Adventures of the "Moms" Panel

sorry..I've been very busy with a muscial that opened last night...I'm from the Southeast, with 5 kids, as all have said before me, there is a vast demographic of age, number of kids, moms, a dad, and education, etc.

It's been almost surreal, not sure where to turn. It's exciting, but at the same time very frightening, and the responsibility unclear. The roles and responsibilities yet to be determined.

I had only started lurking on this board after my third interview, i didn't know it existed to be honest. I spent most of my time reading books, and reading travel reviews.

I will be around, just dividing my time, as another said, I lived on my computer for almost 2 weeks, reading, waiting interviewing, and then waiting for that call.

I have so much catching up to do. I also didn't realize this thread had been started. The previous thread had been soo long.

blessings to all,

She has never had a bottle - none of my girls ever did. Because I never left them - ever. Is that weird? lol I BFed until they are around 1 (slightly longer for my first, slightly shorter for my second) and I just never bothered trying to have them take a bottle. I'm a SAHM so I didn't have any pressing reason to do it. :confused3

I'm going to keep trying to get her to take a bottle and see how that goes. My sister said that I would enjoy the break of going alone and she may be right. Hard to imagine having never been away from the kids, but the idea of taking a long shower, or eating a warm meal, or finishing a complete sentence does sort of sound appealing! :upsidedow

Hi, I've been lurking and have been so excited for you all! I wanted to tell you, Bella, that I had a similar situation when my DS was only 4 months old. He never would take a bottle from me, but he finally would take one from grandma. I got chosen to be on a game show when he was 4 months old, and would have to be in LA for a number of days for filming. I started pumping after each feeding for a couple of weeks before going and built up quite a stash. But I also had grandma and DS come on the trip. They were not going to be allowed at the soundstage, so they stayed back at the hotel, but at least I was able to bf at night (he was still waking at night), and took bottles of pumped milk during the day. I also took a pump with me to the sound stage and dumped to relieve pressure. Maybe something like this would work for you?

I'm so happy for you all... congratulations!

Hi Erin,

"I am having a hard time finding a temporary internet files folder that i can open and see content. I can see the cookies, and i can delete the files, but I don't see where I can see the actual list of files."

There are also multiple cookies folders so what you saw may not be the folder where the files are kept. Anyway, you can do one of two things: either use start/search and search <all files and folders> for <Temporary Internet Files> in your harddrives; or work your way through from the folder my computer and follow it to <C:\Documents and Setting\(account name)\Local Settings\Temporary Interenet Files> where (account name) is whatever name you have on your account on your puter. Once you get to that folder, you can right click on it to add a shortcut to your desktop (right click, then <send to desktop>) This folder should be cleared after every visit to the net- it is where cookies are stored that track you. To add the shortcut, you actually go up one level, then right click on the icon there for <Temporary Interent Files> and send shortcut to desktop.

Again, there are similarly named folders so look for that exact one- fully spelled out.

As for the link, if you want, send it to me and I will give it a shot. If I can get it, then I could make it an MP3- if it can be done- and send it to you. ejud2001 @ Yahoo.com (remove spaces)

Good luck!

:)

Heather- My dd's name is Lilly too! Actually Lillian, but we always call her Lilly. She has just started calling herself Lilly-in.
Does dd take a bottle at all? I just wondered if you took her along maybe you could bf when with her and pump and/or ff with a bottle other times. I suppose it all depends on what you'll be doing and how busy you'll be. Maybe you should call them and just discuss it to see how difficult it might be. It just seems ashame to have to wean her if you & she aren't ready. I wanted to bf my kids but I had a hard time and didn't not have the support I needed to keep trying so I gave up. I've always been sad about that.

