59 Days until Disney Magic Available Stateroom Question

I have 59 days until our Disney Magic Cruise and there are quite a few staterooms still available. Specifically, 30 Ocean View Verandah rooms and 13 Deluxe Family Oceanview Verandah rooms. I am currently booked in a Deluxe Ocean View Room (Porthole). I'm hoping to upgrade at the port. I was quite surprised at the number of verandah rooms still available at 59 days out. Has anyone seen anything like this before and if so what happened? Was it a slightly less full ship or did you have the option to upgrade at the port?

If there were GT rates available those rooms still all show up even if many of them will be assigned to others. If the sailing is really empty DCL will fill it as best they can with CM and TA rates that are not public. I would not even bother to pay attention to what staterooms are showing available until you are within a week of your sailing after GT rates have been assigned.

If there are rooms available, DCL will allow you to upgrade at port. The amount is based on a scale from the cost of your original room to the new category (still cheaper than upgrading before sailing)

As PP mentions, those rooms may not all be available once GTY and OGT room assignments are done -- which may not be for several weeks yet. You MAY be able to upgrade at the port, but to set expectations upgrades haven't been offered much lately for whatever reason. If it's something that you REALLY want and would be upset if you can't upgrade at the port, then I recommend upgrading now.
