Currently own 200 points at SSR, if I would like to buy another contract thru Disney ( I know I'd have to get on a waitlist) for VWL or BCV or BWV would I pay an additional 10% down for that contract? Does anyone know the current price per point and dues for those resorts?

Minimum purchase for other DVC resorts is 25 points at $84 per point. If you want Disney financing, the minimum is 50 points. I think MB is still available for purchase of 100 points or more.

Normal downpayment requirements are in place for Disney financing (10% down).

Enjoy!

Annual dues for 2003 at each resort are as follows:

Old Key West - $3.49
Hilton Head - $3.69
Beach Club Villas - $3.97
Wilderness Lodge - $4.05
Boardwalk Villas - $4.10
Vero Beach - $4.37

Magical Beginnings (MB) is an incentive program where DVC "buys back" your first year's points at a set price (most recently $10 per point- but as low as $5 and as high as $15). You will still pay prorated maintenance fees on the points. The incentive effectively lowers the purchase price by the amount of the incentive (purchase 200 points- get a $2000 incentive- purchase 150 points get a $1500 incentive).

With MB, the points from the current Use Year are usually what is offered (right now it would probably be June, 2003 Use Year) so you would still get more points to use (or borrow) in June, 2004.

If it's still in effect (I think it is), it can lower your deposit or total price by that amount.

Enjoy!

by "selling back your points" can you still borrow to go on a trip that year? EX: If I had Jan 2004 use year with MB technically I wouldn't have points until Jan 2005 but if I wanted to travel in Nov 2004 could I still borrow 2005 points?
Is there a time of year where this type of deal would be better, as far as maintenance fee prorated and all that?

MB is usually offered on Use Years that can still be banked. Points may always be borrowed from the next year, so you'd be fine with youru example (except that there is no January Use Year).

All annual fees are based on the calendar year - regardless of Use Year. A purchase now might have a June Use Year, but dues would be prorated from today until the end of the year (about 6 weeks dues).

Enjoy!

Stephanie-

Here is how it worked out for us on our MB when we did the BCV addon.

Purchased a Jun UY for BCV. That technically bought Jun 2003 points. Sold the 03 points back under the MB program. In Jun 2004 the new year's points become available to use. Thinking about Nov 04 right now!

Also, with only 10% down, the interest rate rises to 10.75% instead of 9.75%. Not a huge amount of additional cost every month, but it is my money!
