Adventures of the "Moms" Panel

Hmmmm.....

I don't think they'd post on here, but I'm sure they are keeping up with everyone. Basically, I'd think they'd be watching how excited everyone was!

Heck, can you even imagine if it was known that they were "watching?"

All of us that DIDN'T get picked would have been singing our own praises on here and saying how much we know about Disney and how many trips we plan for all our family and friends! LOL...What a nightmare that could have turned into!

P.S. Can't wait to hear what your gift is!

Okay, are any of you on The Mouse for Less' Yahoo Group's e-mail list?

Erica C.'s brother (a.k.a. Ratboy) is on there, and she has been posting about him applying (and then winning) on there.

She posted this earlier:
"LOL- I can't believe he picked the name RatBoy for his DIS username. What's up with that?
And that Disney picked him nonetheless. It was very clear that the Disney group followed the DIS discussions on the panel. Kinda funny thinking about that, having a Disney spy reading the posts, basically.
So, fess up. Which one of you is the Disney mole for TheMouseForLess? ;-)
Erica C."

So....how does that make everyone feel? Wow! Who knew? :)
Deb

Who knew what?:confused3

All of the finalists knew that some of the Disney interviewers were reading the posts, because they mentioned during the interviews that they wanted to clear up some confusion about the prize trip that had been "posted on some of the Disney Boards."

Regarding "ratboy", I also was concerned that they would not pick me because of this DIS username. I even tried to figure out how to change it, but it didn't seem possible.

Erica doesn't even know where the name comes from, but I'll let you in on the secret (not really very exciting, I must admit)...The username is simply a nickname I had when I worked at a supermarket company in S. Florida many years ago. One of the ladies that worked in a nearby cube was a buyer and always had free food from vendors. She would often share some of it with me (box of frozen buffalo wings, a 25 lb. salmon, etc.) -- sometimes by passing the food through a crack in the cube partitions between our cubes. Others at work thought this looked like I was being fed through a crack in the wall, like a rat, and they started to affectionately call me "RatBoy." As far as nicknames go, I kinda liked it, so I thought I'd use it again here. It has no connection to Disney whatsoever, and I'm soooo glad it didn't hold me back.:thumbsup2

Now to go and figure out what else my dear sister is writing about me...

-Bret

That is a really funny nickname story Bret! :rotfl:

I love it! LOL....I'd keep the name too! It works, and heck, maybe they picked you BECAUSE of the user name and its tie to a certain new DVD release! LOL...

I think Erica is psyched! She sounds so excited about you getting picked. I think it's neat that she's posting on one "board" and you are posting on another!

..and for what it's worth--I meant, "Who knew Disney Execs might be reading our little thread?!" :goodvibes

It makes us a little bit "important," doesn't it? :goodvibes

You guys are cracking me up:lmao: No one on this board is lacking in the imagination dept.
Bret- as a woman I say let your sis brag a bit... isn't that what we do best chit chat.......
I'm not the mole!! (did like that TV show when it was on) I do think that it would be a cool job though and what a laugh:rotfl: I would be having!!! The folks at Disney know what their intentions are with the panel and we are all just guessing. I'm sure they find all of this somewhat amusing, who wouldn't. A bunch of people DREAMING up stuff and creating "what if" scenarios. This gives me an idea, if we can't get a job at Disney maybe we could all become writers in Hollywood. This is like our own little soap opera "As the Panel is Chosen" or "The Waiting and the Wishing"
Julie

Hi Bret,

Congrats! I thought they were only looking for goils...

:)

Your sister is dear: I had the wonderful experience of doing Seaworld with her a couple of years back and she is a fun person! She isn't saying anything about you other than that you made it! And that whole name thing... speaking of which, a bit different story regarding a "rat" name: RatFink- you ever hear of that? Not sure if you are old enough. Rat Fink was a cartoon character created by Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, a major player in the 60's California Car scene, had lots of model kits in his name, and he developed that character precisely as a response to Mickey Mouse! I was with his niece in line for The Matahorn one day...

The CM's that called you were execs - and believe me, they're almost as thrilled announcing this to you as you are receiving it!

