AKL LITE unofficial FAQ thread#10 - I believe that's known as a 'Jambo Dozen'

Believe me, I know the northeast and midwest have had an AWFUL winter, much worse than anything we're having here in Georgia!! (I am originally from north Jersey by the way! ;))

The storm is well underway here. The sound of the freezing rain bouncing off the windows is deafening. :headache: There are only several power outages so far -- that will likely change very soon. :(

I can't imagine living 1 week without power! :faint:

Stay safe, everyone! We shall make it through this dreadful winter and these devastating storms -- winter's going to end eventually; it just has to!!! popcorn::

Good luck with the storm. It is due here in about six hours.

One week without power was not very enjoyable. I can say that we were more prepared than most of our neighbors were. We gave away a bunch of candles and flashlights (we had little LED ones). We sent our daughter to her friend's house in South Jersey - that was a big relief in our books. Our neighbor allowed us one plug on their generator on the third day.

Our schools have already closed for tomorrow and the snow isn't supposed to start for another hour or so. They'll be halfway to July before school ends at this point. We bought a massive generator seven years ago after a horrible ice storm left us without power for a while. Hoping we don't need it, but glad we have it.

Kimmar, can I join you in the lounge? I'll bring some zebra domes. :)

....:rotfl2:....you got it! :thumbsup2

I am not sure yet. I was going to do kidani but now booking std room not sure which has better views Jambo or kidani?

I prefer the "standard" views at Jambo - it also is the better location as far as restaurants and gorgeous lobby. Most of the "standard" view DVC villas are near the lobby, which is my desired location. I have stayed "Standard View Studio" a number of times and always had a pool view or Sunset Savannah View. :thumbsup2

Kidani, however, has nicer rooms - they were designed specifically as villas, whereas Jambo's were retrofitted.

I would be happy at either, but I personally give Jambo the slight edge!

However, if you're talking about a 1-bedroom Villa, advantage definitely goes to Kidani for room size and that 2nd bathroom!! :thumbsup2

Have fun planning and let us know when you've booked! :goodvibes

Completely agree! Stayed at a standard studio at Kidani in June had a view of the port cochere. So very close to lobby which was great. Page are stayed standard at Jambo in May and hoping for a pool view close to the lobby.

We will be at AKL from May2-May 5 for the EE challenge. This is our first time at this resort. At most resorts it is common to put in a request based on location. Is this something you would do here? We are also staying a standard view room.

I be pretty standard with your request. We usually alway request close to lobby and elevators. That should put you in an ideal location to most amenities.

We are doing 1 bedroom so would u nook kidani std and request close to pool?

I know I have a while yet, but we arrive in Florida late on Thanksgiving and have booked a cheap hotel for that 1st night (check in to AKL 28th) My question is where could we pick up some quick groceries on the way to the resort? I obviously want to avoid places like Walmart and Target being Black Friday and all :scared1: But coming from the UK, I don't know what other places to try. We'll have a car so although close would be preferable, I dont mind if its a bit further out.

Quick question. I know not to expect an upgrade but just wondering if anyone who rented points for kidani has ever been upgraded to savanah view from standard?

Something you'll NEVER see at AKL:

So, last minute change in our trip due to unforeseen circumstances and I booked AKL for 9 nights :hyper:
Dis experts can you give me some help in making a room request?
trip is me, DS 23, his GF 22 and DH will be joining us a few days after check in. Kids are young, and can walk for miles, me...not so much...
We are driving down and to the parks(except for MK) so where would you request for reasonable walk to/from parking lots and bus stop?
