Adding a day to tickets questions

We currently have 6 day hoppers. We are now thinking we’d like to add a day so that we can visit on arrival day.

How does this work?

Can we do this in advance?

If we have to wait until arriving on property how does it work with FP? I’ve read that you need to wait until you use a day before you can add (unless you purchased the tickets as part of a package, which we didn’t).

if we book FP for 6 days in advance, starting with our first full day, how does that affect our departure day FPs once we use the first of our original 6 on arrival day? Once we use that day, we will then technically have a 5 day ticket until we add the extra day.

Sorry if that’s confusing.

Not confusing.
From whom did you buy your tickets?
Are they part of a WDW resort package?
What are the dates of your trip?

Thanks
They were purchased from Disney, but not part of a package. We used the discount we get through our company.

1. Can we do this in advance?

1. You should be able to do so.
First, make sure that you have connected your tickets to your MyDisneyExperience (MDX) account.
Open your MDX account and click on "Tickets & Memory Maker" choice
It's a very small title. (See my screen shot below.)
Then, carefully follow the various choices to add your day and change the start-date.

2. Well, if that happens, you won't be able to book FP in advance for that first day until after you add that day.
3. That much is incorrect.
4. That should not an issue unless in your case.

I spoke with Disney and they gave me the same instructions. There is no option, once there, to change the ticket.

They tried doing it over the phone and the price to add one day was $168 (basically they took the discounted price I paid for the 6 day tickets and applied it towards the full price 7 day ticket). Obviously I passed on that option.

He then put me on hold for about 20 minutes and came back and said it can only be done once on property, by guest services, to be able to maintain the discount pricing.

The tickets were purchased through disneyworld.com, but he said because a corporate discount was used, I couldn't add another day in advance. Seems like it should be able to be done, but maybe not?

I'd say that you could... BUT,
Because you bought via a method that I know nothing about, I can't offer anything, one way or the other.
I have no idea the method used by the folks who arranged the "corporate discount."
Regardless-
After you arrive at WDW, go to any Guest Relations and ask to add the day.
Once done, you can book FPs for that added day.