I was just checking out the wdw site and my kids saw the Christmas events slide show ad and they both stopped in their tracks to come over and look at it. They were oohing and aahing. I can't wait to tell them we are going next month. I hope I can hold out till Thanksgiving like we planned!:santa:

Too funny guys, we almost had a Lilian, instead we have an Emma, and Clare.
Heather- I would not go cold turkey. Just thinking of the baby or if you get homesick could cause a messy situation. (know what I mean?) I used a pump on all three and when they got a bottle I used those Playtex bottles with the brown nipples and the bags. All three did well with these. I am a SAHM also and my kids did not leave my side until they went to Kinder. even then we sent them to a private school where they only went half day. I don't know who's worse me or them.
About surprise trips, one year Hurricane Rita head toward Houston so we had to evacuate. People were on the freeways for 12 hrs just trying to go 90miles. So at noon we called Disney, at 6pm that night we were one a plane. I never told our kids where we were going, I just told them to get some clothes because we were leaving. (they thought we were going to Wisc.) When we got to the airport our oldest figured it out because she herd them say Orlando. It was not until we were on DME that our middle daughter knew. It was too cute, we said Clare, we're at Disney! She looked at us and said (Texas style) FUR REAL!! We all just laughed:rotfl2: This entire time on the bus the TV was playing Disney's promotional video, but she never caught on. It's moments like this I will never forget.

I just got back from ds's soccer game. Man am I cold, I can't seem to get warm. Thank goodness next friday is the last one.

The platter sounds beautiful. So it sounds as if you 3rd rounders will have another chance at the panel in six months. That's great. I wonder if us 2nd rounders will have another opportunity also.

So will you guys be getting some sort of itinerary? I'm curious to know where you'll be eating and what activities they may have you doing. I wonder if you'll be doing MVMCP on the 9th?

I'll be in and out this weekend. My kids are "taking" me shopping tomorrow because my birthday is Sunday.:) It will be interesting to see what they decide to buy me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TABITHA:cheer2:

Cold, What is Cold? It was 81 yesterday, we are still running our air conditioner.

Thanks! It was in the low 40's and I don't like the cold weather. One of these days I'm gonna have to move somewhere warmer.
It's funny we almost named dd Emma, but my cousin had her dd 3 months before and named her Emily. We thought that names were too similar. It worked out for the better though cuz I love the name Lillian.

Speaking of surprise trips, one of my favorite memories as a kid was a surprise disney trip. I don't remember how old I was at the time. My parents took my sister & I to a local mall and treated us to Friendly's for dinner. At the end of dinner, while eating our sundaes, they asked us if we wanted to go to disney world tomorrow. Of course we said yes and the next morning we drove to WDW. It was great. They hadn't really planned it either. I guess my dad had some time off and wanted to go some where.:)

Happy Birthday!!!!

No Lillian here. I have a Taylor and Reghan.

It is 40 degrees here. It was supposed to snow this morning but it didn't. I am not ready for snow yet. Even though we are skiers, I can wait until December! You poor things to have your a/c on still! I would take that! We lived in VA for a year and it was great, we still had the seasons ( I LOVE FALL!) but it was a little warmer climate!

Take care everyone!

Congratulations to all of you who made it as a finalist! I have been watching here every day since the Mom's Panel Contest started and am finally posting for the first time. I made it through the second round and unfortunately didn't make it any further. I am glad that I found people who feel the same way that I did about Walt Disney World! My last trip to Walt Disney World was September 28, 2007 and I already want (need) to go back! :yay:

Welcome!!!

Hope everyone is doing well on this nice WARM Sunday morning. Poohmom, so glad you held out on opening the gift. I'm sure it was enjoyed by all. Anymore contest yet? Just kidding, I think we all need to let our nerves and stomachs calm down before we do that again.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Tabitha!!! :woohoo:

That's a really neat memory! We are surprising our kids with the trip to DL later this week, but it's more out of necessity than anything else. DS 10 is autistic and has a huge fixation on Disney (LOL, don't we all). He loves everything about the parks, Mickey, etc. Once he knows we are going, he literally can't focus on anything else. They would get nothing out of him at school, and already the sp. ed. teachers have their work cut out for them with him, so it's really better if we just surprise him! Our last trip was this past January and it was a gift from my dad, and he wanted to tell the kids on Christmas that we were all going to WDW together in a couple weeks. I knew it would be hard for DS, but I wasn't going to deny my dad the chance for such a great gift on Christmas morning, so I let him tell them. According to DS's teachers, he was already mentally there, they didn't get much done in that couple weeks before we went, though he did kind of make up for it when we got back because he always comes back from Disney so clear and focused, it's amazing!

Tabitha, I hope you enjoyed your birthday today!

