A Ten Day Ride on A Magic Camel - Almost Finished Trip Report

We stayed at WL this past August for the first time--it was awesome! We even got to be flag family one morning where we raised the flags like those in one of your pictures!
Thanks for the great shots!

Is is just my "We are going in 22 days Disneyitis" or is there a hidden Mickey being formed by the water in this fountain?

Also, I love Brooklyn's New Testament books song! :rotfl:

I SEE IT!!!! I SEE IT!!!!!!!! Wow! Great eye! I wonder if that is a designed bit of Disney Magic or if MeMom is just a Magical photographer? Maybe a little bit of both:thumbsup2

Hannah came to look at the pictures...her response to this picture was tweet, tweet! Silly girl! What are the black birds? I can't tell.

I don't know about the birds. Maybe we can do some research and find out.

oh, i wanna do this! i looked into it last april but we couldn't fit it in our budget. i bet parasailing over seven seas lagoon/bay lake and seeing MK from that height is just AWESOME!

me too! can i stow away in one of your suitcases when you do????

I think the parasailing would be awesome, too. Wonder if I could take a camera up there with me?

About the suitcase - you had to go and say something like that to a claustrophobic?!?!? That makes me gasp for breath! :crazy2: I would much prefer you just ride along with us in the car. :)

Thanks everyone! The bruises are starting to appear but I am very thankful tonight that is all that happened. I just posted pics on my TR if you want to see the results.

I just keep seeing the image of that shattered windshield and seeing all the objects tossed around in the van (and some out when the side window shattered, my purse ended up under one of the wheels!) I knew what was happening and remember feeling the seatbelt tighten and being surprised the airbag didn't deploy but I guess that only happens when the bumper is hit.

And test after test! One of my former co-workers always said "you can weigh a pig and weigh a pig but it won't make it any fatter"

Me too!!! Can we have a Dis meet there? Or at least a meal at Whispering Canyon Cafe, that looks like such a fun place! We had ADR's there but ended up not making it

I feel for you today, but I'm happy it's only soreness - no stitches or broken bones.

It's just so frustrating. We spend two weeks testing during every quarter, so that leaves seven weeks for doing what we need to to. They add programs and more difficult curriculum constantly. Our parents look at the third-grade curriculum and can't believe it. On paper, it looks like about like what we learned at a sixth grade level. I think sometimes it helps just to know some people out there really do understand the frustrations. There's nothing we can do but stay in and deal with it or change careers, and since I'm too far into it and not talented enough to do anything else, I have to stick it out. I just miss the enjoyment we all - students and teachers - used to have.

We've been to Whispering Canyon, and it was a good experience. The food was good and we had a good server. Trent loves Wilderness Lodge, and he's already asked me to put Whispering Canyon on the list again for next summer's trip.

We have that frame... which I love. My dh never wants WDW souvenirs...but he wanted that one after our stay there. We have my favorite picture from our 07 trip in in... girls in princess dresses, Hannah right after BBB and me not pregnant! I sorta wish it was a picture of us at the Lodge though... next trip.

Yeah, I think a picture out by the geyser or by the rocks or in the lobby would be great to put in that frame. I am definitely formulating plans in my mind for us to stay there!

Beautiful photos from the Lodge -- just love them -- and I am coveting that photo frame now! :goodvibes

I know what you're really thinking...
Wilderness Lodge?
Animal Kingdom Lodge?
Wilderness Lodge?
Animal Kingdom Lodge?

Isn't there a commandment about that coveting stuff?
Something like 'Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's cool Wilderness Lodge purchases'?

I mean, as long as Brooklyn is doctoring her Bible songs like she is, I guess we can have a Fractured Fairy Tales version of the Ten Commandments, too.

Yea... you need that frame. I expect to see it in your purchases!

It depends on if she really stays there, huh? ;)

:lmao: I should probably add it to my souvenir shopping list...:rolleyes1

Not yet. Wait until I bring back pictures of AKL's Zawadi Gift Shop pictures in November.

It's kinda fun adding to your turmoil in choosing resorts. :upsidedow

That would be fun to be a flag family! Do you have a picture you're willing to share with us? I'd love to take some pictures of the view from the top!

Is is just my "We are going in 22 days Disneyitis" or is there a hidden Mickey being formed by the water in this fountain?

Also, I love Brooklyn's New Testament books song! :rotfl:
I see Mickey, too, but I don't know if it's real or imagined. That would be a good question for me to ask one of the rangers when I go in November.

Hooray for you for your 22 day dance. Only I think this morning it's 21, so you're almost in the teens!!!
:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Ooooh, what if I really am a Magical Disney Photographer Extraordinaire???
How cool would that be?
Maybe they would give me a job walking around taking magical pictures all day.
Sign me up for that!!!

MeMom just to let you know your son is in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks. He's seeing the orthopedic doctors Friday, and he is anxious to get back to work.

Does everybody have exciting, or at least fun or relaxing, weekend plans?
I have a friend coming to put in a new water heater for me this morning, and then I am headed out to Alabama to see my little girl and big girl. I can't wait to see their Disney Halloween/birthday trip pictures and get my little treats they brought back! Jill, Brooklynn, and I are going to another Disney on Ice in Huntsville. It's different than the one we saw here, so I'll have some new pictures. I'll be spending the night there and coming back home tomorrow, since I try not to drive at night unless I have to.

I wish you all a nice, peaceful, enjoyable, and SAFE weekend!

Be careful MeMom. Have fun at Disney on Ice. We are going on Wednesday to the one in Atlanta. Can't wait to see some more of your pictures. Enjoy your time with the family and please know that I am still praying for Drew. How is he feeling?

HAve fun in HUntsville(DH leaves Sunday for a week there) Nothing this weekend but next weekend is Disney on Ice for us.

Have a great time with your Girls !!! It will be so fun to re-live thier trip together. Look at the pics of the trip.
Disney on Ice should be a nice treat after the week you had.
Be safe and enjoy the weekend.
Hope you get some really neat gifts. ;)

I will share this on your TR because I want to remind as many people as possible to wear your seatbelt all the time!! I rolled my van this morning on my way to work. The van is totalled and I walked away thanks to my seatbelt. Keep yourselves safe out there!
so glad to hear that you are ok. and thank you for the reminder b/c i sometimes forget to wear my seatbelt.
Reading assessments - we do them constantly. They always say at the seminars not to put kids in redbirds, bluebirds, and yellowbirds, but then they test them and put numbers on them and put them in groups.
i remember those groups. is it common to have reading groups broken down like that?

MeMom u asked me if i ever went to Ft. Wilderness? The answer is yes. Not to visit but to work, i was deployed for about 2 weeks there due to "casting" needs. I enjoyed working there even though i wouldnt admit it then. I hated getting deployed, i'd rather be at my home resort where im comfortable at.

Brooklynn with hands that show the results of having a chocolate chip cookie outside for more than a few minutes in the Florida sun.

IMG_2168.jpg
oooh, i love disney chocolate chip cookies, they are so yummy

Note that Brooklynn has changed outfits.
i did notice, guessing some chocolate ended up on her shirt?

I just keep seeing the image of that shattered windshield and seeing all the objects tossed around in the van (and some out when the side window shattered, my purse ended up under one of the wheels!) I knew what was happening and remember feeling the seatbelt tighten and being surprised the airbag didn't deploy but I guess that only happens when the bumper is hit.

i understand what you mean, My best friend and i flipped 6 times in her Explorer. My phone ended up going out the window. Sadly we wern't wearing our seatbelts but we had angels with us that night, cause we walked away, only my best friend had a major injury because she had her arm out the window while we rolled, no broken bones though, just really bad scrapes and cuts on her left arm. You would think i would have learned my lesson by now...now im gonna try even harder to make sure that i wear my seatbelt

well, i have plans, but they're not exactly relaxing. the vandy/georgia game starts in 1 hour and 15 minutes. i will NOT be relaxed!!!!! but it'll be fun!

have fun in alabama and be careful! we're going to disney on ice next sunday. i'm excited - i think it'll give me just the dose of disney i need before our december trip! ;) tell jill, brooklynn and john we said hello!

Animal Kingdom Lodge?

Yep. Throw Caribbean Beach in there and that is pretty much right on the money.

Something like 'Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's cool Wilderness Lodge purchases'?

I mean, as long as Brooklyn is doctoring her Bible songs like she is, I guess we can have a Fractured Fairy Tales version of the Ten Commandments, too.

:rotfl: I have spent the afternoon trying to do laundry and thinking of other Disney Commandments...

Not yet. Wait until I bring back pictures of AKL's Zawadi Gift Shop pictures in November.

It's kinda fun adding to your turmoil in choosing resorts. :upsidedow

Ahhh, Zawadi, my weak point, and my favorite resort gift shop in all the World.

It's fun to have my turmoil added to -- if only all turmoil could be as interesting!

If you really want to add to my turmoil, come back with some photos from the Mara -- I never see photos from the food court. :rolleyes1

Does everybody have exciting, or at least fun or relaxing, weekend plans?

I wish -- we were supposed to go see all the scarecrows at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, but my parents want to postpone it. So, I guess we are hanging out here and cleaning, doing laundry, and making magic cookie bars.

I have a friend coming to put in a new water heater for me this morning, and then I am headed out to Alabama to see my little girl and big girl. and then, being the good citizen that I am, I went to throw some trash away.

I reached for the garbage can, but it was a little further away that I had judged.

My foot caught the curb wrong,

and in s-l-o-w motion,

I

began

to

lose

my

ba
la
n
c
e.

I almost righted myself, but alas, I could not,
because my hands were carrying precious cargo.

I will refer you back to this picture.

IMG_1813.jpg

So, risking my all to save my buckets and cups,
I proceeded to fall flat on my face.
Literally.
In slow motion.

Two CM's were standing right there and rushed over to me.
I had already begun laughing.

Jill came over with a look of sheer terror on her face, but when she saw that I was fine, and that I found it quite amusing, she started laughing.

Imagine that - laughing hysterically at your sweet mother who has raised you from an infant and sacrificed life and limb for you and brought you to the Happiest Place on Earth!

Not only did she laugh, she proceeded to re-enact the fall. :rotfl2:
In slow motion.
Which made us laugh even more. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I hope the people around us got as much of a kick out of it as we did.

Somebody somewhere surely went home and told their friends about seeing the popcorn bucket lady fall
slowly
into the trash can
and onto
the ground.

And since I have already been so brave as to peer out from behind my friend Goofy earlier in the report,
I will now show you the self-photograph from the next morning
after the aforementioned fall.

More MeMom than you ever wanted to see, I am sure.

[PICTURE REMOVED - Just imagine a scarred up eye and cheekbone here.]

Not to fear, though.

I have BIG sunglasses. :cool2:

[PICTURE REMOVED - Imagine scarred up face covered by big sunglasses.]

I wore them pretty much every minute of the next several days.

Jill had told me she was going to re-enact my fall again on this trip and film it for you all to see.

I wonder if she did that tonight when she was at Hollywood Studios with no people around? :upsidedow

Okay, that's enough humiliation for one evening.

I talked to Nicole and Jill both just a little bit ago. They're chillin' in their rooms at Pop. Maybe they can hook up tomorrow afternoon when they are both back at the rooms for breaks.

I miss reading for a couple of days and I miss the Memom pictures. Evidently I skipped some pages. I missed this part, but caught the part at Fort Wilderness, but now I'm caught up again. Hope you have a great weekend.

We had a fun day today...the girls and i decorated for Halloween then my DH called!! We got to webchat with him for about 20 minutes before he had to get some sleep. Then he emailed us some pics of Baghdad. Pretty good day!

Hope that you had a great time with your girls and John. Which Disney on Ice this time? We saw the Worlds Of Fantasy one that you saw a few weeks ago... I must admit that the princess one was much better in my opinion but Hannah sure loved the Tink part. She is gearing up for the movie I guess.

Today we took three kids to the pumpkin patch. I just need another arm.... I hope someday I adjust to three. Scares me to think of going to WDW with them someday!

Have a great week at school!

We stayed at Ft Wilderness summer of 07, but didn't even have time to see the horses. It was a very short trip. Wilderness Lodge is mine and my husband's dream hotel as well. Maybe next time. Maybe we'll take some time this trip to at least visit it!

Be careful MeMom. Have fun at Disney on Ice. We are going on Wednesday to the one in Atlanta. Can't wait to see some more of your pictures. Enjoy your time with the family and please know that I am still praying for Drew. How is he feeling?

We did have fun. I might not have pictures until Jill comes next weekend, though.

Drew is fine, and he is very anxious to get back to work. He can't go back until ortho releases him - hopefully Friday. We won't know anything about his ear until several weeks from now. I thought they said three weeks, but they said six.

HAve fun in HUntsville(DH leaves Sunday for a week there) Nothing this weekend but next weekend is Disney on Ice for us.

Which Disney on Ice are you seeing? This one was better than the one in Nashville, and their souvenirs were better, too. I still didn't see anything that thrilled me enough to spend the money while not in the real Disney World, though. Jill got a Peter Pan and Captain Hook banner, a Flounder hat w/popcorn, and a Disney on Ice lemonade cup for Brooklynn.

Have a great time with your Girls !!! It will be so fun to re-live thier trip together. Look at the pics of the trip.
Disney on Ice should be a nice treat after the week you had.
Be safe and enjoy the weekend.
Hope you get some really neat gifts. ;)

I got a nice Halloween bag, some Halloween pens, and a Halloween popcorn bucket I had requested. I'll use the bucket and the bag, most likely, when we do Trunk-or-Treat with the church kids this Saturday.

i remember those groups. is it common to have reading groups broken down like that?

MeMom u asked me if i ever went to Ft. Wilderness? The answer is yes. Not to visit but to work, i was deployed for about 2 weeks there due to "casting" needs. oooh, i love disney chocolate chip cookies, they are so yummy
i did notice, guessing some chocolate ended up on her shirt?

It is very common in this area to do small groups at the kids' levels, and it is fine to do that in a general way. The tests they have to go through, though, are ridiculous. You'd really just have to see it done to believe it.

Any Disney cookie I've ever had has been better than most I've ever had here in the outside world!

Other than being 'deployed', was Pop Century the only resort you really worked at?

Have fun at Disney on Ice! Be careful driving down. Enjoy your time with Brooklynn!

We had a good time. Brooklynn is fun to be around. We colored together and sang songs. She has a memory like you wouldn't believe. If you tell her something once, she doesn't forget it.

well, i have plans, but they're not exactly relaxing. the vandy/georgia game starts in 1 hour and 15 minutes. i will NOT be relaxed!!!!! but it'll be fun!

I think you'll enjoy Disney on Ice. I think Luke will like it. It's good for those in between trip times.

Yep. Throw Caribbean Beach in there and that is pretty much right on the money.

Ahhh, Zawadi, my weak point, and my favorite resort gift shop in all the World.

If you really want to add to my turmoil, come back with some photos from the Mara -- I never see photos from the food court. :rolleyes1

Caribbean Beach was pretty, too, when I was there in July. You're just going to have to stay at all of them on many future trips.

Zawadi is an awesome gift shop, and I will bring back Mara pictures. We're going over to AKL to take pictures of the Christmas tree. I'm hoping some of the resorts will have trees up before Thursday/Friday, or we're not going to be able to see them all. If we can get to some of them on Tuesday and Wednesday, that would be nice. Last year, Pop Century had theirs up when we got there about the 17th, but POFQ and POR didn't, so I guess it varies from resort to resort.

Do you used pecans in your magic cookie bars? If so, you can make sure my bar, the one I know you were planning to send me, has extra nuts! :)

I miss reading for a couple of days and I miss the Memom pictures. Evidently I skipped some pages. I missed this part, but caught the part at Fort Wilderness, but now I'm caught up again. Hope you have a great weekend.

Yep, the scarred one didn't stay up there long. I hate pictures of myself!

I hope your weekend has been nice, too.

We had a fun day today...the girls and i decorated for Halloween then my DH called!! We got to webchat with him for about 20 minutes before he had to get some sleep. Then he emailed us some pics of Baghdad. Pretty good day!

That does sound like a nice day! Do you happen to watch Little People, Big World? On Monday night, they showed Matt Roloff trying to get into Baghdad to check on a family with three dwarf children. It was interesting.

Have a great week at school!

This time it was Magical Journeys, and it was better than the one we saw here since we knew all the characters. We don't know so much about the Tinkerbell Fairies, and that was a long part of the other one. This time we saw Lion King and Little Mermaid again, but the shows were different, and then Lilo and Stitch, and Peter Pan. Peter Pan was that part after intermission. Two of Brooklynn's favorites are PanPan and Awull, so it was fun to watch her face as she took it all in. When the announcer came over the speaker and said, "Ladies and gentleman..." she flew up into her seat! He was only giving the five minute warning so you could find your seat before the lights went down, but Brooklynn found hers in a millisecond!

You'll do fine with three! I raised three alone, and it was wonderful, as draining as it sometimes was. We had as much fun as anyone could have on the budget we were on. We made little things fun. I was lucky that my kids were all good when they were little and didn't give me problems (very little bickering, etc.), and I know yours will be the same.

Now when they're teenagers, that's another story. They can get the attitudes, then, but thankfully, they do come out on the other side of it eventually.

******************

I have much schoolwork to do tonight. I have put it off all weekend, and I can't deny it any longer. I cleaned house and did a little shopping for next weekend, and now I am Dising, but I have to make myself go do this work or I will be sorry tomorrow.

I'm glad you're home safe and that you enjoyed Disney on Ice!

I'm sorry you have to do school work this evening. I have to do paper work tonight also and I have been putting it off ALL day!

I like short trips, but I don't like short trips! You know - you're grateful to have any Disney time you can have, but after a couple of ten day trips, where you can go at your leisure and see so much more, you just get greedy and want them all to be long trips. At least, I will admit, I get greedy for longer trips.

We don't have much longer to wait until our November Disney fun!

I'm glad you're home safe and that you enjoyed Disney on Ice!

I'm sorry you have to do school work this evening. I have to do paper work tonight also and I have been putting it off ALL day!

I'm looking for excuses not to sit down and do it, so keep talking!
