AirTran and Delta ?'s

Airtran has a great flight for us at a regional airport nearby....we've never flown them my ? is you can fly for $99, but is says you get seat assigned at check-in. Do you think we could get 3 /2 seats together for family of 5? None of my kids are old enough to sit by themselves. It's definately the cheapest and closest, but I'm hesitant to book it.


My other ? on Delta is right now they have a special for $79 but it's only thru July 28th travel...you must book by April 19th. At that point will they put out another special for travel thru Sept./Oct? Any history of doing that?

We've flown Airtran (as Airtran and prior to as Value Jet) and never had a problem with getting seats together. They always assign seats at check in. We're flying them down to Disney in Aug, and my oldest daughter (8 then) and I will fly into Atlanta where we have a layover and meet my mom. When I check in I just plan to be sure that I remind them we need seats together becuase of her age. When I took her at a younger age and she still had a carseat, they allowed the elderly, handicapped and families with small children in car seats to board first and get situated before allowing general boarding.

You can check in online 24 hours in advance. At that point you can choose your seat assignment. You should be okay, but you are right there is a risk, minimal I believe.

I feel better with your responses...this would be so much easier than flying out of LGA. I'll think about it this week and I'd like to make a decision and purchase the tickets.