And you know this how??? Do tell!

Bret - good Ratboy story:rotfl2: . When I lived in NYC in a brownstone, we had a guy do some work in the basement on the boiler. When he finished he came up and said very cryptically, "Mickey's cousin is in the basement." I had no idea what he was talking about. So I say, "Who's Mickey?" He" says, "Mickey Mouse." Me, "There are mice in the basement?" Him, "Mickey's not there. Mickey's COUSIN is there." Me, "What the (explative deleted) are you talking about strange boiler repair guy." Him, "RATS! There are RATS in the basement."

So, that's what I thought of when I heard Ratboy. I pictured you as Mickey's cousin -- a big-eared, four-fingered guy with red pants. :lmao:

I work in the department -- and love my job so much that I don't tell anyone anything any time, any how.

I retired as a secretary from a University job in Indiana, moved down here and got a dream job.

That is so exciting for you! How neat that you got your dream job! :)

Have fun with all of this! It must be so exciting to see everyone's excitement.

I've been in the Disboard for years, do a lot of reading/not much posting.

I just happened upon this thread because it was relevant to me. :thumbsup2

For those of you that don't want to spoil what the gift was, but would like to share it with those of us who are very curious, why not post it invisibly?

Highlight the text between here and...Whatever you'd like to post, post it here! ...here with your mouse... and you'll see how you can do it.

All you have to do is type it like this:

[ COLOR="#F5F5FF" ] hidden text goes here [ /COLOR ]

(take out the spaces between the brackets - and you're all set! :)

Being that I am the one who is trying to be patient, why don't I just promise not to read the board for a few hours and then you guys can post away.

If I can have the box sitting smack dab in the middle of my table and not open it, then I can resist the urge to open a website too!

I really do appreciate you guys trying to help me keep it a secret, it is just so special to have complete strangers be so kind!

I got so many PM's from strangers wishing me luck and hoping that I would be on the panel. It makes me feel great!!!!!!! I have always wanted to be a writer, this has certainly inspired me to continue that dream!

Okay, signing off until I open the package. Post away!

Nicole

Actually, I think it would be OK to post what I received now that it's later in the day...if you are a runner up and reading this...don't read this post further!!

Here is what I wrote to some of the winners that I'm in touch with:

What a nice surprise this morning when the FedEx truck pulled in. Of
course I was first hoping there was a change of mind on the Disney end and
they were sending me my paperwork for MOMS Panel but then I saw that the
box was too big. My first impression was that it might be a briefcase of
sorts.

Now, let me try to describe this beautiful gift and do it justice!!!
It's in a beautiful, sturdy box, with a picture of the castle on front
with the words "Walt Disney World - Where dreams come true..."

When you open this beautiful box, there is an absolutely georgeous
rectangular platter - about 10.5" x 15.5 inches. The plate coordinates with
the box with the same beautiful picture and script. It comes
with a stand so that it can be easily displayed. It's beautiful.

Those folks on the MOMs panel sure have class. Well done!

I hope I described it well enough. Diane :)

Will you all post a picture of the gift after a few days (so everyone has time to get their own surprise!!!)?

I'm so excited for everyone! :yay:

I need to know more about this department? Sounds fun!!

That platter sounds beautiful. What a wonderful surprise for you all.:goodvibes

I wonder if the Dis Panel execs need any help planning the goals for panelists or even what kind of training might be necessary in order to achieve there goals? :confused3

I bet we can come up with several really brilliant ideas here! :wave2: Hi Dis Execs!:surfweb:

Also dollhouse, We are not big Browns fans here, but mostly because we seldom watch football since are big soccer people.:rotfl:

Kim, Had any luck finding the other 6 panelist? I've found two from another board who didn't make it. Hmmmm.... Now I'm curious. Sounds like we may have another soap opera on our hands "The Secret 6"

Kim and everyone else, I have found two additional panelist.

Kimberly LaPaglia
Laura Spencer
The PassPorter has them listed on their board along with Heather.
I'd like to say Congrats to these two as well. I will keep searching for the other 4 who are hiding.
