athenna,

4 times?!! :cheer2: That's a great testimonial right there!! :thumbsup2 What dishes did you try and what would you recommend? :flower3:

Got the menu up on allears right now, so I coudl let you know what I ate....It's hard to remember since it was 4 times:rotfl:

For appetizers we tried the Bread Service YUM!!!!! WIsh i had it right now!
You get a choice of 3 breads, the 3 we picked were the Naan (my fav), Roti and Paneer Parantha...You can pick 3 sauces, the 3 we picked were Roasted red pepper hummus, cucumber raita, and garlic-ginger pickle.

another time we tried the Paneer Cheese, which I expected to not like, but I let my father pick...It was delicious...The cheese was smooth and yummy...I'm not a big fan of eggplant, but I loved this! Spicy without being over powering.

we had the salad sampler the same day we had the bread svc, we just wanted apps that day, we picked the chickpeas w/cuke & tomatos (my fav of the 3), potato, corn & spinach, and okra, radish tomato

the 1 night we had dinner there, for an app we tried the scallops, I thought they were a little blah, but not bad.
I had banana wrapped sustainable fish that night. :thumbsup2 and I think dad had the Tandoori chicken.

for lunch entrees, my father had the prk chop and loved it
I had the Tandoori Sustainable fish...YUM! Loved how it was served in Naan bread, I ate every bite.

desserts we tried at various times were the eggless choc cake, very good! The cardamom cake (my fav of their desserts) and mango something (it's not listed on allears, so I forget what it's called) I hate mango, so I didnt eat it, but dad loved it.

for drinks, I had beer-Safari Amber...But on my 1st day there, I did have some kind of wine that was a good match for my fish...There are suggestions right on the menu of which wines make good pairs.
I did try a Painted Lemur, because I love Amarula...It was delicious.

My dad is still talking about the Kenyan coffee press pot.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm totally new to AKL (but SOOOO longing forward to staying there), but what is Sanaa?

Do you need ressies? Do they take the dining plan?

Any info would be great!

Sanaa is the new full service restaurant at the Kidani Village section of AKL...You dont need ressies, the secret isnt out yet, lol....Once it is, you may! I did make ressies for the 1st time i ate there, it was my arrival day lunch and I wanted to make sure I could get in....The other 3 times, we just walked in....Yes, they take the dining plan

Thanks RachelTori for the info. on Baked. I just visited their website and everything looks delicious. I'll make sure to stop in and pass the name on to my friends. I'll also have to get an updated phonebook! ;)

Oh geez - I'm already having trouble deciding!!! :rotfl:
I can see where I will need to try Sanaa multiple times!! ;)

Floss -- thanks for the pictures and links!

athenna -- sorry about the rain, but it sounds like you had a great time anyway!

My DH said yesterday -- only half-kiddingly -- to see how much we'd have to pay extra to stay at AKL in TWO WEEKS instead of Pop! :cool1: I wish. :)

RachelTori -- thanks for the link -- those really are great Kidani photos! I see by your ticker that your trip is coming up fast! You must be so excited -- have a great time!

Thanks! I'm just hoping it will dry out a little by the time we get there!! :)

Staying at an Atlanta Airport hotel Tuesday night so I will be at the gate in plenty of time for my Wednesday morning flight to MCO!! :yay:

DH & DD don't fly to Orlando until Thursday morning -- gives me a day of "girlfriend time" to catch up with one of my longtime best friends (known her since Kindergarten!! :upsidedow) who lives in Orlando.

That sounds so nice -- you are so lucky to be so close to WDW, too! We spend an entire day on planes and in airports and show up at night even though we leave our home around 5am!:headache: It would be so great to get in in the morning. (Did it once through Atlanta, but we did not feel refreshed after the red-eye we took to get there:laughing:).

Keep us all posted on AKL and all the changes there with the busses, Kidani, and the activities, if you don't mind.;)

 I never find Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport to be a refreshing experience!! But I know what you mean about your long travel day - I used to live in California and Colorado.

I will definitely be taking notes (and pictures!) at Jambo & Kidani!

Must remember to check the Room Service Menu for the Prime Rib for TyRy! (and don't think we didn't know you were lurking 312.duck! ;))

:teeth:

Have a great time, esp spending the day with your best friend. :goodvibes Hopefully the Orlando area will be all rained out by the time that you get there.

I sure hope the rain stops for you -- I know there was a drought, but this sounds like way too much water all at once. I hope it's not indicative of what this summer is going to be like.:headache:

athenna - thanks for the review of Sanaa. I booked it before it opened as our family loves Indian food. Good to know you enjoyed.

I've been reading the thread for a while now and have a quick question for the "experts". We're staying club and I wondered what any of you might be able to share about these rooms and if I you'd recommend making any particular room/area requests.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Actually, one of the views is above the wading pool, but you had to look down directly to see it:

..it should have Mickey ears...:rolleyes1

I'm hardly an expert but we stayed in 4503 Zebra Trail. Great experience. Loved catching a few sunsets over the savannah. Close to elevator for dining/pool. The elevator for the lobby and lounge was a little bit of a haul but we loved taking in all of the detail of the resort with every trip. I will be requesting Zebra Trail in Sept.

Hooray I convinced DH to stay at AKL for the second part of our trip in September! I just got off the phone with Disney and made the changes! I am very excited and look forward to reading up on everything. Thank you in advance for your help
