AA changed our schedule - will they charge us to switch flights?

The original schedule gave us just over 1 hour to change planes in Dallas. They moved the first flight later and the second flight earlier so we now have about 40 minutes between flights. With 4 kids (one in a carseat), I'm worried that we are going to miss our second flight. There's another flight that is one hour later and still has plenty of seats available.

Does anyone know if AA will let us switch flights without charging us, since they changed the schedule?

I've this happen to me---the airline changed their schedule and rebooked me at a different time, then my connecting flight was waaaaaay later, but on-line I could see a better time. So I called, said they changed my flight, and could I please be booked on the flight I wanted instead. No problems to do this, and of course no charge. It wasn't with AA, but USAir.

I'm sure they will. It helps if you pick out alternate flights of your choice, they should let you change to another available flight you want at no charge even if you are flying on a MileSAAver or NetSAAver award or a deep discount ticket.

Feel free to ask for a supervisor if the ticket agent on the phone does not seem to understand you or doesn't want to give you what you want. No yelling please.

Delta just did that to me this week, didn't even give any kind of notice. I called and they changed it at no charge :thumbsup2

You should be good to go ! :cool1: :cool1:

Good luck and have a WONDERFUL / MAGICAL TRIP :tink:

Just an update, I called and it wasn't a problem.
They said they could do a one-time courtesy change with no charge.

We had major changes in our flights with AA in Feb. and with Delta in April.

AA has us leaving 2 hours earlier from home and arriving at the same time. I haven't changed this one yet, but will because we have a 3 hour layover now in ORD. Then they had us leaving MCO 5 hours earlier. This I told them was not acceptable since it ruined our entire last day of vacation. I was able to get flights 2 hours earlier and arriving home also 2 hours earlier. Since the flight times were actually better and we received an upgrade, I took it. When I called the agent was wonderful. He didn't question anything and didn't even act like he was doing me a favor.

Our departing Delta flight leaves earlier and gets us to Florida earlier so I wasn't concerned. However, the seats I booked in the front of the plane were changed all the way to the back of the plane. I called and asked for seats toward the front, and she said she changed them, but they aren't showing that way on the reservation yet. I'll have to keep on them because I'll be 8 months pregnant and do not want to sit on the plane any longer than need be.
