AAA vs. booking directly thru Disney

We are planning on going Sept 09 and hopefully getting free dining. Is there any reason to book through AAA instead of directly calling Disney to book? I was going to book through Disney with our AAA room only rate. I figure once the free dining becomes available, if it does, that is the only discount we'd be getting, so is there any reason I should book through AAA? I'd rather go direct through Disney but if there's some benefit of going through AAA, please let me know!! Thanks!

Hi!

I am going to Disney 12/5 thru 12/13 and staying at ASMo. I compared the identical trip booked thru AAA vs direct thru Disney. AAA was about $150 cheaper than going direct thru Disney. :)

I was wondering the same thing about the AAA discount. We originally had a package booked through Disney with the GP fall code, but I just yesterday received a PIN for the extended free dining. I was wondering if I could get a AAA discount along with the dining? -Kelly

No, only one discount. The only benefit of booking with AAA for free dining is the AAA perks like the parking pass and discount card and the storytime, etc, etc

My agent never told me about the parking pass or discount card??? I guess I need to call her to find out about that eh :confused3
My agent told me if another code came out that would benefit me more than the AAA discount she'd have it changed. So I don't think it really matters other than you won't be able to change anything yourself so if that's bothersome than I'd just go it on your own.

Thanks! That's exactly what I was wondering, so now I know I can just book myself since we don't need the parking pass or storytime, etc.

Can you still make a specific room request?? For example we are currently booked at poly and I have requested top floor at a specific longhouse. I know its only a request and not a guarantee, but I have heard that Disney will make every attempt to satify a request if they can. Can I also make the same type of request when booking with AAA??

Those who get a better price on a package with AAA vs Disney directly is due to AAA discount vs. Rack rate.

If you have a PIN or use a general available code, or ap rate, then it would cost you EXACTLY the same booking via AAA or Disney.

One caveat is insurance. With AAA you can get their insurance or Disney's, and AAA is a little cheaper (not much though).

Yep...I made a room request and I'm booked through AAA.

Are people not asking the Disney operator about the AAA rate, or is there an additional discount by going through AAA directly. Every time I have booked through Disney directly, I have just told them I have AAA, and have gotten the discount. I just did this, and want to make sure I am getting the same deal! Thanks!

Thank you Mom2PrincessJ for that information. I thought so but figured I'd check with the DisBoard experts :lmao:

In response to your comment Cjnix29...We currently have a reservation for next April at the Poly and when I made the reservation, was told no AAA rooms were available for my dates (4-19 to 4-25). Have called back a few times and still no AAA rate for my dates. I recently checked the AAA website and they have rooms at the Poly at the discounted rate for my dates, so looks like I'll cancel the one with Disney and make one with AAA. This will save me almost $250!! Woo Hoo!!

You can get a AAA room only through disney. If you want a package or the DDP you have to book through a AAA agent
