Adoption Updates

I'm in, too, if anyone wants to swap squares!!

Sending you a PM, HBP...Hang in there!!

Brandie, your neice is just beautiful! I could just eat her right up!

HPB, you are feeling the same way so many of us did when the "prize" was so close at hand. I think it's the way that adoptive mothers get to feel the hormone rages that a pregnant woman feels.

Thank you!!! :goodvibes She is adorable, but she's quite the little stinker...lol

awww, what kind hearts. I am so going to adopt when I'm older! Perhaps a girl from Africa...

About this quilting exchange- do you guys know how to make a quilt? Is it hard? How did you learn? I would love to do this.

Julie

Well- we sent in our contract to our agency (and a huge chunk of money), and we've already got our state police and child abuse clearances back. We also have our fingerprint approval from USCIS so all we need is a homestudy and we can submit everything to USCIS again, and then Kazakhstan.

So we're on our way.

Anyone else who adopted from Kazakhstan traveled blind?

I don't know how to quilt, but my mom is helping me! Hope you can find someone to help you out! :)

Hi all,

I just found this thread today. I am not adopted or planning to adopt, but having a bad mommy day!! Your stories are so beautiful--I read through all 18 pages. I cried at many of them. I have never had to go through a roller coaster as long as all of you have had to (and are going) through. I give you all a ton of credit!!

I can't give yopu any advice--seeing that I have never been through this process (although once you bring home your sweet children, I am a wealth of parental knowledge gathered from my 5 kiddos), but I hope you do not mind me following all of you progresses during this time. You all are very inspirational and truely patient people.

Good luck everyone!!

Congratulations! I don't know anything about Kazakhstan adoption (except that a fellow DISer has the cutest little boy in her siggie and he's from Kazakhstan). How long will you have to wait for a referral?

Sandy- Hopefully once we get our paperwork in it will go fast. We're hoping to adopt an older pre-school or younger elementary aged boy, and our agency tells us that will make the process go quicker. We're not getting a referral, we're traveling blind- and will meet children there, look over their medicals, and decide. Technically, referrals are illegal in Kazakhstan. You can get one, but the government isn't bound to honor it. So if I get a referral for Boy M, and you get to the baby house before me and decide to adopt him, then too bad for me.

I think our longest wait will be for our homestudy since there's some confusion and lack of communication between the agency handling our adoption and the one doing our homestudy.

Julie
Kim-did you get my email?

Wow, I didn't know that is how it worked. I'd be a nervous wreck!! I hope the process zooms by for you guys.

On the China front, rec'd an email from my agency contact in Beijing this morning. She isn't expecting my Travel Approval to be even sent from China until the end of the month. :guilty: I'm trying REALLY hard to keep upbeat about this but it's just painful.

I hope everyone else is doing well in the adoption world. :)

Hugs,
MaryAnn

At least they're saying the end of the month! Hang in there...

Just wanted to wish all of you a very happy mother's day!! For those of us still waiting...here's hoping that we'll all have our little ones attempting to make us a yummy (?) mother's day breakfast before long!! :)

I wanted to stop by and say Happy Mother's Day to you guys - even though they're not with you now, you're still their moms. I follow along and I can't wait to see happy endings!

Hey guys

Thanks for the PM's about my post regarding needing an adoption attorney. I'm having agency problems, but I've retained someone and I think all is going to be well. I'm writing a post about it but haven't finished, I just wanted to post a quick update. I'm exhausted, this has not been a good weekend.

Will catch up soon.

Thanks again, you guys are the best. I hope everyone else is doing well, any news to report?

Maryann
