A warning about re-usable mugs!

Well, they are certainly losing the money they would have made if people bought new mugs....
Well since the all the resort counter service locations are selling the same generic mug design that means guests can use their mugs at other resorts, if they were just visiting them or on split stays so they don't need to purchase the same design on that specific vacation. So if WDW was lossing money wouldn't they have kept the resort logo mugs which did not allow guests to use those mugs at other resorts, even though that rule always got broken since it was never enforced.

We leave in less than two weeks, I will make sure when we pack them for the trip home we remove the lids because we will be bringing them back next year. :thumbsup2

It's probably a good idea to put something in them (like maybe socks) so if your suitcase gets squished or banged around they are less likely to crack.

And if Disney doesn't care, I don't understand why so many other people seem to.

I'm wondering the same thing.Me personally I don't care if people re-use them or not.In fact I've been using the same mug for 3 years now.

It seems this could be an okay convo if the OP was going HOME with her mugs. Then, maybe we would read the topic for what it was.

I left my mug on top of my car (I re-used it daily for work). As I turned the corner to pull out of the driveway, it fell. The top cracked. I would say they are not too sturdy.

We have the YOMD mugs. One has a black handle, one blue (I think). I have two different ones from the same trip.

Thanks for the advice OP. I'll remember that for my trip home.

Anything you check in on an airline has a risk of getting damaged or lost. Maybe carry the mugs if they are important to someone.

Does anyone remember when the mugs used to be less than $12.00 and the size of a BIG GULP???? Now, they are $13.00??? and the a meezly 12 oz.:surfweb:

what do the current mugs look like?

So, you were on your way TO Disney with refillable mugs?

Doesn't say squat. I know, I know, it's a heated topic whenever something even hints of reusing of mugs on multiple trips. But bringing the mug back to WDW doesn't say all. I always bring back at least one mug. Not because I'm cheap.:lmao: I always buy a new mug, but also am a lazy doll. Read; be nice and pay for the use of the beverage station but instead of making 2 refill trips, I refill both the new and old mug for me to use and save me a trip.

Having said that; I always pack my mugs with the lids off. You can get a lot more into your suitcase by doing that. Small things like socks, travelsize stuff etc. can be stored within the mug, while the lid can be stored seperately without hardly taking any space up. Always works better for me. TSA has let me keep the lids, if that says anything. :rotfl::rotfl2:

A little off topic, but same problem.....

My wife and i went to see the mouse in August. When opening our luggage, we found all of our belongings covered with suntan lotion, sunblock, and other liquids. We had all of these items in gallon sized ziplocked bags, and they were sealed tight. We also found our prescription bottles open and some of our pills mixed in with the suntan lotion. To top it off, we had a calling card from the TSA saying they inspected our bags. Needless to say we were not happy.

Now, we use Owners Locker, all of our lotions are tucked away safely, and we'll actually have clean clothes when we open our luggage whether TSA inspects us or not! We know that when we get our OL, all things will be in great condition, and that our belongings have been handled with care and respect!

So, for those that go the mouse often, you may want to consider this option :thumbsup2

I have traveled back and forth to FL (4 times by plane this year) with mugs with the tops on in my luggage and they have arrived there and back in one piece each of the flights.

To the OP, thanks for letting us know. I'll be sure to pack my re-used refillable mug differently in less than two weeks. :cool1:

To the rest of you, calm the heck down! Go catch some jaywalkers if you need something to do. At least then you'll get some fresh air

I was returning from a convention in FL. I had an empty travel mug in my carry-on. They emptied the bag, and pulled out the mug and turned it over to see that there was no LIQUID in the mug.
