Alex & Tim's PJ: SBP/Sago Cay/YSH 12/09/09: UPDATED-Hair is done!

I just found your thread and did I read it correctly? Are you getting married in 2009 and you already have ALL this done? I can't beleive it!! I feel so behind! I am planning on getting married in May '09 and haven't even asked my bridesmaids yet!

Hi, yep it is 2009! I am a compulsive planner and researcher and as soon as we decided on a Disney wedding that was it - all systems go!

It has been great starting all the planning this early as I can keep my eye on things like flight prices altering and working out when we need to have what money for. I hit major problems with what I had planned to do with my dress so it was onto plan B. I wouldn't have found out about the problem until too late otherwise.

It gives me a brilliant excuse to be on Dis for what seems like 24hrs a day too!

Yay, sorted out the wedding ring problem. The problem is I don't want one.

We got engaged in Goa two years ago and had a beautiful ring made. It is 18k gold with .75 carat of princess cut diamonds set in a band. It has a detail at the end of the diamonds which gives it a uniqueness. I never intended to have a separate wedding ring - this is my all in one!

Tim wanted me to have a wedding band to go with the ring I already have but I don't want one. I just want this ring, but I can't get married with it. The problem is it fits perfectly in the UK but my fingers swell up in the US and I can't wear it.

Tim doesn't want to wear a ring as he doesn't feel comfortable with one on, but he needs one to get married with.

I suggested picking up a couple of plastic Mickey head rings from DTD at which he was horrified so I guess that was a no. Wouldn't have looked too good on the photos either.

So, we decided to get gold-plated rings to get married with and I found these for me:

Rings-1.jpg

They are 14k gold plated and cubic zirconia and the wedding band is similar to mine. It is a bit bigger but no-one would know, and I get a snazzy engagement ring to wear around Disney with my 'almost married' pins on. I've gone for a bigger ring size so they should fit in Florida. SORTED!!

I sound like a real cheap-skate don't I?! These two are only $40!!

Helloooooo,

Thought I'd make a reappearance seeing as though I seem to have neglected your PJ lately - I just seem to have been so busy!

The bag you have looks fab, in fact it would go well with the bridesmaid dresses I like - tee hee I promise I won't steal!!
What are we like?!

Speaking of stealing, I think we are now going to join you in the realms of Escape weddings, see my PJ for more info - oooh the suspense!
I might have to seek your advice on reception/meal locations and various other Escape criteria, as I've been looking at Wishes stuff all this time so far....

It's good that you found some rings you like, and it's not being cheap, if they're only really for show on one day then you don't want anything expensive do you?

Whatever ring you want is whats important. Everyone is different in what they think is important. Why waste money on a ring when you'd rather have a longer honeymoon or something.

Exactly! That's a lot, and I mean a lot, of pieces of Key Lime Pie and Cheesecake that I could be wearing around my finger for one day. I absolutely A D O R E Key Lime Pie and Cheesecake. In fact, the Dessert Lady on Orlando does a Key Lime Pie Cheesecake and we didn;t get to go last year. We will be making up for that next time!!

Hi --

I'm a newbie here, but as a recent bride (OK, July 07 ... and, OK, non-Disney ... or even at Florida), I still have weddings on the brain!

For what it's worth, go for the cheapest rings possible. If I had it to do all over again, I would have advised my husband to not buy an e-ring at all and just get me a really great band like I have now. As it is, I barely wear my e-ring out because it makes me nervous.

He found his ring at a storefront jeweller (Jareds, etc.) ... it's titanium and cost $35.

Has your guy checked out non-traditional ring materials? Look at Titanium Era (I'm not allowed to post links ... but you can Google it) . There are some cool rings for $135, which I imagine is practically nothing for y'all these days.

Anyway. Hope you don't mind me bugging in every so often on your planning journal. It makes me wish I had a Disney wedding. :)

Hi there, thanks for posting in my journal. Bug in as often as you like!

I totally agree about the rings. They arrived today and are perfectly ok to get married with. Tim loves titanium rings, and brushed steel, and has a couple that he doesn't wear so he may use one of those. He had forgotten that he had them until I reminded him (after reading your post) so thanks for that!

Congrats on your wedding too

We've changed our plans from the Yachtsmans. We are going to have lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe at around 1230, then over to Port Orleans for some photos and then people can get changed at the Boardwalk and go to Epcot, or go back to their rooms to chill. We are going to book Le Cellier at around 1830 so as long as people are there for the meal they can do what they want for a few hours. We thought it might be a bit much for people swanning around in wedding gear all day, and I still get a decent amount of time in my dress!

