haggling! I went to London to find my dress but hated it there, and came home and got my dress from a little boutique in Studley, can you believe it?!! They are so attentive and lovely that I felt so at home there :)

What did you try on? What sort of dresses?

We figured out that I don't suit scoopy necked dresses, I tried a halter necked one which was nice but I only just managed to squeeze my butt in so the overall effect wasn't good :lmao:, we also decided I suit the ones that are gathered together to the side at the waist and strapless ones too, and that I don't want a long train as it'd annoy me!
So actually it was still a productive day!

We hunted down some more shops but they were all closed so we're gonna stay local next week, but continue the phone search for the Lynette!

She was from Great Alne which is just outside isn't it? It gave her a bit of a shock when she moved to the bright lights of Birmingham!

I think you get better service from the smaller boutiques. They larger ones tent to treat you as a production line. I got a great one in Shirley and would highly recommend them. I haggled so hard in India that they had to check with each other that it was ok to sell at the price incase they hadn't made enough - seriously! Great fun :rotfl:

I wish I had the same problem as you with the halter neck! My friend Kirsty has told me to get some chick-tape and gel pads but I might just try a pair of socks and some parcel tape...

It's great that you know what suits and what doesn't. I was frightened that I would try the Royale style dress and look appalling as I had my heart set on that style. I would have loved to have tried the Lynette but I couldn't find one anywhere. Good luck on the Lynette hunt!

It is really nice to share my experience and planning with people on here as I don't really have anyone. My Mom is in Cornwall and isn't a Disney-ite at all and my friend Kirsty is going through a bad time with ill friends so I feel a bit bad gabbling on about the wedding.

My Nan died this week and I feel bad yakking to my Mom or anyone else about the wedding in case they think I'm being really insensitive.

Thanks guys :grouphug:

I feel a bit bad about this because it looks like I’ve stolen everything from Meryll83 but we like exactly the same things!

I saw the same picture for the bouquet and am going to ask Disney if they can put some smaller flowers in white. If they can’t I’ll take some silk ones out myself and slot them in.

I’ve also got some white roses, burgundy roses and crystals for my hair. I’m going to have hair extensions that go half way down my back and have them tonged so that they are loose curls. I’m going to have a bit of height on the top for the tiara but have the lot loose and down. I’ve got the hair pins because I don’t think I want a veil and these would look nice in the back and on the top.

I can't find a photo of the style of hair but this is the closest so far. I want the curls a little bit tighter, like loose ringlets. I need some body and curl in it to make sure it covers my back tattoo as the back of the dress covers the majority of it.

I’ve also got some table confetti in burgundy red and clear crystal to put around the cake to tie the colours in. We’ve decided we are going to have a sand ceremony as our vows are native American Indian and it also ties in with my arm tattoo!

I've decided to leave my arm tattoo wild and free as nature intended. I tried a cover-up kit and wasn't very impressed and I don't want to wear sleeves in the dress, or a jacket.

I haven't got a picture of my armband apart from these two which I've put together:

The first one is at the front of my arm and then the band leads round to the second in the middle of my arm and then the last one is at the back. The ones at the front and back are sheilds and the one in the middle is a dream catcher. It actually looked really good with the dress!

I got it done in Orlando years ago and, as it is part of me and a fantastic piece of artwork I'm going to show it. Tats out for the lads!

Are you at it again, you little monkey you?!

It's OK, this bouquet originally belonged to RangerPooh, I think a lot of my things are compilations of everyone elses stuff too!!! :rotfl:

Awww, how sweet is this? My Nan died last week and Mom told me she had left some money which Mom wanted me to have towards the dress. I was really touched. Mom said it would be Nan's way of bieng with me on the day

I bought my shoes, one pair for the day:

And a pair for the night:

These are silver but the lighting makes them look gold - the picture came out with sepia tones for some reason!

We have changed our plans for the wedding. This is what we have now:

1000 - Ceremony at SBP
1300 - Lunch at the GF Cafe
1730 - Dinner at Yachtsmans Steakhouse
After go into Epcot for the fireworks.

We are probably going to have around 12 people maximum and the Yachtsman counts a group as 9 or more so we have to have the first sitting which is fine with us. The GF Cafe counts 13 or more as a group so we can book anytime so it all works out well.

I want to spend as much time in my dress as possible so we probably aren't going to go with Le Cellier at 1900 as we originally planned.

I hope some people who are staying on Disney will be on the Dining Plan!

I found the invitations I want:

I can also get Save the Date, RSVP and thank you cards too!

Tim would send a text or email to people along the lines of "Are you coming or what?" or "What you doing next Wednesday?" Typical male really!!

pretty shoes - I especially love the silvers!

I need a new pair of silver ballroom shoes for dancing (mine are so old and bashed and have been spray painted silver again :lmao:) so my mum has suggested I use the new pair - it might be a good plan coz they seem to be the only high heeled shoes that I'm comfy in!

Your invitations will match everything perfectly as well! :goodvibes

I thought I wold probably wreck the white ones on the beach at the GF so wanted some to wear afterwards, and it was a good excuse to buy more shoes. I got them from Debenhams with 70% off!

The only problem is they are higher than the white ones (but only by about 0.5") so I don't think it will make much difference with the dress.

I saw a fantastic pair of burgundy red ones with a diamante clasp at the front that were perfect but then thought I wouldn't have my bouquet at night so it might look a bit strange having red shoes and nothing else red.

There was a post on here about a company in the US that make Judy Garland red slippers with jewels and sequins and I was so tempted!

haha...I checked those shoes out too. They are pretty awesome aren't they?

They are incredible shoes! I thought the price was pretty good to considering they work in them. I couldn't justify the cost though.

I love these wedding favour boxes:

And rather than the traditional sugard almonds or chocolates I want to fill them with these mini bath bombs:

Aren't they cute?!

I love your PJ.....I can not wait to read more!

Awww, thank you! I;m always worried I'm boring people, but I've got so much information from people on here that if just one thing I put on helps someone else it's worth it :goodvibes

Another $250(ish) went out of the budget today. There is no way my dress will fit in a cabin-sized bag and I'm not going to risk it in the checked luggage so it looks like it is going to have to be shipped ahead.

I had a response from Carolyn Allen about storage and steaming:

The dress is steamable it is $85 for steaming, $20 for the petticoat steaming, $15 for bridal gown storage and delivery and $8 for the petticoat storage and delivery. Be sure to send everything 2 weeks in advance, if you are sending It earlier than 2 weeks there is an additional charge for each month that we are storing the items.

I reckon shipping is going to be around $80 so I'm looking at around $250

Perhaps I won't tell my DBF just yet...

I had a fantastic surprise when I got home today. My jewellery arrived and it is absolutely fantastic, so much better than I thought it would be and it will look so good with the dress. It cost me less than $20 and I have definitely told my DBF about that.

What he doesn't know won't hurt him, just his wallet :thumbsup2

Don't you just hate how quickly it all adds up! :scared1: :scared1:
