Acapulco Information

I answered you in a PM,

Last time I went, well, the only thing I can tell you is...sand is no good friend for a rider.

Can I ask you about Continental Emporio hotel or the Alba suites?

We are looking for a place to go with the kids for the day,we have seen they have a few pools & just wondering what your take is on these hotels?

Thank You for any information you might have!

I always recommend the Hyatt, it's a bit farther away, but the hotel allows you to use their facilities (pool, bars, etc), so long as you order drinks or have lunch. it has ocean side property for water sports and a small swell for swimming.

The Continental does allow day use visitors, but I have never sent any one there and alba suites has no ocean side property just a good view of the ship.

At the Continental I had lunch a few weeks ago, in a japanese type of restaurant and was disgusted by a hair in my meal. Yuck, never went back for lunch and they argued it was from a mesh net they put on the sliced lemon.

hope the info helps.

Hi Roberto! Please help. There are a bunch of us who have booked the coco loco beach break excursion. We are having second thoughts becuase of issues over the safety of the water in the ocean. What are your thoughts on this.

Secondly, we have heard great things about the Fairmont Princess as an alternative for a day stay. You mentioned in April/May that you believed you could obtain a day pass. I have e-mailed the hotel, but have not gotten a response. How would we go about doing that? Would we book it ahead of time, or just hope they would sell us one after taking the taxi ride over? I remember you mentioning that is wasn't a cheap fare.

TIA for taking the time to answer my questions. I know that there are about a dozen people that are having trouble with deciding what to do with children when we visit Acapulco. I would really feel better swimming in a nice pool for the day!

Hello, do you know anything more about the state of Cici water park,my familiy are doing the dolphin swim there? Thank you

I just called the hotel, and they told me that they have a $350 Pesos (about 32 USD) day use fee (kids 50% off) this allows you to use the pool, lounge charis, etc.(meals are not included) The place is awesome and well worth the visit, but, it's way to expensive for my taste. A cab will charge you about $35 USd each way. Here's there email so you can contact them directly:

aca.subgerentes@fairmont.com

I recommend the Hyatt for a day at the pool, much closer and they allow cruise visitors to use their facilities, only have drinks or lunch. It' nice and clean.

The ocean in Acapulco is usually quite rough and dirty,at the Princess the swell is only good for surfing, not much for swimming and a strong under tow current.

At the Hyatt it's much calmer and much, much cheaper. A cab will charge about $12 USD each way

You are so great! Thank you for calling them. I will contact them. I think we would prefer to do that for the day. The $ will end up being the same as the excursion. Would the taxi fare be the same for 4 adults and 2 kids, or would we have to pay more? Sorry for the multiple questions, but, you are too good a resource to not ask!!!

I planned to go when I was on vacations, but it rained every day. Last time I went it was a bit out of shape, but, remember there are no goverment guide lines for these type of water parks in Mexico. I can recall the cement was cracked, many of the chairs where in bad condition and very little shade.

You can email the operations staff of the park and ask for current conditions and a few pics of the place so you can decide to go or not.

mortega@cie.com.mx

I am currently swamped at work and unless a miracle happens, I won't be able to visit the park in the near future. (desperatley need an assistant)

Sorry I couldn't visit the place in time to provide useful insight.

All of the people you can fit into a a sedan, I think you will require a suburban or van and may be 5 or 7USD more.

Thank You Roberto!

Your wealth of information has been invaluable to my family while planning our stop in Acapulco! So, from what you stated about the Hyatt am I to assume that there is no "charge" for using their pools & beach other than buying a bite to eat & a drink or two?

Again, thank you for taking the time to answer my questions!!

Roberto,
I'm part of the group above and am booked on the Disney Excursion Family Day at the Beach - Coco Loco Beach Club. We haven't heard back from the hotel about paying the extra money to use the pool. Do you think as long as they are not crowded we could just pay the extra when we arrive at the beach? Also, I think I may have misunderstood something else you said. When you called the hotel were you told cruise passengers could go to the Princess on their own and obtain a day pass to use the pool? I'm the grandmother of the group and not quite as adventurous as the younger members. If we decide to go to the Hyatt will it be easy for us to figure out safe transportation. I had wanted to see the cliff divers originally but that excursion was full. Thanks again for all your help and can't wait at least to see you standing on the pier.

If you're already on the DCL excursion, that uses the hotel; I think the use of facilities is included, only if you make your own arrangments would you have to pay extra to use the pool.

And yes, as long as they are not crowded; they will allow you to use the pool, just arrive to the concierge's desk to sign up. Either at the Princess (paying a day use fee) or the Hyatt (having drinks), on another note, yes, the Hyatt is much closer.

Another thing, you can go to the divers on your own, it has a huge terrace and I don't think the entire ship willl be there at the same time, so you should be ok.The driver ussually assists with getting a table and getting you there on time.

Hope the info helps

Roberto.

Let me first join the others in thanking you for taking the time to provide your insight. We have decided to take a day room at the Camino Real Acapulco Diamante. Three questions - do you know anything about the property? What would the best way be for a party of six to get there and back, and about how long should it take.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Roberto,

How's the water out at La Roqueta Island?
Safe enough to go snorkeling in without getting sick?
Is it clear (good visibility)?

Thanks

Camino real is a beautiful resort located on theower area of the scenic road that leads to Puerto Marques, (ask the driver to stop at the mirador) I have only been to the bar, but heard from good friends it's awesome and great to relax since it's secluded and very exclusive.

It takes about 25 to 35 minutes t get ther and a cab should charge about 25 USd each way.

Hope the info helps.

Roberto, it's me, your Ship of Fools gift exchangee. I am going on the rafting excursion and we leave from the pier at 8:30. Will there be enough time to do the gift exchange before my excursion, or should we wait until after?

Acapulco is not well known for snorkeling, the waters are murky on a regular basis, strong current in smoe places and not much to see (volcanic rocks, sea urchins few tropical fish) It really depends if it rained the day before, cause there is a lot of tree debri and garbage in the water.

I went snorkeling last year and we had a good time, just swimming around...very little swell in the island. we prefered to just float around taking some rays. Then, tried taking underwater pics and the urhcins I shot had to be less than a foot away.

If you snorkeled in the caribbean, you may be quite dissapointed in Acapulco.
