I know that the AAA has a code for a package when we are planning a grand gathering for our family. My question is I have always made room only reservations and I really have no idea if the code with a base ticket is really less expensive. We will want to have park hopping on our pass and there may a few who would use the water park feature. I can only seem to get the rack rate on the disney site so I am not being able to get the info to make a well informed decision. I know that everyone here is in the know so Please Help Me!!!! My sister her, husband ,nieces and nephew thank you all.

AAA doesnt discount the package. They discount the room. If you book through them, they can utilize this discount in a package. A package is just the sum of the parts. A regular uncoded package is just rack rate room, full price tickets (plus dining if you decide to add that). There is no discount or deal because of it being a package..other than some odd little things like planet hollywood coupon etc and stricter rules. AAA has worked out a ta type deal where if you book with them you can receive their discounted room as part of a package. Does that make sense...just wanted to explain as most people see the discount amounts and expect that off the package till they learn better...it is only off the room portion of your package...the rest is full price as it would be if you booked through disney. (room only's can be booked at either aaa or disney)

Discounts
Value and moderate resorts are 20% off in value season, 15% off in regular, summer, peak
Delux resorts are 15% off in value season, 10% off in regular summer and peak

Notice that Holiday (Christmas) season isnt included. These numbers I got off mousesavers.com which states Holiday isnt usually discounted with aaa.

Discounts are limited.

Does that help any? You can figure out what it should be by looking at Disneyworld.com and checking the rates then adding it up with the appropriate discount. You can get a quote from a AAA agent and compare. Make sure they aren't auto including anything you dont want (including hoppers and water parks at least some of the time as well as sometimes an upper room category and insurance).

Many have reported the rep telling them a higher rate than they should get even higher than Disney. SO if they tell you something you dont like call another aaa office. You do not have to use your local office.

I got a quote from Disney for CR, Tower, MK view November 25-Dec. 1. For 2 adults and 2 kids. The package with regular hopper tickets, no water park feature, was $4250. I asked about AAA discount and told it applied to room only. So I had them price it separately. With the AAA discount on the room, plus the tickets, it was way more than the package price and DIDN'T include dining since you can't get it without a package. Then I called AAA direct. I got a price of $3850 for the package with everything. So I saved $400 on the package price by calling them direct.

Here is what I found out from CRO, they are confused. I found the code for AAA and they have 2 one without dinning and one with dinning. The pass would be a hopper plus more with 14 day expiration. I found the prices for the 6 day hopper plus on Ticketmania and it is still cheaper to do the room only with AAA and get the pass thru Ticketmania or another discount ticket broker. So... the code really isn't much of a deal. I figured I would be saving $100.00 for all of us which is that much but I would have to convert to a package and than buy the insurance for my own peace of mind. I'll just keep my room only and then get the pass later. I hope that my sister appreciates this. I hope it is one GRAND GATHERING!!!!!

to reitterate Disney (CRO) Can Not book a aaa package for you. You would have to get that from AAA. aaa deals just arent the same kind of codes you are referring too. If you are not getting dining therefor no need for a package it would indeed be cheaper to get your tickets elsewhere and go ahead with the room only reservation. By the way have you checked out mousesavers.com? They have a link in their monthly newsletter (free) that gets you an extra few dollars off prices at undercovertourist.com (I think that's the place). It comes out the 15th of the month. undercovertourist.com's prices are complete - there is no tax or shipping added on to them.

I'm not sure the following has any use to you but I thought I would add it just incase.

Room only reservations can not be converted into a package. They must be cancelled and rebooked. Any refundable money will not follow throught to the new reservation but instead will be refunded to you and you will have to make new depsits. Rebooking can be that much more problematic when you are talking about aaa discount booked with cro where you would then have to cancel and rebook with aaa to get a package. Theoretically you could lose your discount if not your room if you do this due to the resort filling up and someone snagging your room while you are in the process. If you find the need to do this book the new room before canceling the old.

Remember there is no dining plan available without a package that includes a room and tickets.

Tickets can be purchased all the same even 1 day base tickets and upgraded as needed at the parks. Since different people seem to need different things it may make your life easier to order everyone the same then let the other's upgrade to what they want. Especially things like hoppers and water parks as those are set prices.
