Okay...I know I'm probably inviting flames, but I need your advice!

After waiting for AP codes to no avail, I took everyone's advice and booked ressies for our June/July trip at AAA rates (that we could afford!) for a split stay between POR:RS and AKL.

Although I'm sure POR:RS is great, we'd really hoped to upgrade to a split stay between WL and AKL (in any order) if codes are released. With each day that goes by, I get more and more worried that they won't have any rooms left at the resorts that we'd like.

I know that you are allowed to hold more than one reservation at a time, and can then apply AP codes when and if they become available (or cancel if they don't.) I hadn't reserved the whole stay in our ~*ideal*~ resorts because I'd heard people say that if the Gods of Disney see that rooms are being booked at rack rates, they'll be less likely to release AP codes at all.

BUT...now I'm getting really worried that if I don't hold the rooms we'd like, and the AP codes are released when I'm not able to get to a computer or phone right away, we'll miss out on our ~*ideal*~ stay because I hadn't held them.

I want to be fair to everyone and not mess up the system by holding double ressies, as I know it annoys some people, but how do I weigh that against doing what's right for us for what will be our last trip for years?!

:confused3

Any advice?

No flames here. :) But this is a big topic of discussion on the boards.

Years ago, before disney had a bigger computer; you used to be able to have more than 1 ressie. And was rather popular to do. Now not so easy. I was re-arranging dates and they said you have a ressie this date to that, and I said as soon as this is completed I will cancel it with you but I want to make sure I could get this instead... ......

Now I am presently double booked with the dolphin (special e-mail code from feb. @ 129 with room upgrade) for a few days in case I don't like my final price (no ap discount) or the sticker shock of 18 nites at the poly > scare me. {have AAA rate}. Just to drop the overall price. I would love to stay at the dolphin in October but food and wine fest & conventions have filled it . But for reason of taking my nephew just might bite the bullet and stay only at 1 resort.

The only thing I have at present is my October ressies & august ressies = they will let you do that now.

PORS is our fav. moderate. We also consider this route. Do dolphin with that deal or see if I want to get pors? But my dolphin price is very hard to give up that location. (we are not doing ME or dining). I would think you would enjoy it. I have stayed WL and PORS and prefer PORS. But that is us.

Try to hang in there. and good luck with this decision but I would be surprised if you could double book disney. Unless you have 2 families or 2 different names / phone #.

Thanks for the quick response!

I'm actually sort of relieved to hear that you can't really hold 2 ressies. Then my only decision is whether I should cancel our first set (that we know we can manage at the AAA rates) and reserve the AKL/WL combo with major fingers crossed for AP codes. Of course, if no codes are released for those dates, I could still ask to apply AAA rates, but it would still be $$$ more.

I guess I have some more thinking to do...I'll probably just stick with what we've got and hope that it all works out in the end. After all, we'll be at WDW no matter where we stay!

I'm holding a reservation for June 10 - 18 at POFQ. If an AP rate comes out for AKL Pool View I'll take it. You didn't do anything wrong, book what you know you can pay for and upgrade if the AP rate comes out.

Holding the reservation doesn't really make a difference on the AP rate. There are x rooms avaialble. So if they are sold out when you call it really doesn't matter if you already had an AKL room or not. They won't just "apply" it to your reservation if there isn't rate availabilty because you already had the reservation.