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone. It hasn't been a very good day. My dh dropped his wallet when he got out of the car last night while we were shopping and someone else found it. They used our debit card and two of the credit cards that were in there. So we were at the bank this morning (all morning) getting some of that straightened out. It was more of a pain than anything. I just kept thinking, I'm glad it was now and not closer to our trip. DH has promised to make it up to me very soon. I'm going to get a nice Relic watch from my kids. My ds told dh to get jewerly, something sparkly and I saw the watch so that's what they picked.

Welcome to the DIS magicalmouseadmirer. It is nice to meet another 2nd rounder.:)

Oh Tabitha, I'm so sorry, that really stinks! I had my bag stolen at WDW in January but luckily no one ever tried to use any of my accounts, I think they just enjoyed my cash and Disney Dollars. I'm glad you got it all taken care of at the bank. You might want to consider one of those credit monitoring services that will alert you if there have been any changes to your dh's credit report, like anyone making inquiries, if it wasn't him doing it, then that could signal someone trying to open accounts in his name. I'm not trying to scare you, but that's what we did with my name because the police officer in Florida told us to. Luckily it's been 10 months and nothing has come of it, but you never know.

Congratulations to everyone on the Panel!:dance3:

Oh, I'm so glad you have all been so prolific on this thread!! I've been swamped with a writing contract and haven't been able to do much more than check emails until today -- So much fun to catch up with you all tonight!!

I have to admit though, when I heard that my beloved Minnie Mouse actually *called* the finalists, I screamed. Seriously, I think I would've liked that more than the free trip... (My 40th birthday present from my DH was a suprise, private meeting with Miss Minnie in a VIP room. I totally freaked out and screamed in shock so loudly that I completely lost my voice for a couple of days!)

The platter sounds lovely too -- those folks at Disney really know how to make people feel special.

I can't wait to hear more about your adventures. I hope you aren't restricted too much in what you'll be able to tell us all. We're waiting here with baited breath :woohoo:

Good Morning Everyone,

Hope, everyone had a great weekend!!!
Still hot down here:sad2:

Tabitha- things have got to get better for you guys. I will say a prayer they do. What ever happen to HONESTY. Couldn't some just have looked up your phone # and given you guys a call that they had the wallet. If they really wanted the cash, then take it, but getting an new DL, and canceling credit cards, what a pain. This sort of thing really ticks me off, if I found a wallet the joy of seeing someone excited to get it back would make me feel like a hero. Okay guys, you are finally getting something from me that is not totally positive. I just hate (don't even like to saying that word) liars, cheats, and thieves. Enough on this.

On a more positive not, my best friend is having her baby today!!! I'll update you guys later.
Good day All,
Julie
Welcome to all our newbie's!!!:thumbsup2

Hi everyone,

I've been reading your posts ever since my telephone interview for the moms panel. I've never really been into online chatting, but I am very thankful I found your group. You got me through a really stressful week that seemed to last for months. I know you're all curious about the remaining panelist, so I want to drop a couple of lines and let you know that I made the panel. My name is Michelle and I have one daughter, Elizabeth, who is 2. So far I'm the only panelist I know of from NJ. My husband and I absolutely love WDW. My favorite memories of the park are; my dd getting her 1st haircut @ the Harmony Barber Shop, eating in the wine cellar of V&A, and running the marathon this past Jan. That's how I came up with the user name. In the running world, extremely slow runners call ourselves penguins.

I look forward to meeting Heather, Erin, Kim, Bret, ibelieveindreams, and my3boys, next month. I believe Disney will have more initiatives that include die-hard fans like all of you. I've been thinking about it and its seems that the moms panel will fill a niche similar to the customer review section on Amazon. Consumers want to hear opinions, good or bad. I'm hoping they rotate through people and give more folks like you a chance to chime in on resorts, food, rides, etc.

I wish you all well and thanks again for keeping me company over the past few weeks.

Michelle

So glad you joined us Michelle,

Congrats on making it to the panel, I'm sure Kim will add you to our list. You guys will have a great time next month. I'm jealous that I'm not going to get to hang with you all. Too bad we all can't come and cheer you guys on as you walk the parks. Like I said before we are the "fan club" :cheer2: (or the wannabe)s:rotfl2:
