A Two Short, Too Different Spring Break Trip (Time to Say Goodbye)

:lmao: at the Coke moment! I get teased all the time for drinking "pop" instead of soda!

I know what you mean about annoying, insignificant questions related to the wedding. My brother got married last summer and we had an ajoining room with my parents. I don't think I can count the number of those questions I was asked!

It looks like she did great at the rehearsal! I can't wait to see how the ceremony went too!

Oh and MeMom/Jill.... when I woke up at 1AM to go potty, my first thought was about the surprise. :)

If we had had an adjoining room with John's mom I would have switched hotels. John's dad is great but his mom is drama all the time! We had told her two times at breakfast that her khaki capris and black top were fine for the rehearsal then after heading to the room she kept walking down to our room and asking what I thought "was I sure this was okay?" If you want to get an image of my mother in law picture Marie Barone from Everybody Loves Raymond. That's her! She did really well listening at the rehearsal and following directions. I was a little concerned since I was in charge and you know sometimes kids listen to strangers better than their parents. Potty at 1 am seems like I was doing that not so long ago, now it's feeding at 3 am!

The food at the Cantina is always so yummy! Love all your pictures from Mexico -- it is always so fun and colorful there!

:rotfl: about the lizard and the truck!!! I love it!!!

Jill, Brooklyn is so cute at the rehearsal, sitting on the steps and listening to instructions. My parents lived in Cleveland for a few years after I moved to Atlanta, and I remember only too well how cold it could be there in the summer compared to our southern temps!

The picture of John and Brooklynn getting ready to go down the aisle is awesome.

Jill,

Thanks for the mini trip report. It looks like a great weekend, and I am sure you were pretty tired when it was over. Brooklynn was beautiful in her flower girl dress. You had a good idea to get a new movie for Brooklynn so that you could get her hair curled. You did a great job with it, her hair looks really pretty. I love the pictures of Brooklynn in front of the rhino. What a difference two years makes!

MeMom, I really tried to take some good pictures on the Grand Fiesta tour but ended up deleting most. Yours were awesome. "The Lizard that Ate Germany" was giggle worthy! You find the best photo ops!

Jill, It looks like you did well putting up with the in-laws. I'm so glad that your mother isn't like that.....:goodvibes
I'm glad the rehearsal dinner was good but sorry you all froze, hate to think of everybody being cold...:sad2: Poor little Bella!
Did you use an entire can of hairspray on Brooklynn? I can't believe how well that curl stayed in her hair! She looked adorable. Did you get a picture of her petal dumping out in the lobby?

Almost a whole can of hairspray. I kept the curling iron plugged up and just every so often would recurl and spray. I didn't get a picture of her petal dumping. The photographer did though. I was too busy trying to scrounge up something for her to eat since we had eaten breakfast at 8:00 and it was 3:15 when the wedding was over. Most adults can't go that long without eating and not get cranky so the fact that she was just starting to get ill and whiny was a miracle plus she is used to a two hour nap in the afternoon and that didn't happen on Friday (only 30 minutes) or Saturday. I had fruit snacks in my diaper bag and one of those little packets that you add to a bottle of water. That held her over until the reception.

We didn't go in and sit down, but we did listen to Davy Jones sing a couple of songs.

disney3-18-09AKEpcot367.jpg

awwww, I had the biggest crush on Davy Jones when I was little!! I used to love to watch The Monkee's and then seeing him on The Brady Bunch....:rotfl:
How funny seeing him in re-runs and liking him!!

Jill, thank you for sharing the mini-wedding report!! Brooklyn looks like a little princess in her dress and curls in her hair!!

Haha...yeah we call it pop here and always laugh on our drive down as it turns to soda or coke.

AW! Brookie looks so cute all dressed up!

She looked so adorable Jill! I love all those curls! Bella's dress is totally cute too!

Like I said, we just did the family wedding thing last summer and to get the kids looking at the camera AND the sdults smiling was a real challenge. The only family pic that ended up turning out has Liam sitting in a stroller near the altar. :lmao:

So when I left off the wedding was over and we were reception bound - sort of. I will take the time to say this - Communication was NOT the theme of this wedding. John's brother-in-law Randy was an usher. Want to know when he found out - at the rehearsal when he saw it written on the program! Seriously! John had to give a toast as the best man. His brother did not tell him until Thursday. Giving toasts may be common at weddings in Ohio however we didn't do them at ours nor did John's sister do it at her's. The rehearsal time changed 3 different times in a 24 hour period. I say that to say this at the rehearsal John overheard Jonie (the bride) saying something to Jason (the groom) about pictures at the garden with the bridal party. John came and inquired if I knew anything about it and I said no. So he asked Jason and Jason confirmed that yes before the reception that the bridal party would be taking pictures at the Kingwood Center. That's fine just wish we had known. So we drive to the Kingwood Center and Brooklynn has fallen asleep in her car seat. Luckily we are told they only want the big people not the little guys. They are lucky they mentioned that before I woke her up. It is 4:45 the reception is 15 minutes away and scheduled to start at 5:30. I assume because of the small time they didn't want the little guys running around. I stay in the car because both girls are asleep. About 2 minutes after John heads to the garden Bella wakes up screaming and remember I don't have a paci! I get her out of her carseat and walk outside with her for 20 minutes. Still no sign of John and she is not calming down. I decide to go ahead and try and feed her because she hasn't really nursed well all day - too much commotion, mommy was in a dress (not super conducive to feeding, etc.) She eats and still no John. I took out Brooklynn's DVD player and put in Season 4 of the Office. Near the end of the second episode I see John coming in the distance. It is now 6:00, 30 minutes after the reception is scheduled to start. I put Bella in the car seat and we head to the reception. We finally arrive and I quickly change a very sleepy Brooklynn back into her flower girl dress and head inside. Luckily the food was ready (and not surprising - it wasn't hot) and being family of the groom has the perks of getting to get our food first! After we started eating Brooklynn cheered up. Tucker (my nephew) took this picture of her

BrooklynphotobyTucker.jpg

Not bad for a 4 year old.

Brooklynn went and sat with her daddy at teh head table and snuck some Mt. Dew.

IMG_1378.jpg

That was all she needed. Let the dancing begin!!!!!

IMG_1390.jpg

IMG_1408.jpg

Please ignore the woman in black that is John's mom and once she saw everyone watching the kids dance she had to get up and get right in the middle of it so she could be seen too.

She was dying for a piece of cake and watched while they cut it.

Brooklynn with her Uncle Jason and (officially) Aunt Jonie.

Brooklynn seems to have had a wonderful day, and her curls were still hanging in there at the end of the day. I love that picture of her with the bride and groom.

We left the reception when all of the usual stuff was finished - eating, cake cutting, bouquet tossing, etc. and headed back to the hotel for some more pool time. This time John played with Brooklynn while I hung out with Isabella on the sidelines.

IMG_1425.jpg

IMG_1438.jpg

After the pool, I packed all of our stuff and the John loaded it into the car. We planned on being up early in the morning and getting started on our long drive back.

We headed out about 8:00. We arrived at the Cincinnati Zoo around 11:30. We got some food (btw they had the best food between the 3 zoos). Outside the window next to our table sat a peacot (at least that's what Brooklynn called it)

IMG_1462.jpg

We headed to go see some animals we hadn't seen.

The black bear

IMG_1472.jpg

The polar bears

IMG_1482.jpg

They had just thrown two big buckets of peanuts in.

IMG_1489.jpg

Brooklynn had to take a potty break and we were at the top of a hill and as far away from a bathroom as we could be. I grabbed Brooklynn out of the stroller and raced to the bathroom while John waited for us at the top of the hill.

IMG_1498.jpg

The cheetahs were out and about

IMG_1508.jpg

IMG_1511.jpg

The white tiger was chillin

IMG_1517.jpg

The white lion and lioness were out. This is when we realized it must be mating season for the lions. Tris is the only picture I can post.

IMG_1527.jpg

And of course there was a rhino statue so Brooklynn needed a picture. John got to take one at Louisville so I got to do this one.

IMG_1529.jpg

IMG_1530.jpg

After the zoo Brooklynn slept in the car until we stopped at Munfordville, KY. We stopped at Dairy Queen and John took Brooklynn inside for ice cream while I fed and changed Bella in the car. He called to tell me there were people smoking inside and they were headed out to us. I didn't know you could smoke in a building anymore but apparently you can. After ice cream we stopped at MeMom's for dinner and to get the dog and then headed home. It was a long few days packed with a lot of stuff and so much fun!

Brooklynn's curls are so adorable and they held up well!

I can't stand weddings that are so unorganized, it drives me nuts. My husband was in one last month and it was like that, drove me up the wall! :headache:

We love Sombrero Donald. I hope we get lucky and find him again too!

I always stop at Mexico, I think the outside is beautiful and the inside is a colorful explosion. One day I want to dine inside by the water, the only thing stopping me is the food. I'm not a huge mexican food fan. :confused3

I'm sure my DS will want to eat at the Cantina, so I'll think of you. ;)

It would be hard to pick which animal to buy, they are all very neat.

I was hoping for a hidden MeMom pic with maracas or something....:rotfl:

I like to find the characters in some of their unique outfits. I'd like to go to Donald's breakfast sometime just to get them in their safari wear.

Mexican food is just a little too much for some people in the heat of summer, but we've enjoyed our Cantina visits.

If I ever get an animal, it'll probably be based on price.

I wonder if he's ever carved an ant? I might be able to afford that!

Brooklyn is just so cute posing with the animals. I have a sudden urge to go to the zoo!

MeMom, that little porcupine is the cutest little thing!! I bet you could make one with toothpicks. Hehehe.

That sounds like a craft Brooklynn and I can do someday. We could have fun with Play-Doh and toothpicks! :)

Oh and MeMom/Jill.... when I woke up at 1AM to go potty, my first thought was about the surprise. :)

We are a pitiful bunch of people, aren't we? :rotfl:

When I get up at 1, I think about crazy things, too!

I guess we better be coming up with something really good with all this interest. I hope it doesn't disappoint.

We've always had good luck at the Cantina, too.

It's rather warm in the south today, I know that. The air is thick out there!

The picture of John and Brooklynn getting ready to go down the aisle is awesome.

I bet John was hating being dressed up as much as Brooklynn was loving it.

Like I always say, I just snap like crazy and get lucky sometimes.

John's mother and I have very different personalities, wouldn't you say, Jill? John's mom loves the spotlight, and you pretty much know where I stand on that idea.

That's her!

Jill had the line in purple right after the Marie Barone quote, so I was reading it as John's mom did well listening and following directions at the rehearsal!

She's a pretty good Mommy, I think! She didn't get to recuperate when she got home, because she had to get Bella to the doctor first thing Monday morning. She probably needs about a ten hour nap right now.

awwww, I had the biggest crush on Davy Jones when I was little!!

I was at the same hotel they (The Monkees) were staying at once a long time ago. We never saw them, but everyone was talking about it.

Haha...yeah we call it pop here and always laugh on our drive down as it turns to soda or coke.

AW! Brookie looks so cute all dressed up!

That would be interesting research to do - stop every few miles down the road and see where the drink terminology changes.

:lmao:

That picture of Bella is perfect. She's just always along for the ride, and usually is pretty content.

But aren't the pictures with the kids looking different ways or making funny faces sweet ones?!?!?

Brooklynn seems to have had a wonderful day, and her curls were still hanging in there at the end of the day. I love that picture of her with the bride and groom.

I'm surprised the curls held as well as they did, too.

Brooklyn's curls are so adorable and they held up well!

I can't stand weddings that are so unorganized, it drives me nuts. My husband was in one last month and it was like that, drove me up the wall! :headache:

Nearly every one of the last few days held surprises for the people involved. It was getting to be a terrible joke at the end.

*********************

I'm thinking that between all Jill's pictures and mine the last couple of days, I might have a dream tonight that involves hunting for Donald while riding a rhino through Mexico and then having a giant lizard trap me in a truck while I'm on my way to a wedding!

Brooklynn was SUCH a cute flower girl! And her curls held up quite well!

I  the Cincinnati Zoo! We live about two hours away and we try to go every summer.

We have missed you, friend!

The word is that the ship was in much need of repair and was a danger to little kids climbing on it. I would like to see them rebuild and maybe make it specifially for playing on. Wouldn't that be kind of cool?

I missed you guys, too!

I would love to see a viking ship specifically for playing on -- that would be awesome. I'm glad that we have that picture and more of Kailyn playing on it because it's nice to have the pictures of things that don't exist anymore.

I can totally relate to the "pop" confusion. The first time I went out to Ohio, when I was 13, my aunt offered me pop and I had NO idea what she meant! It's either tonic or soda here.

One of my girls at work just got to Disney World today. Her flight left Boston around 4:30 AM  and she's been texting me and sending me pictures, as Katie did, because I like living vicariously. :rotfl2: DHS has EMH tonight, so that's where they are. I've so far gotten a picture of the hat and a picture looking down Sunset Blvd. towards the ToT.

Jill....sounds like you had a very busy weekend! Glad the wedding went well...and yes every wedding i have ever been too has had a maid of honor and best man toast (which I just realized I have to do in Aug and I have no idea what I am going to say since the groom is not the best one for my best friend to marry....but thats another story;))

And yes Mansfield area has nothing and the mall is horrible...i go a lot when I need to go somewhere quick cause it has the target, kohls etc but if I want to really do some shopping I will head to the Polaris Mall in the north part of Columbus!
We do need to take Caleb to the zoo this summer but we will probably end up in Toledo as my SIL bought family passes there so we will probably go with them. I'm not so sure she is brave enough to take 4 kids under 8 again by herself!:scared1:

And the whole pop/coke thing....there is a line at about KY when it is Coke...we got tripped up in that when we were in the south....we're like no we really want a coke (as in the brand) and they kept on going...which kind?? A COKE!! :lmao:

Did the rain miss you for the wedding...you might have been indoors by then. And bridal parties are always late to the beginning of a wedding reception...that really bothered my dad so my mom made sure the were appetizers at our reception so guests had something to munch on while the bride and groom arrive! And most weddings are usually right after the actual wedding (in my part of Ohio anyways) but in the Cleveland area then they are at a later time!

poor little guy!

The gorillas.
IMG_1148.jpg

my favorite!

Our next stop was Mexico.

First, we got food.

disney3-18-09AKEpcot344.jpg

when i first saw this i was in the middle of reading jill's mini TR and i thought, "oh my gosh....mexico? i thought they were in ohio!" :lmao:

We didn't go in and sit down, but we did listen to Davy Jones sing a couple of songs.

disney3-18-09AKEpcot367.jpg

very cool! i remember watching "the monkees" when i was like 9 or 10 on nick at nite at my grandma's house all the time!

Random bird picture.

disney3-18-09AKEpcot368.jpg

you had to throw that in there, didn't you?

Classic toddler

IMG_1347.jpg

that's awesome! other than the nose-picking she looks very pretty!

Brooklynn fixed her G-pa's jacket (I think this is such a sweet picture)

IMG_1360.jpg

that's so cute! that picture in a frame would be a really good father's day gift to g-pa!

John's brother-in-law Randy was an usher. Want to know when he found out - at the rehearsal when he saw it written on the program! Seriously!

i had the opposite problem at my wedding. i had designated 2 friends to sit in the lobby and "manage" the signing of the guest book. they were fully aware of it. i even gave them gifts for helping out with the wedding. well, before the ceremony started my mom comes into the dressing room and asks me if someone's supposed to be doing the guest book. i said yes, jamie and jeannie. she said, "there's nobody up there and the guest book is laying on the bottom shelf of the table it's supposed to be sitting on and no one's signing it." my mom then went and found jamie and asked her what the deal was. she said they "forgot". you can see at the very beginning of our wedding video, when the camera is panning the guests, that jamie is walking around and asking people to sign the guest book. i wasn't very happy!

sorry you had such a problem with waiting on the pictures. ray and i had ours taken beforehand because i didn't want everyone to have to wait forever at the reception for us. we'd been together for 8 years when we got married. i think if we had to worry about bad luck with him seeing me before the wedidng it would've hit us before then!

That was all she needed. Let the dancing begin!!!!!

IMG_1389.jpg

GO BROOKLYNN, GO BROOKLYNN!!!! :dance3:

Please ignore the woman in black that is John's mom and once she saw everyone watching the kids dance she had to get up and get right in the middle of it so she could be seen too.

when she comes over to brooklynn, brooklynn's like, "leave me alone, woman, I'M DANCING!!!!" :rotfl2:

i love the leg-up-in-the-air move. very expressive! :lmao:

The white lion and lioness were out. This is when we realized it must be mating season for the lions. Tris is the only picture I can post.

IMG_1527.jpg

i don't think i've ever seen a white lion. very cool! and thanks for not posting the "piggy back ride" pictures.

sounds like a great trip other than the stress of the wedding!

Brooklynn was so beautiful at the wedding!

Love the nose picking shot! :rotfl:

The white lion is super cool.

What a fun weekend!

Mom and Jill! I can't believe I missed the WHOLE delivery! I'm over 2 months behind! Well Congrats on the new-ish addition to your family! :cutie:

MeMom and Jill,

Let me introduce Bella's Disney boyfriend my frist grandsonTyson.
