I am trying to decide on the DDP for our May 2008 trip, and am on the fence.

I have calculated out what I think the costs will be both ways, and because we are doing multiple character meals, one dinner at CA grill, and a fantasmic package, it looks like we will save $88 by doing the DDP (plus the added bonus of feeling "obligated" to enjoy those snacks, where we might otherwise not do much of that).

My concern is for my 7 year old son. I have looked at numerous menus at allears.net, and it really looks like WDW wants kids to eat PBJ and Mac Cheese for most counter service meals.

I am most concerned that I can't seem to find a kids' pizza anywhere...

Can parents out there please weigh in on what kinds of counter service options you found for kids?

I appreciate your help...if we end up having to pay OOP for our son every counter service meal to get him chicken nuggets or pizza of the regular menu, the DDP will definitely not be a good option for us.

Thanks for your help!

Chris

Kids pizza- well everyone has the same pizza at Toy Story Pizza Planet- we go there for a CS meal every year to give my boys a pizza fix not to mention the whole "cool" aspect. Tangerine Cafe in Epcot has pizza for the kids too.

There are Chicken nuggets at some places- one off the top of my head is Cosmic Rays and Pecos Bills in the Magic Kingdom. Also, you can get a happy meal w/ nuggets & fries at the McDonalds Restaurantasaurus in the Animal Kingdom.

Casey's at the Magic Kingdom has hot dogs for all.

At Epcot there is Sunshine Seasons- which has mini subs, chicken legs and sweet and sour chicken as options. Electric umbrella has nuggets and turkey pinwheels.

IMO there are a lot of choices outside of MGM but we don't like the CS there period.

my dd had pizza or nuggets everyday for our trip on the ddp. Pizzafari, peco bills cosmic rays, sorry to say mcd's at epcot, pop century, wolfgang pucks express. you won't have a problem finding nuggets and pizza. as for the plan,if you are doing it b-4 the new plan, i would go for it. my family of 4(2 adults,8 and 3 kids) averaged $36 a day in counter service. if i wouldn't have went with the plan we would have had 2 counter services a day and $10-15 in snacks(ice cream and stuff). for my $100 a day plan, snack a plenty for the kids each day, 1 counter service and a great sitdown each night that i would have never went to w/out the plan. we really didn't spend anything on food or water cause of all the snack credits. it really made us feel like kings eating anything we wanted for 8 days, not looking at the prices once(but not wasting food)!

Not supposed to do it and I will get flamed for this reply but...just have you and your hubby order seperate and each of you could order adult meals and get one for your son. Then your son is happy and you all get what you what. 9 days and no complaints from our kids at ts and they ate just what they wanted.

Thanks everyone for the feedback!!

I really appreciate it, and am so glad to hear the many options for nuggets and pizza.

There is a Sticky at the start of the DP thread titled..Everything you want to know...or something like that. In there you'll find a list of CS locations that only serve adult meals ie. kids order from the same menu. If I recall there are three pizza places 2 in Epcot and Toy Story Pizza Planet at MGM. Its a good list to know/have as you make meal choices.
