Hi, y'all!
I've been reading this thread (and its ancestors) for years, but never posted because every question I ever had was already asked and answered (and AKL was somewhere we always talked about staying...someday). But now we're 24 days away from our first AKL trip and I'm completely jacked up about it, so I thought I'd stop by and say hello and thank you for all the info and tips that helped me make the decision to try AKL. I have two children (DS9 and DD7) and I just know I'm gonna score major Dad-points for this one.![]()
Uzima Springs Pool Bar
Does the AKL pool bar do food?
We arrive about 5pm, and what with the jet lag and stuff will just need to eat and then crash.
I thought rather than eating in Mara it'd be lovely if the pool bar did evening snacks so we could enjoy some sunshine (we don't get any in the UK).
Are there any Menus around? I couldn't find one on allears or aklresort.com
Also, can you take food out from Mara? So maybe get dinner and eat it on our balcony?

Hey,
your family is going to really enjoy the AKL, there are so many things they can do
. You will have to let us know how your trip goes
. have a safe and magical trip.

By the way it's nice to see that somebody else is from my little part of the world,I'm originally from Senoia, GA, now I live outside of Barnesville GA.

I'd love to do a full-blown trip report someday, but I don't have a laptop and I just don't know if I want the hassle of writing notes while I'm on vacation. Since the PC was invented, I've all but forgotten how to use a pen and paper. I'll let you know, though, one way or another.
My lovely bride was a little Yankee girl from Vermont who came to me by way of Alvaton, GA. She graduated from ECHS in '84. (I've almost converted her, but she still won't eat turnip greens.)
I hope you won't take this personally, but the part of every trip to WDW that I absolutely dread is driving through 'your little part of the world'. On the way down, it seems like that drive down Hwy 16 takes fooorrrreeevvveerr, and on the way back after doing 70-80 mph for 300 miles, I feel like I'm standing on the brake through Senoia.:
I think I read somewhere that you can walk it, but it is not a very pleasant walk because you walk along a road and/or parking spaces. It supposedly takes 15 to 20 min. I think walking there makes more sense since going Jambo -> Kidani you have to take the DTD bus and those are not the most frequent ones. Kindani -> Jambo you can hop on any theme park bus. Also if it is hot, better do the walking before you are getting refreshed at the pool!![]()
Not sure if it has been said but Kidani pool is gated so you need your room key to get into the pool

???Also not to obsess on the coffee maker thing-but since I am actually obsessed with coffee-good strong coffee...
-I will probably bring my own coffee/sugar-buy AKL mugs in the Marketplace and get some milk in Mara- a lot of hotel coffee makers have the coffee pods now-so I assume the ones in the Lodge do as well??? So the pod coffee is self contained in a filter-so am I correct in assuming I'll need filters?
I know that at Boma you can get coffee in a press which is awesome
Welcome!

I'm a coffee-snob, too, and always take my own supply (including 4-cup filters - seems to be the standard for hotel rooms). The next best thing to sliced bread was Starbucks putting bagged coffee in grocery stores....We have ADRs for Boma on our first night. That will be awesome after the road trip...
Thanks for this Flossbolna-we'll walk there and ride back......

I know that at Boma you can get coffee in a press which is awesome and I'm guessing that Jiko and now Sanaa probably have good coffee but is the coffee from the Mara the traditional Disney Nescafe?-I can't help it...
I don't like it...(my mom loves it-she thinks my coffee could put hair on your chest)...
I think we are going to get our share of that rain Florida had-we are supposed to have heavy duty storms and rain here...(outside of Philadelphia) I can hear the thunder...
Torsie, Mara is actually next to the pool, it has a cute outside seating area:

But you could easily cary your tray just a few yards further to the tables by the pool bar.
Also, you can take the tray from Mara up to your room and eat on the balcony. Housekeeping will take the tray with them, when they clean the room. We did that every morning:

Wow!! Thank you!!
That all looks heavenly!!!!![]()
