Airmiles Shop the Block 2018 - BONUS MILES POSTING NOW

I've updated the posts on the first page to include terms & conditions, a link to the FAQ's (holy big list this time Batman!), suggestions for coupons that require little or no cash outlay and an entire post dedicated to online shopping that i will keep updated with information regarding multiplier offers for the inevitable followups most of us will be forced to complete!!

If there's anything you think should be added to that page just let me know. This thread will soon become hard to keep up with so I'll do my best to keep information current. If you need to find something in a hurry and I'm not around (yes, there are times when I'm not attached to some sort of electronic device :P) you can use the search option at the top of the page with these filters:

If you think it's something i might have answered you could also put my screen name in the Posted by Member box (or glance thru for my super identifiable font :rolleyes1)

Dartmouth NS: Today was a work-from-home day, which accidentally ended up including 3.5 hours of morning errands with the hubby - oops! ;) But I got him to stop into Lawtons (they had plenty of booklets), and we also checked out Global Pet foods (forgot to look for booklets, but it turns out we won't find $50 of stuff, our chubby cat eats weight loss food vet-specific brand). We also went to 2 different Sobeys (he works there and needed to transfer something from one store to another) and I genuinely can't remember if I saw booklets, sorry! but as the website shows, our "deal" doesn't start until Dec. 6th (and I'll need to save a bunch of big buys for then to meet the $150 spend threshold... vitamins, paper towel/TP, etc.).

Finally, I nipped into the NSLC (which also had booklets out). The site and booklet show only 3 offers: 2 cans belgian moon, 3 cans stella artois or 2 cases of heineken beers. As I'm a bit of a dabbler in beer drinking since visiting Germany for 3 weeks a few years ago, I figured the cash outlay for 2 cans wasn't outrageous and picked those up (no indication of AM point on receipt... card scanned yes, points no).

For other NS collectors, I will say, that they had STB signs for MANY other items. They had big "Shop the Block" logos on the signs, and the employee said they had a large list of participating items (still seemed to be mostly beers). Some brands of beer needed you to only buy 1 can to qualify. SO... Cautiously... possibly a "cheap" (1 can = $4ish) bonus option? Please do whatever you're comfortable with however! For example, I bought 3 cans of a brand I like because it had bonus points and was supposed to count (Rolling Rock) but I didn't assume it would count as 1 STB coupon, so as I said, I ALSO bought the 2 belgian moon (and I hope I will like it). I may go in with my husbands card later on and buy one of the 1 can promos if we are close to getting the 5 or 7 sponsors.

Ugh, this is not going to be easy for me to get the 2000AM!

I am pretty sure I can get:
Thrifty Foods
Shell - Already done this one, I was in desperate need of gas but I had been waiting until today!
Rexall
airmilesshops

I might be able to get:
Miss Fresh - We already do Good Food box but I might pause that one for a week and try this one.
Staples - We order things from Staples for the office but I really don't know if I can scrape together a $100 order
Jiffy Lube - Our two work cars might be up for an oil change?

Boooooooo!

Ok, for those in Kanata, I just visited all of our options along the March Road corridor. By the time I went to Metro I was getting loopy...but I recognized the banner on one of the boxes near the cashiers and they opened it for me so I could have a booklet.

Let the shopping begin!

OMG, I almost screwed up already! :faint:

I'm cutting out my printed Air Mile coupons and thankfully my eye caught the date on the Foodland coupon. It starts tomorrow!

Ok... we're back to pizza for dinner tonight. :rotfl:

So glad you caught this! I'm just reading through today's posts now and was going to post thinking I'd be too late to warn you. Wouldn't have been a great start. Thanks for the Foodland suggestions, I may try tomorrow and am always so lost when I go there on.

I got a booklet at Shell on Eagleson - remember there are different versions of the coupon booklets - the Shell one doesn't have Sobeys, Foodland etc - it does have the Global Pets coupon

First rookie type error when doing a redemption. I was at IGA this afternoon, the cashier had just completed my friends order (coupon, redeeming AM etc), she knew we were together, asked for my AM card. I handed her my card and said that I wanted to redeem 95 AM cash but I kept the coupon in my hand because I was talking about the promotion with her. I didn't realize this stupid!!! rookie mistake until I had put through my CC. Too late to do anything (or so she said). 95 AM redeemed and no coupon used. Lesson learned. Went back and did another shop for $10 worth of stuff. Went to a different cashier for this transaction. He used the coupon, my AM card but didn't put the redemption through. I realized this before I paid. It took 4 cashiers and a supervisor to get the redemption to work before I paid. People were lining up behind me, looking annoyed, but what could I do. Don't chit chat, stay focused, count through the steps and check your receipt for a code before stepping away from the cash.

Fortunately this was at the IGA in Gatineau so they won't see me again until the next big promotion. :o

Two down 5 or 6 to go.

Weird, I just got a booklet and gas there, it has Sobeys and Urban Fresh in it? Global Pets is in that one and the Metro version...

IGA redeem 95AM cash, Coupon code 115, receipt from LCBO should show the product # for the item you purchased.

I also did a rookie mistake at my IGA today. Everything went smoothly for the transaction on my card (redeemed 95AM). When it was DH's card turn, the cashier said sorry there's no cash AM on this card.... I had forgotten to unblock his account! Grr! Since a long line was building up behind me I paid and left. Will go back this weekend for try #2,

I got the same coupon number (Code 115) for IGA. Maybe we should have a post that keeps track of the coupon codes that should appear on our receipt?!? No PLU this time, only Coupon Code ###.

I ordered GCs twice (physical and then e-GC) from Indigo during the back-to-school promo and neither posted so it's not guaranteed IMO.

Is anything with Air Miles ever guaranteed? :sad2:

Sorry that didn't go smoothly for you! It *is* allowed though, as long as nothing has changed since September, so a possible option for anyone who wants the Air Miles Shops promo but doesn't have anything they immediately need to buy. Good to be aware of potential issues in advance though!

Ok, so I did an online purchase through airmiles at well.ca for $104 before taxes. They had the garmin vivofit jr I wanted to get kiddo for Christmas at the same price as amazon. And since they do airmiles at well.ca now I should get the 50 bonus for spending over $50, and the online shop bonus of 50 as well... but we all know my luck with this :) so while I hope it counts, I'll be doing at least 7 other store just in case. I added some stuff I wanted to get at amazon that is about the same price on well. Now it will take much longer to get, if I had ordered through amazon I'd have it tomorrow but suspect it will be late next week before I get what I ordered. Oh well! Nothing was that urgent any way.

Keeping the receipt codes in one place is a really good idea!