So, this is what we have planned so far but I'm sure it will change again!

1000 - Wedding at SBP
1130/1200 - Over to GF for photos
1230 - Lunch at GF
1400(ish) - over to POR/POFQ for photos
1500(ish) - back to Boardwalk to get changed, or people can go back to their rooms
'Play' in Epcot until dinner at Le Cellier, or chill at the hotels - whatever people want to do
1830 - Le Cellier
2100 - Illuminations

What do you think? It keeps it really loose during the day ith the 'ish' timings in case things take longer, or are over quicker, and we are not having to rush getting changed after dinner at the Yachtsmans to get into Epcot for Illuminations. Also, we don't feel as bad then asking people to pay for their entrance to Epcot.

Epcot is our favourite place and we would like to eat there on our wedding, and we are staying at the POR for our honeymoon so it would be really nice to have some wedding shots there.

We are asking people to get to the Boardwalk for our ceremony rather than picking people up in the limo as some will be staing off property. That way their cars will be there when we come out of Epcot that night, and we probably won't need to extend the limo time. We can then get back to the Boardwalk and they can drive to their hotel if they want to.

We can extend our time with Randy for photos (already have him booked :thumbsup2 ) to cover the POR/POFQ shots too.

Also, if we can't get a 1000 slot we could go for the 1200 slot and still stick to the plan with lunch at 1400 at the GF Cafe as that would be the last sitting, or we could then go for the Gardenview Tea Room first sitting at 1400 and still have time for photos before getting changed for Le Cellier.

Please let me know what you think.

Mmmmmm Le Cellier, my favourite

Are you going to transfer your Dinsey photography to do a Honeymoon shoot if you're having Randy?
I think this is what we are going to do, have Misty on the day, and then have a honeymoon shoot another day. I also want the MK shoot, we'll have photos galore!!
I do love photos though and I don't think we'll have a videographer.

You are organised having backup plans and everything!!

Just my $.02 ... but I would do all your pictures (formal portraits, etc.) at all of your locations BEFORE you eat. That way, you can make sure you get all of the shots you want before you go into full-on eating and socialization mode.

Plus - what happens if something spills on your dress? Eep!

I think most people are used to the bride and groom being absent from the first part of the reception because of pictures, so they won't be surprised if you're late. They'll also all be seated and getting ready to eat allowing you guys to make a REALLY grand entrance.

Have you thought about how you're going to do photos with families/wedding guests? Traditional portrait style or are you looking for something a little different?

Hi, we wanted to do that (photos before eating) but we can't really because of the timings. We are only having a light lunch as we are having a full meal on the night so hopefully we won't feel too stuffed. We're not having a meal in a reception room, it's the GF Cafe.

We have Randy Chapman booked for our photos and want the photo-journalistic and candid style rather than formals, but we will have a couple of formals with the wedding group

I know I'm greedy aren't I?!

My original plan was to let Misty leave earlier and have Disney do just the dessert party, but they won't transfer their photographer package to do that, just the ceremony/reception for 2 hours or honeymoon shoot for 1 hour.
Seems a shame that you lose a lot of time with the photographer by doing the honeymoon shoot, but at least as UK Escape brides we get a CD with all the images on anyway included with any Disney photography :thumbsup2

sounds like a good plan. There is no need to stick to normal wedding conventions just do whatever makes you happy.

Hi Everyone, Okay Beep (Alex) you've finally got me on here and I'm already a complete convert. For everyone who has been reading the whole wedding planning journal, I am Alex's friend Kirsty and have had the privilege of acting in an unofficial wedding planner/advisor capacity! Although having read the whole journal I don't think you need me anymore.
Anyway I love the latest revised plan for the day. Can't wait! xx

:rotfl: Is nothing sacred? My PJ gatecrashed by a bl**dy Northerner?! It's about time bird :thumbsup2

I had a brainwave yesterday. An expensive brainwave so far. I decided to do a scrapbook for my Mom and then wanted one for me too. I thought it would be a really nice keepsake for her (and me) of the wedding. It's cost me about $100 for the two books and all the 'bits' but it will look really good - I hope.

See, I have these brainwaves and then my wallet takes over :sad2:

Aww you have to take a picture of the bunny!!!!!

Can't because of prying eyes in the PJ.
