Airtran and checked baggage

This is the first time we have to pay for checked bags. I was lucky last year, cause I had booked my flights before the checked baggage rates came into effect. We are flying Mond. I will have the laptop with me. Just curious, can I pay online for my bags? Will they send me an email to do so? I also have 2 $10 coupons I want to try to apply to it. Anyone know if I can do this online, or do I have to wait until I get there?

Yes, you can pay online for your bags. No, they will not send you an email to do so. I am unsure about your vouchers and if you can apply them for your bag fees (does the fine print provide any information?). Some airlines knock a few bucks off your bag fees if you pay in advance, online, but AirTran is not one of them. So, there are really no advantages to paying ahead of time. If I were in your shoes, I would just show up at the airport with your vouchers and ask if you can apply them to your fees.

You won't be able to apply the vouchers online to checked bags. The web site doesn't provide that option, credit card only. Using them at the airport may also be a challenge. They usually indicate that they are for new flight reservations, so you can't usually use them for baggage fees, but some people have tried and were successful.
