I know that there have probably been 10,000 threads asking the same thing and I apologize for making this thread #10,001!

We have rented points to book a Savanna view studio in Jambo and my husband's only request is to have as good a view of giraffes as possible! I am looking at putting in a request through Touring Plans but I have no idea what room # to ask for, or even which savanna to request.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? We would like a short walk to the bus stops/lobby but will happily sacrifice that for better giraffe viewing from our room.

Thanks for any guidance!

Don't request a room number, that doesn't leave the room assigner much room to give you what you want. Sunset savanna is still the best as far as I know, the highest floors can have a blocked view due to trees. Better to have your request added to the reservation by DVC, some resorts don't like faxed room requests.

Rooms closest to lobby and transportation are rooms with not-so-good savanna views, so avoid that one and plan to walk some. Recommend you request view of Arusha savanna (one in the middle of the u-Shaped building), and along Zebra Trail (right side of the building), and away from the lobby. Rooms in that area have a good view, give easy access to the pool, and, ideally, face west and thus avoid blinding sun beaming through the balcony doors in the morning.

Thank you both of you!

The DVC member I rented the points from said I should request a room either via MDE or when we check in but the MDE options were: Near Lobby, Near Elevator or Lower Floor. We are landing at MCO at 5:25pm so I would rather not wait until we check in before requesting a room.

It sounds like the DVC member you rented from may not want to be bothered with making requests through Member Services (MS) because otherwise he would not have suggested that you just do the online options. A member can make many requests through Member Services that do not appear online, incuding the ones I suggested above, but that requires the member to take the renter's requests and then provide them to MS. You might still want to contact your member and see if he will make requests for you through MS. The online options at check-in are quite limited, designed for guests booking through Disney's regular reservation system, and some are useless for a DVC, e.g., a request for lower floor is pointless at Jambo because all the DVC rooms are on the top, fifth floor, except for the club level rooms on the sixth floor, which exists only above the lobby.
