Just returned,
Alamo was a fine choice for car rental.

We arrrived at MCO at about 12pm Tuesday afternoon.
The Alamo counter had the longest line but whenever Nationals counter was free they would serve the Alamo customers.
The wait was really not long at all.

The agent did not push the Collision Damage Waiver, instead he tried to push the Liability Insurance stating that this was Florida's "law/policy" for all car rentals. He even said this was the law in New York as well (where I am from).
I told him that this is not stated on their website, the website says all insurance is "optional". Also, I told him I have rented many times in NYC and never once was told I HAD to get the Liability insurance. He let up, but with a warning of what we would be held accountable for if we were in an accident.
Ok, I understand...we were off with a rate of about $138 for 5 days. (just what my reservation quoted).

Off to parking lot, they had a good choice of cars in the Compact section. I loved the fact of being able to choose our own car. You just pick one and drive off (the keys are in the car).
(This is actually were we spent most of our time, I am really picky)

Drop off, just has simple. Drive in, park car, get a receipt, off to airline terminal.

Overall I'm glad we went with Alamo, I would definitely rent from them again.

Thanks for the Alamo review! We are booked with them right now- they were the cheapest we could find for a van, and also have 1 extra driver (entertainment coupon).

I will make sure my husband reads your review- I plan on sending him and our "additional driver" off to get the rental, while I round up the luggage with the rest of our crew!

I also like the idea of picking out your own vehicle- maybe we will get lucky and be able to get a Grand Caravan!

Thanks again for taking the time to post your review!:D

Thanks for the report. Looks like the counter people are cross trained for both companies. We were wondering about that on another thread.

I actually HATE dealing with the people from Alamo at MCO. I use them everywhere and it is the only place I have found them to be very pushy. The last time we were there they wouldn't process our paperwork unless we took the insurance (I had a copy of my own policy with me to boot). Finally I aksed for a manager, and it was a miracle, the paperwork could be processed. I think the agents get commission on the insurance sales.

Anyhow, I have them booked again for our next trip in March. The bottom line is they are usually the cheapest and they don't take that extra security hold on your card. So I'll just be even more firm this time, and I'll keep coming back.

Not only does the branch get a commission, the agent can be fired if she/he does not sell a quota of insurance per month or week.

I get them a lot via Priceline, and while they always push the insurance a little, there is only one agent who is really obnoxious about it. She tries the old, "Do you want the deluxe or just the basic coverage?" (i.e. trying to trick you into thinking those are the only options). But other than that, and an occasional long wait, we have had good luck with Alamo.
