Here's the situation, DH and I are bringing his parents and my mother to WDW with us in Feb. What kind of access to the bathroom does the person sleeping in the living room have? Do they have to go through a bedroom? We were planning on staying at OKW but are open to any resort. Being our "first" trip using our points (used developers points this year) we are being selfish and are taking the master for ourselves. Putting his parents in the 2nd bedroom and my mom on the pull out (she is completely fine with this). I just think it would be awkward if she has to go through a bedroom in the middle of the night just to use the bathroom. So I guess my question is... do any of the resorts have a bathroom directly off the living room?
I'm trying to avoid wasting so many points on a grand villa for just the 5 of us!

Thanks!

If all the DVC floor plans are basiclly the same and I'm pretty sure they are then you will have no problems. The person who sleeps in the living room will have access to the master toilet and shower through seperate doors. Just remember to close the door that connects with the master bedroom. You can find floor plans at the DVC website as well as the WDW website. Sorry if my spelling is off tonight I just can't seem to focus. :flower:

Take a look at this layout of an OKW 2BR:

At OKW, only buildings 30 and up have a second access to the master bathroom. Buildings 29 and below only have access through the master bedroom. The other resorts have 2 doors in all rooms.

The above OKW floor plan is for buildings below 30. If you need an extra access to the toilet/shower area of the master, the buildings 30 and up have a door into that section through the laundry room.

So unless you think you will get a request at OKW to be assigned to a building numbered 30 or higher, consider another resort.

Best wishes -

If you decide to go to OKW, just put it as part of oyur request that you want a unit where the bathroom has an entrance from the hall as well as through the MBR, because you will have someone sleeping on the livingroom couch, and they would feel uncomfortable goin through the MBR to get to the bathroom. I have made that request and it has always been honored.

Ok this now has me worried. We will need a first floor room as well since my MIL will have an ECV. We do not need a handicap room as she just can not walk for long distances. We own at SSR so we will be booking at the 7 mo. window for everywhere else.

As I figure it right now my requests would be a

2 bedroom
First floor (due to having a ECV)
Non-smoking (asthma)
In a building above #30

or a

2 bedroom
Non smoking (asthma)
In buildings #62, 63, or 64

So would I be better off looking elsewhere? We will be there the week before Pres. Day so hopefully it won't be busy (yet).

First of all, 2 bedroom is NOT a request...it is what you would reserve. Your requests should be:

non-smoking for medical reasons
ECV accessible (this does not have to be a 1st floor, because you could get an elevator building.)
2nd door to master bath.

I would put them in that order, because I see that as the order of importance. You might think the order should be different. For what it's worth, I would probably not worry about the ECV accessible room unless your MIL is unable to do steps at all. When we have had trips where an ECV was needed, I didn't put in any request like that. I mearly told them at check in. They were very accommodating at finding us a 2 bedroom that would work for the non-smoking AND the ECV. Once we were assigned a 1st floor room and twice we were assigned an elevator building. If she is able to walk at all, a second floor non-elelvator building would work too, because there is an area at Hostpitality House to plug in the ECV too.
