You have had some real bad weather down south and you guys are not used to it.

Just seen our snow totals for Thursday and I just shook my head. Another 6-10" plus talking additional snow on Friday night and Sunday.

May cannot get here soon enough.

MAY?!??!! I'm hoping for April....or even MARCH at this point....

We are preparing for a major ice storm here! :scared: Part 1: ATL is getting rain, sleet, freezing rain at the moment; snowing north of us, in the mountains (including Dahlonega where GaMomof2Girls lives).

Part 2: Overnight tonight and all through Wednesday into Thursday is our "major" event - ICE!!

Really gives one a jolt when you hear weather forecasters using words like "catastrophic"!!! :faint:

We've been here 27 years -- there was 1 other winter I remember that rivaled this one. Oh wait! That was when we still lived in Minneapolis!!! :rotfl:

Eek! Wishing you good luck! Ice storms are not fun. We got hit with one just before Christmas and lost our power for 62 hours(got it back 11am on dec 24), others for much longer. Which probably isn't making you feel better. Just make sure you have lots of batteries, lanterns and blankets (or better yet a generator if you have a house). And keep your phone fully charged too!
I hope that its not as bad as they are making it out to be! (The news like to exaggerate a bit I find). Thinking warm melty thoughts!

Please add us! My sister and I will be staying for the first time 5/1-5/5. :) We're doing our first 5K and are so excited to be staying at the Lodge.

You can be sure the Governor, Mayors, Superintendents, etc., etc. are taking no chances with this storm! (I suppose you heard about the weather event we had here in metro ATL on January 28th!!! :rolleyes1)

Our subdivision has underground utilities so we don't worry about trees taking down power lines. Of course that doesn't mean we won't lose power! During the early January polar vortex, we had power but couldn't keep our house warm -- the gas provider couldn't get enough gas through their lines to service all their customers! (It's the little things you never imagine would happen that can turn life upside-down! :upsidedow) :rotfl:

So I just refreshed my memory for Jan 28. lol, so you already know what to do to be prepared. Crazy and scary! Well I hope its not as bad as it seems and they just want everyone to be super prepared this time! :mic:

Not to be a pain, but can I change my dates? Last minute I know! Due to a series of (crappy) life events, my mom and I are not running the princess. We thought we were going to cancel the trip completely (in fact I had). Then last Monday I went slightly crazy...and booked a new trip. Instead of going down the weekend of 2/20, we are going 2/28-3/4. Still at aKL, still CL. Myself, DD age 13, DD 8, DS 3. My mom will be joining us as well. Sorry I have been MIA.

I also planned a big family trip for the summer. Deluxe rooms at the WL. 12 people with 3 possible addons. That trip is 8:11-8:18.

Just two more weeks of snow!

I was watching the a Weather Channel tonight about what you are expecting and it is scary. I live near the water in Jersey and we tend to gave a lot of ice and mixing with our storms. Not the best situation even when you see it every years. We are expecting another 6-10" from this storm.

Our second storm last week brought snow and the nice to top the 9" we had three days earlier. We have so much still covered in snow and ice here. I drive by a number of cars that have not been dug out from last week. They can't finish clearing the roads there. We managed to clear the stuff out of our driveway on Monday.

We have a generator if we lose power. That was a post Hurricane Sandy investment. One full week with no power was not enjoyable. Although not as cold as it is now our house was in the low 40s before it returned. Then as if that was not enough of a kick in the teeth we had half a foot of snow 9 days after the storm. The snow came the day before we went to Hawaii for our one year delayed 25th anniversary trip. I was petrified we were not going to make it.

Believe me, I know the northeast and midwest have had an AWFUL winter, much worse than anything we're having here in Georgia!! (I am originally from north Jersey by the way! ;))

The storm is well underway here. The sound of the freezing rain bouncing off the windows is deafening. :headache: There are only several power outages so far -- that will likely change very soon. :(

I can't imagine living 1 week without power! :faint:

Stay safe, everyone! We shall make it through this dreadful winter and these devastating storms -- winter's going to end eventually; it just has to!!! popcorn::

....keep safe, LOR-ah....you KNOW it's a bad winter when my DH suddenly blurts out, "This winter's BAD. I need to get away to WDW to get recharged!"

It's my fault...every time I have a 16 hour shift followed by a 12 hour shift we get a terrible storm. Guess I'll sacrifice and quit work :). I'm more surprised by the sheer number of pregnant ladies that want to have babies during the storm! And I know I'm going to be busy next fall-only so many ways to stay warm with out power ;)

I am getting ready to book akv thru rented points. I am thinking std view as we won't be in room much but out exploring. Any suggestions for requests for std view??

Jambo or Kidani?

I'd suggest "near lobby" or "near transportation", depending on your preference. :)
