AKV Club Level Question

Hi, I asked this on the resorts forum, but it was suggested I ask here instead. I've been hearing that when the resorts reopen, club level services won't be offered right away. If that is the case, I'm wondering if DVC will cancel/alter my club level reservation? Is that allowed in our contract? If so, how would that work? Do they just lower the points that I spent? I have AKV CL booked for August. Partly with 2018 banked points and partly with 2019 points. (And a few borrowed 2020 points, too). It took me forever to put together this reservation, starting at 11 months out. Booked it one night at a time, with waitlists and by stalking the DVC website for months. I don't really want the points credited back to me if they do indeed change my room category because I can't use the 2018 banked points in time. And the only reason I'm staying at AKL is for the club level. Otherwise I would have moved to a different resort at 7 months. Disney takes DVC rooms out of service all the time, right? For repairs or refurbs. What happens to the guests in those situations?

Nobody knows what will happen when resorts reopen. CL will definitely change because they won’t be leaving food out in the open the way that they have in the past. But other CL services will probably still exist and the lounges will, in all likelihood, remain open for guests to relax. If Jambo is open, I’m pretty sure that your room will be waiting for you.

When DVC has to take a room out of service for maintenance, they move a guest to another villa. If that happens, and the new villa takes fewer points, they refund the difference. If it takes more points, DVC absorbs the cost.

Yes, i have read the reports of someone having their AKL CL room changed, but has not yet been able to get specific information as to why..called and system updates were going on so the CM could not see the notes...but just that the room has changed, and the price adjusted for this cash guest,

If Disney decides they will not be offering CL to guests for a bit, as mentioned, that room will be taken out of service, and you will be moved elsewhere, with points adjusted as was mentioned above,

Until someone checks in on June 22nd...and reports here what happened...we won’t know for sure the initial plan.

Everything on DVC and Disney website that things will be different and limited as we move forward.

If you made a AKL Kidani room reservation for Nov 2020, can you change to CL - Paying cash difference?

or they may leave them in those units, but the lounge will be closed. The rooms should be fine, honestly, and depending on how full up they are moving people may not be easily done.

No. Cash and points shall never mix, and you can't upgrade to CL from a non-CL unit.

The reason I didn’t mention leaving is because how would they adjust points? Would it be just considered standard? Value?

No idea. For all we know, they wouldn't adjust, which sounds bananas, but I don't know how the declaration around Club Level reads, or what it says relative to provision of those amenities. There's a nasty possibility that it's like other "resort amenities" and not guaranteed even though you perceive what you're paying for (per the points charts!) to be not provided. This is DVC, after all. They're playing a lot with technicalities of late.

But, you pay more points for those rooms so there has to be a adjustment.

That is why I think they might move to an open room so they could adjust.

I guess my point is does there need to be an adjustment? What does the association or declaration say about that for AKV? I frankly don't know.

It would be the right thing to do to adjust. But is it legally required? And what will today's DVC lean on as the path - the legal, or the right?

I can’t believe that they would be treated any different than any other category. But, since I am not an AKV owner, I don’t know
