Adoption Updates

but we're going to adopt from Guatemala, not Kazakhstan. We decided it would just be better for our family- with three kids already (one only home from China for 4 months now)- there's not way to be away for so long, especially while homeschooling.
We just turned in our paperwork for our homestudy, hopefully they'll whip it out pretty fast (our China agency is doing it, and they know us so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

HBP- what's up with you? Our friend got her TA about a week ago- she was DTC in September, but switched to SN recently, some time in the winter. Is your agency messed up, or what? We'll be praying for you and sending pixie dust your way.

Julie

Any updates anyone???

We think that we'll have the money in our savings account by mid-fall/early-winter!! Once that application is filed and we're knee-deep in the paperchase...look out stores-that-sell-cute-adorable-can't-live-without-girl clothes!!!

Maryann, I hope all is well and that Lily is home or on her way soon :)

Has anyone spoken with her lately? We've been praying and hoping for the best.

I haven't heard from her...my heart is breaking for her though...

Maryann - I'm been keeping up with your story. Prayers and pixie dust coming to you and Lily, both.

On our adoption front... I should have my baby girl home with me by the beginning of next week. It's all quite overwhelming and amazing to me. We've waited so long for this and now that it's around the corner I'm just a mess! :teeth:

Our amazing birthmother is due on the 24th, but because she's teeny tiny and young her doctor doesn't want her to go over her due date. That means they might induce later this week like Thursdy or Friday! Eeekkk! :sunny:

Good luck to all you other mama's in waiting..... I feel ya. :sunny:

Emily, I have been wondering about you! I'm so excited for you! :woohoo: Please, Please, Please come back here and tell us when you get her! I'd love to read your story of you getting her!! :goodvibes

Hi all..Just found this thread...too busy on the trip planning boards :goodvibes
We have been foster parents to a little girl on and off for the past 4 years(more on than off!). She came to us when she was 10 months old.
We have 3 bio children and never intended to adopt, but
I guess someone else had different plans!! Both her bio parents have finally signed off and we are going to adopt!! Finally got the date..July 27. Took a long, long time and a wonderful social worker to make it happen.
Good luck to all of you!!
Kerri

I love this thread. I'm not in the process of adopting now, but I've got two daughters who were adopted from China. They are now 5 and 8 years old. I just got back from a three week trip to China, and I found myself thinking very dangerous thoughts about #3 every time I saw a little girl. However, two are my limit!

Best wishes to all who are in the process! Adoption is a wonderful way to build a family.

Welcome to our "club" Kerri and Pigeon!

Congratulations on your pending adoption, Kerri. I'm sure July 27th can't get here soon enough for you!

I hear you that 2 is enough Pigeon. We had to make a tough decision about extra siblings that were born after our adoption. We definitely made the right decision for us. We like our family of 4.

I hope all is going well for Maryann and that she posts with wonderful news very soon.

I found this online and thought I would share. This site has over a thousand different adoption phrases, sayings, etc and you can get it imprinted on tshirts, totes, bumper stickers, baby clothes, etc.

This, I think, sums it up perfectly:

I know I get this question all the time. I just have to try and find it for Kazakhstan

Sorry if you are already aware of this site... I haven't seen it before

The links didn't work for me! I did do a search and found some of the stuff though. Very cool!

My heart is breaking for my friend right now. She lost her 8 month old baby girl Sunday. They believe that she suffocated on her blanket during a nap. How on earth do you get through something like this?

Thanks for the links, Kim. Although it didn't get me to what was intended, I searched Russian Adoption and came up with a Baboushka and a Dyadoushka t-shirt for each of my parents. Their birthdays are in September. These will be perfect for them since my kids call them that instead of Grandma and Grandpa.

Brandi, my heart breaks for your friends. I hope they can find the strength TOGETHER to get through this tragedy. They're in my prayers today.

I am a mom of two not adopted girls, however, I have always loved the idea of adopting a child. As a young girl I babysat for a family who had adopted a son. I always thought how lucky this family and child were! Then later in life when I was 20, I was at the airpor to pick up a friend. As I waited for his flight to come in I witnessed something that will stay with me forever!!!

Off to the side of the terminal I saw 8 families with empty baby carriers and balloons. they all looked very excited. Soon after, 8 Asian women carried 8 BEAUTIFUL babies out of the terminal and into the loving arms of their new parents. I watched through my own tears as these "parents" where handed their children. I will never forget that day! :teeth:

Good luck to all of you who are waiting to feel tiny hugs!!!

Oh no, how horrible. :( I don't know how you get through something like losing a child, the people who have done so and survived awe me for their strength. :grouphug:

I am WAY behind in my quilt squares and I promise I will get them out, I'm sorry. I just don't want anyone to think I forgot or was just intentionally not sending them out. I'm behind, as always.

DH and I have our first homestudy visit tonight with our social worker. We are adopting a child from South Korea. I posted about our decision earlier in the week but now that I see this thread I wanted to pop on in and say "HI". I am nervous as can be about our visit tonight.

Take a deep breath and relax. Although it feels like they are looking for a way to deny you a child, the social worker really wants this to work out for you and the little one.

Congratulations on your decision to adopt. I hope everything is smooth sailing for you, even though days will seem to pass like months during the process.
